Horrible company. Company is old and outdated. Even if you process a future "scheduled payment" online you still have to call customer service to confirm those future dates or your service will be disconnected because it's not notated (but you scheduled the payment with their online system) Even after the payment was made ( scheduled 2 weeks prior ) my service was disconnected the exact same day. I was told a technician "may be" out to reconnect it before 5pm or you'll be reconnected the next day (it's already been 2 days with no water) Worse service ever Also they tell you that they've mailed this bill on this date and when I stated I didn't receive those, the response is "that's not our fault" I wish their was another water company to choose from. read more

I would give a minus 10 if possible. Elderly sister having memory problems thought she had paid, so ignored shut off for $62.00 which shut off indicated was the balance owing. Called day the water was shut off and explained to the RUDE, Snotty no customer service woman answering phone the reason the 62.00 was not paid prior to. shutoff and wanted to pay and get it turned back on asap. She informed me that becuz it wasnt paid prior to shut off it would now require payment of $235.00 or my 80 year old sister would not have water until then. I ask if they could work with us as my sister had paid for over 20 years without a problem and this callous B.... said basically tough sh..! No service until you pay $235.02. I guess being a greedy cold monopoly allows TMWA to treat customers like this. Nonprofit my a.. Somebody at that company (or all) are getting paid well. This company is garbage. Shut off our water because another neighbor said our sprinklers were flooding their yard, when in fact it was a house behind us. They didn't knock and said they called, but no voicemail. Knock on the physical address before you shut someone's water off. They said it's their policy to call, well leave a message then and knock on the door. There are houses behind us overwatering and you can see on their sidewalks, so maybe do a little research. read more

To start with, the attitude of the customer service reps are terrible. Next, after receiving two "late or shut your service" notices from them they finally admitted that they had "problems" with their computer and several notices had been sent out in error to several customers. AFTER this attempt at resolution of the problem I received another "threat notice to shut my water" and an apology again about "computer problems. My checks were cashed and all bills for two properties had been paid on time. Looking at other customer reviews I see this seems to be the way they do business with an apparent "don't care" attitude. I contacted them on the Friday leading in to the holiday weekend. There was a broken pipe underground at our neighbors and the water had bubbled up through the ground and was flooding our property. This was a trailer park. The man mentioned having to get ahold of the trailer park manager. I tried several different methods to contact her and all were unsuccessful. I gave him her personal number. I reminded him that water is a Precious Commodity. He agreed. TMWA never came out and the neighbors ended up doing some half assed repair themselves. read more

I called TMWA today, suspicious of water leak as my back and front yards have been pooling with water. We had previous water leaks on the city side so my first thought was a breech in the weak area that had been replaced twice before. Though we could not find the leak and I disagreed with TMWA's opinion of where the water was coming from, the leak seems to have temporarily resolve itself for the time being, and confirms what my second guess might be. I've never been one to write a bad review, but as a member of a community non-profit board, it's essential that they acknowledge errors and take responsibility for their mistakes or, at the very least, offer a one-time forgiveness policy. It's disheartening to witness that even a long-serving employee isn't trusted with a simple one-time error forgiveness. Here's what happened: I recently moved to a new home, and I wasn't receiving any mail. I thought I had enrolled in autopay, and my first notification of being late came on the same day as a notice of possible termination. I promptly paid the bill in full, including the current month. However, just a few hours after making the payment, they disconnected my water service. I understand that I was late, but this was my first notification, and it was unfortunate that this happened. When I spoke to their representative to request the reconnection of my water, their service team was great and acted promptly. However, dealing with Donna, the manager, was a frustrating experience. She seemed to disregard the importance of customer satisfaction, and this is the kind of behavior that arises when a company becomes a monopoly, forgetting the significance of their customers. Also they said got the return yesterday well okay I paid it the 9th and where is the 48 hour notice? I'm very disappointed in TMWA. I had 4 adults in my house for about 2 weeks. They were family that were evacuated from the Ferguson fire in CA. Of course we used a lot more water for those couple of weeks. I called TMWA and spoke to Linda who refused to even discuss lower the tier price of the extra water. She said "We don't do that". I thought the point of the tier pricing was to ensure folks don't use too much water, which we don't normally. here in reno nevada, everyone has been called to save water. we are in a dire situation here in reno. bit for 3 1/2 years i have been complaining of the horribly excessive watering by southridge apartments. they water everyday for hours at a time several times a day. they over water so much that all lawn areas there are muddy, full of standing water and at times even stinks! i recently broke my foot slipping in this mud trying to pick up after my dog! now many of us residents have called and we have been told they are aware of southridges heinous and grievous water waste but in 3 1/2 years truckee meadows water authority has allowed this behavior and done nothing! i feel that that utility is corrupt and needs ti be investigated immediately! read more

Things happen and in my case, we didn't get our bill , my neighbors were getting them and didn't bother to bring it over . Sure I know we have an obligation of paying this every month, but life gets busy and I don't recommend them at all ! Wish there was another company In charge of water. These guys suck. There was a construction project happening in my neighborhood and the water was shut off for an entire day. Was supposed to be back on by 5pm. It wasn't. So I started making phone calls to find out what the delay was and get it back on for the night. The construction company would not answer their phones. (Peek Brothers, and they're colossal jerks, I wouldn't let them build me a dog house.), so I called TMWA. They had no knowledge of the project. None. By now I'm in a panic that someone tampered with my water service. I had to call repeatedly before a tech found someone to come out to turn it on. This was nearly 6pm. When the guy arrived to turn it on I dashed outside to get some explanation as to what happened, find out if it was Peek or TMWA that was responsible. The driver, Mike, was yelling at me and acting like I had no right to be upset. "I made a mistake. Big deal!" Yes, it was a big deal. Had I not made calls I would've been without water all night long. As it went, my husband and son weren't able to shower after work and we had to have fast food as I couldn't make dinner. I just got home from medical treatment and should be resting. Instead I was on the phone fighting to get my water turned back on. Peek told me the next day that the water was turned on for everyone else at 1pm. I was the one house that was forgotten. Mistakes happen. I get that. But when NO ONE in TMWA knew about the project, and I get abused by their driver, that's WRONG. Even an apology from the driver would've gone a LONG way in rectifying this. Nope. Just more abuse. They don't care. They have a monopoly and the customer suffers. Hate these guys. With a passion. I will never trust them again. Beware. If they shut your water off for construction, you better be on top of it to get it back on, as they won't. read more

Update: Turns out the past due this was a misunderstanding on my part. TMWA were very helpful in resolving the situation. The staff member who did the call back was very polite in the follow up call, and above all, extremely patient. Online pay works just as well as you would like it to. The timeframe is a few business days to complete the transaction, plus a few more for the changes in the balance to appear. This is where the misunderstanding arose. All in all, very good utility company. Their service has been excellent so far, and I apologize for being such an impatient customer. read more

We pay our bill on auto pay every month, with out fail. Apparently there was issue this month and the cc auto pay didn't go through. No notice, by mail, by phone , nothing. Apparently the bill was due only 4 days ago and of course didn't realize there was issue ..and they shut off my water at 3:00 in the afternoon!!! I immediately called and paid the bill , and they "might " get it back on by 6:30 tonight , if not , they have until 6:30 tomorrow!! There is no one I can speak to , no one knows what the chances are to have it turned back on today .... that is the worst customer service I have ever witnessed. Zero notifications... We obviously have no problem paying our bill as it is auto deducted monthly! I have seen multiple reviews with the lack of communication and shutting off an entire family's water supply... I live in an apartment complex and for the past 5 years the sidewalks get almost as much water as the grass does. Long story short...I called TMWA, filed a complaint and their rep showed up the same day. The sidewalks are still getting watered but at least there aren't puddles any more. read more

If I could give a lower rating I would. This company is uncaring and horrible to customers. Every time I have called I have had to ask to speak to a supervisor because the rep was too busy interrupting me or condescending with an attitude of there is no other company to get water from, So we can be rude, inconsiderate and untreasonable. I had services at one address for years, went through a nasty divorce and sold my home. The last month my ex didn't give me the bill and I was just weeks from moving to my new home. Services were in his name only. Sevices were interrupted and when I called they told me that i had to pay all past due plus a deposit. I paid had services restored at the house and a week later transferred services to my new home. My services were just interrupted for non payment. When I called they had refunded over 490 to my ex and shut my services off and require another deposit. They know I paid the bills and yet they say there is nothing that they can do about my money going to them and then that money going to my ex. The reps aren't even able to accept payments it's ridiculous.. Reps are horrible and condescending read more

I can admit this is partially my fault. During the pandemic my husband lost his job and I set up a payment plan with the water company. I thought the payments came out of my account automatically. My water was shut off in the morning and I paid it as soon as I noticed. At the time their website to pay the payments was also down so you had to go to a location to pay and email them. I paid called and put the request for my water to be turned back on. My issue is we are having one of the biggest spikes in Covid cases our county has ever seen. I am in the at risk group since I am a cancer patient. I waited a few hours and asked when they thought my water would be back on since I am at home in Qaurantine and going to someone else's house is not an option. The person I spoke to was very rude and told me because I am a customer who was part of non payment (I paid) it could be 24 hours. This is unexceptable during a pandemic, period. To want people to stay home, quarantine but not have their water on in a timely manner? I even asked if they were short staffed and she said no, that they would get to it when they get to it. She kepts reiderating that because I was part of the non payment group they had up to 24 hours to restore services. Implying that my three kids, husband and I didn't matter. I asked if she had a way to speak with dispatchers to see if I could have a time frame if their was anything they could do since we are in quarantine. This company does not care about it's customers during the pandemic and how running water is a key factor in hand washing and sanitation. There isn't any resources online to rectify this so I had to come here. My next letter is to the governor for allowing a resource to be off this long during a pandemic. You can't switch companies because they have a monopoly so I can't even advise you to go with anyone else. Just know, they do not care about their customers or the pandemic. read more

Ok its quite possible that all the pain meds I'm on at the moment has brought on this late night Yelp review writing frenzy and writing reviews for my various utility companies but I have to say I really am a fan of TMWA! Any time I've had service connected or disconnected when I moved, they have always been right on time, the bills have always been accurate, and when I've had to deal with them on the phone they have always been very professional and pleasant to deal with. Its in the news that the water isnt the best, isnt really safe to drink, but who really knows........... What I do know is my bill is DIRT CHEAP its never over $21.00, which I live in a condo so it shouldnt be too high, but even when I lived in an enormous house, and ran the dishwasher none stop, and the washing machine none stop, and had a sprinkler system in the yard that ran 2-3 times a day my bill was still very reasonable! As for drinking the water....... I dont suggest drinking any municipal water unless you filter it. Buy bottles water and use the tap for everything else and enjoy the cheap prices TMWA offers! read more

Nothing like buying toilet water (my bad) Water Treated Water for you and your family. But not to worry the completely rude CSR's are well prepared with the "Monopoly" Card in hand to tell you that even though you have had water for a year with total charges of $386.15 and you have paid $435.31 which you have obviously over paid your bills by $49.16. that because you were late(note there is not a due date on you bill) and they have already charged a late fee of $9.29(that is the total for the entire years time) that you will now have to pay a new activation fee of 25.00 and a deposit of $100.00. You will be very unhappy when you call the CSR to discuss. They know you have no choice so don't care if they are rude or disrespectful. Be very careful on your bill date provided is not your due date. It is a late payment date. If you pay on line through there site it will not post for 2 days and is considered late. If you pay through your bank it will not post for 5 days again considered late. If you pay at a pay station it will not post for 5 days (you guessed it) considered late. There is no option for same day payments unless you do an auto pay which won't be done on the same day each month. If I was the only person that had these issues I would say "shame on me". However, I am not. Let me give a sarcastic THANK YOU to this company for meeting the needs of our community. read more

Oh I was about ready to kill somebody over all the trouble with these guys today! Yet I ended up having to give them an "A-OK" rating since eventually the problem was resolved. I can't even go into any amount of detail about my situation, as it will turn into a novel and only confuse all who read it. But basically there needs to be more communication within the whole department. From customer, to customer service representative, to the people who go out to your house to address the service call, and then back again. It took three days to get the mysterious "unknown water usage" problem resolved, but hey.... at least I can use my water again! I still don't know what the problem is, apparently there is a ghost using the toilet periodically when I'm not home which frankly I don't care about.... I will gladly pay for the ghost's toilet usage as long as they just keep my water turned on! -More importantly, I found it fascinating that the water company knew that the water was being used when I WASN'T home..... After reading some of the reviews, I don't think I have the same TMWA company as others. Every single time I have had to call with an issue, they have always been extremely helpful and courteous. John H. had it right when he said they are the "Best Utility ever to deal with." To be fair, I have only had to interact with them on a handful of occasions, but every time it has been awesome customer service. And the emails and notifications that get sent out are a great help as well. We get notified that our usage has increased each year when we fill our above ground pool, as well as one time when we had a leaky exterior faucet. read more

I always pay online by either a credit card or my checking account. I have found the telephone system very helpful. When paying the amount in the summer, using a credit card, which is always over $500.00, the phone system sends you to an operator because the payment amount needs to be split into two payments--one of $500.00 and the second on the remainder of the balance. (This is not done by paying with a checking account--I believe it is because the banks allow only $500.00 at a time on a credit card.) Today a very courteous, patient, and caring young lady, Dawn, helped me through the process. She worked me through the process and she should be commended as a most helpful TMWA employee. Dawn also put me into the equal payment budget plan so I may pay a fixed amount every month and will not have to put the amount for watering my acre of grass and trees and garden over $500.00. Instead I will have the year's payments divided equally! read more

They won't replace outdated meters, and they sure as heck don't want you to pay your bills early either. WTH???? Guess I know who NOT to pay moving forward.
