We had some holes to dig in our backyard and the ground is very hard and rocky. I tried using a digging bar which worked but it was very slow going and extremely strenuous. We decided to explore options for an electric jackhammer. We reached out to the big box retailers which did not feel very accommodating or customer service oriented. They expected us to know what a small, medium or large jackhammer was. We also reached out to All Star Rents. They were very accommodating and explained the different options as well as how the rental process works. We rented a 60lb electric jackhammer for a 24 hour period and it was only a few dollars more than the big box retailers. The electric jackhammer enabled us to complete the digging work much faster and was far less strenuous. It was amazing to see the job done so quickly. The return process was also very easy. They even helped me unload it from our trailer. We would recommend All Star Rents! read more

Rented a 45kVA generator from these guys for a week long event in August. Generator was in great shape and ready to go right when I arrived. Staff hooked us up quickly and went out of their way to help debug a tail light issue, too. Overall the process was seamless and the staff and management were very friendly and helpful. These guys really rocked it today, had the cement mixerer ready to to at the time I asked for and it worked flawlessly on the job site. Took longer to get to the site and back than what I needed the equipment for, but to mix this much concrete by hand would have taken all day or more. Good local rental yard with fairly new equipment and reasonable pricing. Bring your hitch, chains, ratchet, straps and lighting adapters or you will get charged additionally $$. Rental clock should start after you leave the yard. Waited in the yard for over an hour while the trailer was moved into position, then the excavator needed the bucket changed but the pin would not come out as it was damaged from a previous rental. Yard agent wanted me to chain the unit down, another guy told them they were responsible. All this could have been happening while I was in the office and I got a late start on the work. ...otherwise equipment did the job it was rented for. read more

I needed a last minute rental on a Saturday for a carpet stretcher..gave them call, they answered the phone, (most other places are closed on the weekend) easy reservation for a noon pick up. All Star is my go-to place for any equipment I need, but have no interest in purchasing. Paul knows his stuff and is able to still help you in a timely manner, while juggling an incoming phone call every three minutes. They also have a great selection of products you might need to use with the equipment, sandpaper, safety equipment. , etc. Also, renting good equipment is never cheap, but All Star is fair on pricing. The one time I had a problem, the cord failed on a floor sander, they gave me another unit and three days credit, to accommodate that I could only use it on the weekend. The generator we got was new and worked very well. We rented a Honda 2000 generator for our RV for Burning Man, it was quiet and very efficient but was only strong enough for the fridge so if you want it for other appliances I would definitely go bigger. I got my security deposit back quickly and I would definitely rent from these guys again. read more

Unsatisfied with this company and their service. They insisted I get a rental protection plan for tire punctures and then delivered the equipment with a punctured tire I found after they unloaded it. I was quoted $520 for the rental and then my credit card was billed for $725. I called them on this and they did not have an explanation for the up-charge. No-refund was made for this overcharge. I feel this is dishonest. Furthermore, the delivery was late, and both the driver and manager (Paul) were not very nice. My advise is to use another company. read more

I was not pleased with the front desk representative- he was rude and issued snide comments. When asked to clarify why he was being inappropriate, the clerk became indignant. There are a multitude of rental entities in Reno/Sparks, I will take my hard-earned money elsewhere in the future.
