Scr*w this company. My family and I recently purchased a property that hunt services. We have never had to use propane for a house up until now. The information of having to use there service was not made available to us. And now without any notice our services have been cut. Keep in mind my family WAS HOME at the time of disconnection!! And no attempt was even made to come and knock on our door to let my wife know the situation! If that was the case everything would've been resolved at that point in time. But we only find out when I get home and attempt to shower away a hard days work. How unprofessional of this company. read more

I need a 7.5 gallon propane tank filled and yelped a fill location. I chose Hunt & Sons and Yelp directed me to 1775 Commercial Row. When I got there I was told that this is the Hunt & Sons Office and the tanks are filled at their 2500 E Fourth Street facility about a half mile away. I went there and they were very helpful and my tank was filled and I paid for it and was gone in less than 10 minute. read more

If I could do 0 stars I would. Do not go with this company! They do not care about their customers they don't show up whenever they say they will. They forget about you and then laugh about it. They forgot about us in the winter and we were down to 8 percent when our only heating system uses propane. They do not communicate at all. We have switched company's now bit they still have not pucked up the old propane tank when they said 2 seperate times now they would be out to get it and haven't showed. They are now ignoring my call and we are trying to go camping and can't get our trailer out because the tank is blocking it. It's been 2 weeks of it sitting there. read more

The Hunt Propane Tank Install Team was exceptional. Ken and Vado arrived early. They came with new equipment. They were careful and thoroughly knowledgeable about what they were doing. They were friendly, polite and answered any questions we had. The install went very smooth even though there were complications along the way. I just switched to Hunt and Sons from Amerigas this week.  FANTASTIC experience with Hunt so far--truly easy to work with! We ran out of propane in Olympic Valley this week--Amerigas (who recently acquired Truckee Tahoe Propane) had stopped filling our tank automatically for some unknown reason. My wife and I had many frustrating calls with various Amerigas "emergency dispatch" and regular customer call centers to try to get our tank filled, and were never to get a local person on a live call. To make matters worse, Amerigas canceled our emergency delivery because their system's info for our account indicated that we needed a new snow stake, which they had replaced this summer! When I called Hunt and Sons, they had a person (Ed) at our house within two hours.  Ed immediately confirmed that they could put in a new tank even with ~5 feet of snow on the ground.  By the following morning, Ed and his helper had our new tank in place with enough propane to rewarm the house.  A few hours after that, another Hunt truck had filled our our tank fully.  Great local company with great service! read more

After a "zero star" experience with Suburban Propane I was on the hunt for a new company to get my propane from. I called to set up service, letting them know my situation and how desperate I was for heat. They were so prompt in getting back to me, and are going to drop off a tank today!!! Their PPG is way less than Suburban Propane and they have none of the BS fees that Suburban propane does...all in all, I am so excited to have found a great company to work with to keep me warm this winter. read more

Compared to Amerigas, Hunt and Sons is a miracle! That said, they still were neither quick nor communicative in the propane install process. If you're looking for propane, Hunt and Sons' 4 star service is the best you will get. Plus they are family owned. Go with Hunt and Sons and NOT Amerigas. read more

These guys are awesome. After switching to Hunt after years with Suburban propane, they're saving me nearly 66% . Yeah two-thirds less than what I was paying previously. I went from $250/month to less than $100. $2 a gallon versus nearly $5 previously. Plus they're new to town and want to drum up business so you pay no tank rent for the first year and no delivery/hazmat fees. If you haven't made the switch, I highly suggest you do. No one else in Reno can touch Hunt's price within $2 a gallon! read more

If you want bad customer support and no propane in the middle of winter, this is the company for you! We were customers for a year and a half on auto fill, until the end of December this year when we ran totally out. We then found out they had not "auto filled" us since May. When we asked for an eta on a refill we were quoted 24 hours and no one showed up. We then went in person to ask what the heck was going on, and were told "we are on a list and they'll get to us when they get to us". We then found out a neighbor got a new tank from them this week, even though we were an existing customer and have been out of hot water and heat for over 3 weeks with no response or delivery estimate from them. If you want a propane company that will leave you in the dust in the middle of winter and deliver to new customers before existing customers then this is your company. We switched to Palomino Propane, cheaper prices and much more reliable. For what it's worth, I've used yelp for over 10 years and this is the first review I've ever posted. I went to them at their 4th street location in Reno (2500 East 4th Street, Reno, NV 89512) to have a new 10 gallon propane tank purged and filled. They were very friendly across the board and the price of propane per gallon was good. I will go back. read more

Amerigas shut of our tank while we were moving in and couldn't find time to turn it back on for a week. Hunt and sons came out same day, moved the other tanks and setup a new one. Super friendly! read more

I called Hunt & Sons early on a Monday morning after discovering that my propane tank was almost empty--thanks to my previous propane provider having ignored my online request for a refill weeks earlier and, before that, had kept me waiting several weeks for a refill! To my great delight and relief, Hunt & Sons came the next day! I wish I had made the switch a lot sooner. I also appreciated them being open at 7am. Hunt & Sons came to the rescue after the propane corporate giant had left my tenants without propane for four days! Instead of calling me or leaving a note on the door about a vehicle being in the way the first time the propane delivery was made on February 21, they just let my tenants run out of propane. I called the I unsympathetic company Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Today, March 9, and still no propane delivery has been done as I write this review. I googled local propane companies in Reno and Nan solved my problem right away. A few hours later, Calvin, the propane driver, called me to tell me he would be at my property before 3:00 TODAY! Now that's what a professional propane company does for a customer. They respond and resolve the issue quickly and efficiently. Nan was so sweet and caring, and a pleasure to talk to as she became my propane angel! She literally rescued my tenants! I highly recommend Hunt & Sons, as Nan cared about my situation and my tenants. She immediately sent the necessary documents to me . I signed and sent them back to her and now I am a new customer. I also canceled my propane account with the same corporate propane giant, who was servicing. my cabin in Tahoe. Now, I'm using Hunt & Sons for that property as well. PS: The big propane company only cared when I fired them, as that was the first time I received a call. It was not about my tenants who had suffered for ,four days!
