Beef carpaccio
Jordan S.

we did the new year's eve tasting experience, so this review is probably most relevant for anyone doing future tasting menus. I've included a picture of the menu -- the cost was $200 per person and $45 for the pairings or you could do a la carte. The price felt very fair for a NYE 7 course menu. Pros: * the first four courses were fantastic, the attention to detail on each component felt very thought through. The oysters were the perfect amount of briny and the caviar was delicious, the carpaccio was some of (if not the) best i've ever had, the leek soup was perfection and the poached lobster was so buttery and portions were generous. * The chef was so personable and absolutely hilarious when presenting the dishes Cons/Inconsistencies from other reviews: * The experience was set to start at 9, they were still flipping tables and we didn't get in til about 9:10, seated til 9:15, and water til 9:25. Drinks took another ~15 minutes * They had one waitress & head of events for ~25 people. Water was inconsistently refilled and drinks were almost always gone before you were able to order another * The fish course was a little overcooked and missing the uni and we found the meat (while delicious) was a little unimaginative * I ordered a glass of wine midway through course 6 that was forgotten until the last course was served, and then the head of events came over to ask if i still wanted it. Overall, it was still an incredible way to ring in the new year and we'd recommend TRP taste

Just went for a Christmas party dinner. The private setting made you feel enthused and excited to have the opportunity to try food you would never have. The service was Awsome. Always a clean dish and silverware. Your water glass never ran dry. When you were done with the course they would remove all silverware and plate. Than replaced when the next dish came out. The chef explained the dish you were about to embark on. I'm a big guy thinking I would have to go out after for a snack but was mistaken. After all six plate a full course I was stuffed. Now on to the food. Every single bite you took was a little different than your last. Tasting some different with all the ingredients coming out. You sat there with the food in your mouth savoring it to the last morsel. This is a must to do when you are in this area. You will never have this kind of food experience where you can ask the chef questions and how they came up the dish etc.

What a fun experience! Our friend held a private dining experience here at TRP Taste for her birthday. You can hold private events, but it is also open to the public when private events aren't taking place. It's a small and intimate environment - highly recommended for private parties! Would be great for birthdays, bridal or baby showers, etc. You can clearly see everything going on in the kitchen, which is pretty cool! Our chef was Lindsey Waters and she was fantastic. She and the team were super welcoming and attentive to every detail. I can't say a single bad thing about what we ate. The scallops were juicy and the flavor was outstanding. I loved the potato purée that accompanied it. The gnocchi was AMAZING. It's lighter than your traditional italian gnocchi but just as delicious. The salad was fresh and delicious - I would just have liked to see some more greens on there. The shortrib was EXQUISITE. wow!!!! The crème fraiche just brought it all together. I could have eaten another plate! The lemon tart was pretty good. I'm not big on dessert and if I choose dessert it's usually not anything lemony or tarte, but I was pleasantly surprised! It wasn't overwhelming. Again, this was such a fun experience and if you're looking to do something different - this is an awesome choice! Not cheap but you get your money's worth.

Love the atmosphere and idea of this restaurant. It is very cozy but modern and their food is next level. It is pricey but I haven't left hungry. I have had 3 different chefs and I like the ones who are interactive with the guests throughout the meal. It is a much better experience when the chefs are personable and louder

Wow what an amazing experience. The food and service was exceptional. Chef Lyndsey and her team made such a memorable impression. Recommend for a great date night or a group of friends.

Chef's tasting with wine pairing was such an amazing experience! Delicious food, wine, and entertainment. We sat at the bar right infront of the chefs and chatted with them all night. The price is very reasonable too. You will NOT leave hungry or sober :)

After our amazing 1st experience here a couple months ago, we went back and this time the star chef at the helm of this event was Chef Martin Verano...he took us on a 7 course, mostly seafood adventure using the freshest of local Florida ingredients. Once again, TRP Taste proved to have the most interesting culinary experience in Broward. Also, I can't forget to give a shout out to all of the staff that do such a great job. These chefs couldn't pull it off w/out them. Please see the pictures for a more detailed description of each course.

Merit that I do not think Double Luck deserves just yet. My honest review is more like 3.5 stars. The atmosphere and service were great, particularly I can say that the servers had a great attention to detail with all the tables. It felt like they came at all the right times and had a keen on instantly picking up trash from a table or dirty plates that made us feel great and well taken care of. Now onto the food, we started off with crab raccoons, and the say the least it was pretty underwhelming, and not as expected. The filling had a strong almost like cheese, filled paste, very little crab, taste, and feel. We then ordered the eardrop salad with cucumber, and I would like to say this was probably the best meal of the night and it was a salad very refreshing light great textures, a true delight. We then proceeded to order the crab fried rice along with the Hennessy chicken. The crab fried rice was good as you would expect. It's fried rice and nothing special. Nothing on this world could probably get this anywhere and have the same taste in fuel. Good size was the portion it's completely shareable with one other person which was honestly great. The Hennessy chicken was just how you would expect it like walking into a more upscale panda express. Overall, that's just how it felt like we were at a more elevated. Upscale Chinese restaurant did not really feel too traditionally Chinese just maybe a place that wants to look sexy for the Instagram photos. To be put on a top 25 restaurant in Miami with the great places and and who is I think you need to really elevate your game and stand out when it comes to the food and not just the gimmicks. I have a true soft spot for the hospitality industry so I would never give a restaurant three stars as I know how hard it is to do good and great work so I hope double luck the best and that they could truly elevate their game and come with more unique dishes.

I highly recommend getting a table outside near the water if one is available. It's such a calmer and more romantic yet fun and beautiful experience when you're seated at the tables near the water. The location of them are perfect for date nights or special occasions!! Especially when you go during sunset! Overall it's just a place with a long wait and is a very enjoyable delicious time. The wait is so worth it! (They don't take reservations) The place had a bunch of great relaxing yet lively yet romantic type of vibes and you're surrounded by happy people- including the employees (atleast it seems so) and THE FOOD is just. I don't have the words. I mean, basically everything we've ever ordered at this restaurant has had us in shock after taking the first bites. Like even down to the French fries being yum! The lobster siracha mac and cheese (not sure what it's called on menu) is just my favorite and I crave it everyday if my life including right now as I write this Great staff also. Pricier than a typical restaurant but worth it because it's not a typical restaurant and it's not typical-tasting food.

It's very busy and loud there, though, if you are eating indoors at the bar like I was. The bartenders and barbacks are very busy. The restaurant is known for something called "Scoobies" which per Google Gemini are "crab claws (traditionally blue crab or snow crab) that have been partially de-shelled--leaving just the "pincher" as a handle--and sautéed in a rich sauce of garlic, butter, and olive oil with crushed red pepper and scallions." I didn't get the Scoobies because I was apprehensive about how difficult they would be to eat. My dishes were fried oysters, fish tacos, and coconut shrimp platter. They were all fine, but unremarkable. The platter comes with fries and cole slaw as listed, but when I said to the bartender that I didn't need cole slaw, just extra fries, he offered/clarified that I could substitute another side instead, so I went with broccoli. I did notice that there were many flies flying around when my shrimp platter came out. One of the other bartenders put out a plate of hot sauce to repel the flies, which helped. The place is famous and sells its own merchandise like shirts and hats. It is not located near other restaurants, and you'll have to walk fifteen minutes or get an Uber if you are discouraged by the waiting time. The people dining here look like they are pretty well off and are able to enjoy life.

There is limited street parking which can be a bit of a challenge but the setting is so lovely that it is worth it. Admission to the market place is free. It was advertised as having 52 vendors and I would guess there wasn't even half of that. The vendors that were there sold sunglasses, clothing, second hand items, home services like gutters, and jewelry. My favorite vendor was Carolyn who sold second hand jewelry on the porch of the New River Inn. I loved poking through her treasures. She got all my money and I left with an opal ring, silver chain, and two pendants. Bring cash with you because some vendors like Carolyn do not accept cards. The event was advertised as having food and the only vendor I saw was Taco Baja selling tacos. There are a ton of restaurants in the area if the on site food is not to your liking. The museum is open during the market and adults can tour for $15. The New River Inn was built in 1905 and was one of Ft. Lauderdale's earliest hotels. History Ft. Lauderdale operates several historic buildings in this one area. The New River is very picturesque and it is a great place to take a stroll even if there is nothing going on. I enjoyed my market visit. These types of outdoor markets are very popular now and I think the great location has the potential to make this market a major event, especially if they add some more food and merchandise vendors.

Like "let's take pictures before we eat because this patio belongs in a lifestyle magazine" gorgeous. Las Olas energy at its finest. The outdoor seating is fantastic, the atmosphere feels upscale without being stuffy, and honestly, the food was outstanding. Which is why this hurts. We came for Mother's Day brunch and intentionally avoided rushing over for happy hour pricing because we wanted a relaxed meal. Adult decision. Responsible. Mature. Mistake number one apparently. Started with the charred corn and avocado dip and I need whoever created that dish to be recognized with some sort of civic award. Ridiculously good. One of those appetizers where you immediately start calculating whether licking the bowl in public is socially acceptable. Then came the steak and eggs discussion. My wife and I were both looking at the steak and eggs listed on the menu for $26.75. Our waiter explained that the standard steak was only four ounces and casually suggested upgrading to a six ounce or eight ounce cut instead. Now listen carefully because this is where the plot twists into a financial thriller. At no point during this conversation was pricing for the upgrade mentioned. And shame on me for not asking. That part is absolutely on me. But the suggestion was delivered with the same casual energy as "would you like fries with that?" So I upgraded to the eight ounce. My wife went with the six ounce. She also had a margarita she loved. We skipped dessert because we were stuffed and, as it turns out, accidentally entering a luxury cattle futures market. Then the handheld payment machine arrived. $175. I stared at that screen like it had just informed me my mortgage was due immediately. Turns out those extra six ounces of sirloin between the two plates carried an upcharge that could finance a small fishing boat. Roughly ten dollars an ounce for the upgrade. Somewhere, a Wagyu cow laughed at me from a distance. And look, before anybody jumps in, yes... I should have asked. Lesson learned. But restaurants also know exactly what they're doing when upgrade pricing gets floated around casually without numbers attached. There's a difference between upselling and a sneak attack. Which makes this review frustrating because I genuinely loved almost everything else. The food was excellent. The atmosphere was fantastic. Service was friendly. But nothing tanks the ending of a brunch quite like feeling blindsided by steak math. Pro tip for future diners: If they suggest the upgraded steak, ask the price immediately. Ask twice. Possibly get it notarized. Three stars because I really do want to come back someday. But right now I still feel like I got hit with a reverse happy hour.
