It had popcorn ceilings throughout and a weird configuration of lighting in the kitchen. We hoped to address the popcorn ceilings prior to moving in to avoid the mess. He had a deadline to be out of his apartment (about six weeks) which didn't leave much time. We had consulted with Robert on another house that needed work and he had given a prompt, professional, very fair bid, but that deal fell through. So when we needed help, we called him again. Once again, he was prompt, professional and the bid was way less than we expected. He said he would try his best to get us done within our timeframe and he certainly did. When he said he would be there, he was there and did exactly as promised. He kept us informed about the job and and his crew did great work. He did all of this while recovering from shoulder surgery! On top of that, he is really a nice guy and very easy to work with. He got us done well before our deadline and now our son is in his home. The shower needed to be enlarged, and so it was necessary to knock out parts of the ceiling of the bathroom. Since Paul has a degree in engineering, I felt very confident even as I looked at my bathroom being completely torn apart. I also wanted to enclose some cupboards in my extended kitchen. Since my house was built in 1990, there were no standard cupboards that would match. Paul designed cupboard doors that are beautiful! You cannot tell the previous cupboard doors from the new ones that he made. I also wanted a pocket door to blend with the other cupboards, and Paul designed it and the door matches perfectly. His partner Leon, helped with the renovation of the Master bath. I found both Paul and Leon to be personable, accomodating, and most importantly very competent. Sam Tuttle was hired to do a build out on our metal building to be an Airbnb. In short Sam Tuttle is an con-artist. He mismanaged the funds for the job he was hired to do. He lied about how he spent the funds. He asked for more money when he knew he was going on vacation. Then he asked for the entire amount of the project when his agreement stated "three installments as the project moved forward." He refused to follow our vision. He did things his way and when we asked him for explanations he said he was going to need more money. In a meeting in our home he insulted our guest when they asked him a question. He got into a screaming match at our front door because he didn't want to answer legitimate questions about the concerns we were having. On this same day he walked off the job. Sam said he was a Christian and that he was honest. He was recommended by a close family friend which is why we hired him. There were huge discrepancies about how the money was spent. He told us different amounts on three different occasions which he why we wanted to talk to him. We knew based on the material at the job site and the number of days he worked that there was no way he could have spent all of the first installment. Because Sam walked off the job in anger we asked him for an amount we believed he should return to us. He agreed to this amount in an email and then has refused to pay us. He does not return our emails, he does not return our texts. This is the first time I have ever left a bad review for anyone. In this case, it is the right thing to do. Sam Tuttle is not ethical. He took advantage of me and my 82 year old mother. He lied to us. He mismanaged the funds and walked off the job in anger. I do not suggest you use him for any service. We regret trusting in him and allowing him into our home. Do not use his services. Stay away!!

Joseph Jones with D&J Solutions has been a miracle worker! He is a consummate professional;…read moreextremely competent, knows EVERYONE, and is very responsive and amenable to customer input and requests. All you have to do is let him know what you need! He gave us an estimate in October for a remodel of our kitchen and master bath, as well as for upgrades throughout the house, which we needed before we put it on the market. We knew we wouldn't be ready to start work until the end of December, but he and his workers worked around our schedule. Joseph even went with me to pick out tile, and helped by suggesting the most up-to-date and popular "looks." The "demo" started in January and, as expected, things got changed and added as we started getting everything installed. Joseph was extraordinarily responsive to our needs and our desires, always offering explanations, alternatives, and suggestions whenever a problem or question arose. We ended up with a "new" master bathroom, new flooring almost throughout the house, a whole new look to the kitchen, and so much more! The whole house was painted (including the 2-story-high ceilings in the family and office spaces), the deck and pergola were stained, our new front door was made and installed to our specs, new main area ceiling fans and lighting, and new hardware and fixtures throughout the house. All pre-inspection repairs were made, and any time there was an issue outside his expertise or ability, Joseph was able to recommend one or more companies to handle the problem (e.g. getting the pool or windows cleaned). Joseph and all his "guys" (Reuben, David, Alex, Sarah, and others) were friendly and professional. They always listened and worked with us to ensure our expectations were met or exceeded. Joseph supervised every aspect, even when working on several jobs at once, and was super responsive, answering calls and texts at any hour. (I know he personally stayed until 2 am, helping finish some work prior to an open house!) I recommend D&J Solutions HIGHLY. They will work with you to make sure you are happy!!

I have recommended Marks Builders to many of my family and friends, and they've all had great things to say too.  Read on if you want the whole story! I had a leak in a wall between two bathrooms, above the kitchen.  Just to set the scene, my wife was pregnant and we had a baby due 3 weeks after the start of the construction.  My kitchen had a dropped ceiling and was original to the 1970s house.  Dustin worked with State Farm (my insurance carrier) to bring the adjuster's repair estimate up to a par. He and his team worked with us to order cabinets early (we were getting custom cabinets so they had a long lead time), then they gutted the kitchen and bathroom, raising the ceiling to 8' (reworking the HVAC, plumbing, and electrical lines in the process).  They pulled up all of the tile in the downstairs while we were out of the house (and in the hospital having the baby).  We asked for a few days at home without construction when we came home, to which they agreed. They worked hard to make sure that the house was ready for cabinets when they would be delivered. The cabinets were delivered without issue and installed the same week, with the trim taking longer than any other single step because they wanted it to look just right - and it paid off! The finishing touches make all the difference! The granite crew came in and did their thing. Like all of Dustin's sub-contractors, they were on time, professional, and courteous. They did their work well, quickly, and cleanly. We opted for granite counters and granite backsplashes, with different edge finishes in different places, corners, etc. to work around. They did it all well. Our kitchen looks fantastic, even a year and a half later. Through the whole 2-month process, Dustin's crew was on-site 4-6 days/week, except when we asked for the break. We made a lot of changes midway through, and Dustin didn't nickel and dime on the little things (moving an outlet, changing from a 2 gang to a 4 gang plug, etc). He was happy to work with my attention to detail (which can frustrate most people I know) and he did it with a smile - his attention to detail was similar. His crew was always fun to have around, and I never once worried about them being in the home, whether I was there or not. They worked hard to make sure we felt safe with them in the house at the start of Covid. All said, I strongly recommend Marks Builders. They're honest, smart, hard-working, and fun people who care about the work they produce and their customers' experience.

I have watched my immediate family members spend money on fixing up their homes only to have the work they ended up with being shoddy with crooked tiles, structural issues, etc. It is scary to spend thousands of dollars on work that may turn out badly.
