We were very disappointed with our experience overall. The project started with one estimate, but…read morecosts alsmost doubled without clear communication or advance approval, particularly with the electrical work, where only part of the originally discussed scope was completed despite much higher charges. We ended up removing items from the project just to stay closer to the original budget. We also had concerns with the quality of the patching and paint work after the electrical installation, which was left in poor condition, and we were then asked to pay extra to complete or correct it. Finally, after measuring our pantry, the contractor ordered approximately custom doors for $1200 that ultimately did not fit the opening and would have required modification during installation. After consulting another contractor, we learned there were much simpler and less expensive options available. Overall, communication, scope clarity, workmanship, and transparency around pricing and change orders were lacking.

Sam Tuttle was hired to do a build out on our metal building to be an Airbnb. In short Sam Tuttle is an con-artist. He mismanaged the funds for the job he was hired to do. He lied about how he spent the funds. He asked for more money when he knew he was going on vacation. Then he asked for the entire amount of the project when his agreement stated "three installments as the project moved forward." He refused to follow our vision. He did things his way and when we asked him for explanations he said he was going to need more money. In a meeting in our home he insulted our guest when they asked him a question. He got into a screaming match at our front door because he didn't want to answer legitimate questions about the concerns we were having. On this same day he walked off the job. Sam said he was a Christian and that he was honest. He was recommended by a close family friend which is why we hired him. There were huge discrepancies about how the money was spent. He told us different amounts on three different occasions which he why we wanted to talk to him. We knew based on the material at the job site and the number of days he worked that there was no way he could have spent all of the first installment. Because Sam walked off the job in anger we asked him for an amount we believed he should return to us. He agreed to this amount in an email and then has refused to pay us. He does not return our emails, he does not return our texts. This is the first time I have ever left a bad review for anyone. In this case, it is the right thing to do. Sam Tuttle is not ethical. He took advantage of me and my 82 year old mother. He lied to us. He mismanaged the funds and walked off the job in anger. I do not suggest you use him for any service. We regret trusting in him and allowing him into our home. Do not use his services. Stay away!!

We needed a complete over-haul incorporating the kitchen with the dining room. They reconfigured walls, moved the sink, installed a new window and new door. They replaced the cabinets and installed a beautiful quartz countertop and backsplash. We ended up having them resurface and paint the living room walls since the kitchen walls looked so good (we went from textured to flat). There were carpenters, plumbers, electricians, an amazing sheetrock team and other specialists that helped with everything. All of the professionals that did work, did everything according to code and I'm happy with the end result and quality of work inside and out. Communication throughout the entire process was always constant (we had a text thread going that we could reply to anytime). They planned out the order of work and explained everything I wanted to know more about. They helped refine our design and were open to suggestions to help me make better decisions and get the results I wanted. I'm happy with how everything turned out and I would definitely use them again or recommend them to anyone looking to update their house.

He discussed the scope of what I wanted, and we made an appointment (within a week!) to meet so he could look at it in person. Again, when he came out, I got a really solid sense that this man knew what he was doing. He didn't radiate charm or try to impress me, and that impressed me. I asked why I should have the old tile replaced, rather than sealing the cracks with, say, caulk, and he explained the downside to that (cheap) solution. He explained in detail the steps that his workers would take to remove the old tile and then install new waterproof barrier and the new tile. He gave me options--did I want a niche? What kind of grout did I want to use? Did I want to replace the shower? And he talked about price. Then he went back to his office and sent me a statement of work for approval. Then he sent me a quote, with a reminder of the unknowns involved that could change the costs. He scheduled the job about two weeks out, and recommended The Tile Shop for tile. They were very helpful (see my review of The Tile Shop). His workers were very professional, and they even taped plastic over the open walls when they finished removing the tile, so we could use the tub over the weekend. The installation went well, especially as we had to wait a day for the plumber to install the new shower. By the end of the next week it was complete and the grout was curing.
