We received a vast range of estimates. While Alberto was not the lowest, he seemed both fairly priced and knowledgeable. We got a bit overwhelmed by all that we were planning and backed off of our project for a bit. Then it took us a while to find slabs that we liked for our new counters. Once we did, we were ready to move forward. It had been 5 months. When we circled back around, we called Alberto, as we had previously decided that he would be the contractor that we would hire. He didn't seem to mind our delay, although his estimate did increase some. To be fair, this is 2023 and inflation has been terrible. We hired Alberto and his team (Alba Construction) to drop a pony wall, square off an arch, redo that drywall and paint in that area, paint 2 large 2 story interior walls, demo our kitchen counters, demo 4 bathroom vanity counters, demo the kitchen backsplash (in preparation for new counters and new backsplash), cap a pot light and drywall over, install 2 new drop lights over the kitchen counter, and install a pot filler line. He had 5-8 different guys that he lined up for different days and they each had different specialties. They showed up when he said they would and they did their jobs cleanly and efficiently. Alberto was also here working and supervising a good amount of the time. They cleaned up after themselves and finished on time. Overall, we are happy and wouldn't hesitate to hire Alberto again.

I had the opposite experience with Alberto. He really cares about helping people get the job done at very reasonable price. He was very communicative, punctual, patient, and even early. Our home had foundation issues originally. We got them fixed (And a lifetime warranty to boot!), but if you saw all the cracks in our wall from the house shifting, you'd never know it. Luis, in no time, got the inside of our home to reflect the safe, brand new structure that we now had inside. He was polite, gave us a good price and paid attention to details (Our white paints were apparently not all the same shade, so he repainted them all for free. We paid for the paint, but he would have done that too since it wasn't in the original quote). He even called a week or so after the repairs were done to see how we were doing. I was not satisfied with way the master bathroom tile in the shower and floor turned out. Big gaps in the grout and against the floorboards, no apologies, and just excuses. Also, wasn't happy that I didn't receive the vanity we discussed-- I requested a floating vanity and was told that was what I was getting, but that is not what was delivered. The workers left a pile of their meal garbage in the work area each day and left garbage from the work they did scattered throughout the front yard. Such a mess! I expected better time management. They started my job-- but then I guess they have other jobs that were deemed more important so my project dragged on much longer than expected. Since the real estate market was so volatile, I believe the delays costs us money when we were finally able to get the house on the market. I also expected the Rojas Family Tile would handle payment processing in a more professional manner. Asking me to lie on PayPal or Venmo by stating this was a "friends & family" transaction is not a professional business practice. Processing fees are part of your business expenses-- I know because I have run several businesses. Hopefully, things have improved with Rojas Family Tile since we used them in 2021.
