Hiring contractors is scary. It's right up there with hiring a mechanic. I consulted Yelp and read through dozens of reviews for different contractors. We called 5 of them for estimates. We received a vast range of estimates. While Alberto was not the lowest, he seemed both fairly priced and knowledgeable. We got a bit overwhelmed by all that we were planning and backed off of our project for a bit. Then it took us a while to find slabs that we liked for our new counters. Once we did, we were ready to move forward. It had been 5 months. When we circled back around, we called Alberto, as we had previously decided that he would be the contractor that we would hire. He didn't seem to mind our delay, although his estimate did increase some. To be fair, this is 2023 and inflation has been terrible. We hired Alberto and his team (Alba Construction) to drop a pony wall, square off an arch, redo that drywall and paint in that area, paint 2 large 2 story interior walls, demo our kitchen counters, demo 4 bathroom vanity counters, demo the kitchen backsplash (in preparation for new counters and new backsplash), cap a pot light and drywall over, install 2 new drop lights over the kitchen counter, and install a pot filler line. He had 5-8 different guys that he lined up for different days and they each had different specialties. They showed up when he said they would and they did their jobs cleanly and efficiently. Alberto was also here working and supervising a good amount of the time. They cleaned up after themselves and finished on time. Overall, we are happy and wouldn't hesitate to hire Alberto again. read more

I've heard a lot of nightmare stories about general contractors being hard to get a hold of, being late, charging a lot of money/milking hours, or being unreliable in general. I had the opposite experience with Alberto. He really cares about helping people get the job done at very reasonable price. He was very communicative, punctual, patient, and even early. He helped me install a door in a very crooked doorframe. It would've driven us nuts trying to install it ourselves. He did a great job, considering the circumstances. I would definitely hire him again. read more

I never leave reviews online, but Alberto Garcia was so stellar that I have to make an exception. Alberto showed up within the timeframe he said he would for both the bid and the job (adding flooring in our attic), was easy to text with throughout the process, came to the table with a competitive bid, and did great work. But what I appreciated most of all was his honesty and commitment to his prices. The day of the job happened to coincide with an absurdly busy work day for me - so much so that I only had time to let Alberto into the house and then had to run back into meetings. Later, Alberto finished the job and informed me that he ended up doing more work than what was initially bid because it was the best solution. At the time I couldn't even check his work, so I thanked him for finishing it, and went about my crazy day. It wasn't until later that evening I was able to even go and inspect the work he did, and I was very impressed! He ended up needing to add additional height to the floors to avoid the electrical, which I know added considerable more work to what his initial plan was. The fact that he both cared so deeply about doing a good job and also took great lengths to respect my busy schedule and simply absorb the cost of doing the better thing was something I've never seen from a contractor before. I would HIGHLY recommend Alberto. Side note: I can't believe somebody left this guy a 1 star review for a job that wasn't even accepted. Some people are the worst. read more

Mr. Alberto Garcia is amazing! He helped us repair and remodel our recent purchase in S.E Austin. The house needed many things to be repaired and updated. He is very honest, hard working, and does excellent work. We needed the backdoor changed, a damaged window repaired, recessed lights put in, appliances installed, a plumbing issue that needed repair, fence repair, and tile grouting. He even recommended someone that could help repair our garage door!! We were glad to find someone that could do everything and always gave us an estimate of the labor and materials. He is busy because he is very good, but once we scheduled a job he always took great care in getting it done well and on time. He picked up materials we ordered, and always provided receipts for materials he had to buy! Next, he will build a patio for us, and we hope to have his help for all our home updates and repairs in the future. I would highly recommend Mr. Alberto Garcia to help you with your project. read more

Alberto completed a makeover of our back patio area. Repaired, re-roofed and extended the patio roof, refinished the concrete slab (which had cosmetic damage from an earlier plumbing repair), completely enclosed the patio with custom built fiberglass screen panels, and built a railed 8 x 20 deck on the exterior. We were able to accomplish the full scope we were hoping for within our budget. He has experienced mill carpenters on hand and subbed the roofing and concrete masonry. Alberto visited several times while developing his bid, was present at the job site each day, and reviewed the work with me at the end of each day. The work was done continuously and completed in a little more than a week. The carpentry is professional and labor rates are very reasonable. Alberto and his crew are courteous, trustworthy, and maintained a clean job site. We are happy with the job and hope to use Alberto for our next project. read more

Alberto helped me get a condo back in shape. He's got the painters, plumbers, tiling guys all ready to go. They painted, fixed a door, tiled a floor, fixed a minor plumbing issue (and several other things). Alberto was always responsive and showed up to make things right. All in all I had a great experience. The only minor nit would be the tiling wasn't perfect in a corner (but I'm also very detail oriented). The job had to be done in a tight timeframe and Alberto was extremely reliable. He started a day sooner than he said he would. And it all got done on time. When new things showed up he came in on a Saturday to help out. I'll be definitely coming back to ask for more help in the future. read more

I was very impressed by Alberto honestly. I reached out to him on Yelp and he provided an estimate, was easy to schedule. I had him tear down a wooden porch & add a wooden gate. His prices are very reasonable, he is easy to schedule, is communicative and helpful with ideas. He did a particularly great job with the gate -- made it really strong, used thicker boards than what was there, reinforced what was there so we didn't have to add new posts (and cost) to the project. It looks great. read more

They came out for an estimate and told us they were booked about 4 weeks out (fine. Not an emergency) and then never contacted us again. I followed up with three messages on Yelp. I received no response to the first 2 even though they were labeled as read. Finally on the third I asked why they weren't responding and to please simply tell us if they were too busy to take the job. They finally responded with a yes, they were too busy, which is fine. I just wish they hadn't wasted our time with a pointless consultation for which I rearranged plans, and then ignored us. read more

I loved working with Alberto. I have done many remodeling projects in the past but never worked with someone as excellent as Alberto. He arrived on time for the bid, was very competitive in his pricing, and asked more questions than all other contractors about the job. Alberto's attention to detail and care were impressive. He used to build Pacific Homes so is very knowledgeable about the construction of homes. Alberto estimated only 3 weeks max to finish my entire master bathroom and kitchen backsplash; he finished on time! which seldom happens in remodeling. On top of the major work, he also did other small tasks on the side, i.e. hanging my kitchen lighting, new electrical work, and new toilet installation in many bathrooms. Alberto was extremely flexible with any changes I made during the project (which was many) I thoroughly recommend hiring Alberto as your contractor. He does everything, no matter how small the project. I am looking forward to working with him again in the next few months read more

I had Alberto repair a hole in my siding that an animal had made. He was quick, easy to work with, and completed everything to my satisfaction. Will use again and would recommend! *Update: I had Alberto add some lattice above my fence for added privacy. I had sent him the link for the specific lattice I wanted. He either couldn't find it, or was told wrong by the home store employee (depending on which version of the story u believe) so he built the whole thing w the wrong lattice. And he had told me that it would need a cross bar for stability, but ended up using a completely different kind of PAINTED WHITE wood on top of the pretty spruce. And instead of putting the cross bar in the middle of the span, he put it a foot away from the 4c4 post. It looked ridiculous. He ended up saying he wasn't actually there and his workers had done these silly looking things. I wouldn't pay for it, so he ended up disassembling everything he had done. I guess he's ok for quick fixes, but if any finesse is involved, find someone else. read more

Alberto showed up on-time (actually 15 minutes early) for both the consultation and the job. He and another man arrived to install our range hood above the stove with a vent going out the side of the house. I'm impressed how quickly and cleanly he did the job! It looks great and we couldn't be happier. We also had a floating vanity that needed to be installed into a fully tiled wall, and he was able to do that as well. Everything was done in about 5 hours which was really impressive given there were only 2 people working and they had to go through concrete walls! He's my go-to handyman from now on. Very happy with Alberto's team. They came out quickly to remove an animal carcass that was decomposing in the walls of our chimney. His siding team professionally removed the upper chimney siding, diagnosed the issue, resealed the upper chimney siding, then made an incision on the side of the house to get at the problem area. The source was removed, aired out, and resealed like new. His team was fast, courteous, professional and did excellent work. I'm hoping to line up some more tasks together. read more

What are you looking for in a contractor? Professionalism? Meeting your deadline at the price quoted? Quickness? Beautiful results? Alberto met all of our expectations, at our agreed-upon price, and he was quick about it as well. He works fast!!! I called Alberto on a Tuesday, he came out an hour or two later for an estimate.
