The only reason I put one star is because our smoothies came out good. Went to patchogue location on 4/15/19. Ordered four smoothies with one person ahead of me. Waited 25!!!! Minutes before getting the smoothies. There was three workers in the back so this shouldn't have been the case. Person before me also complained about waiting 20 minutes for two smoothies- actually asked for a refund because he couldn't wait any longer. I order from here a lot. I love tropical smoothie and so do my two small children. I do want to mention an incident that happened to me this morning. I bought two smoothies one to drink in my drive to work and one to drink around my break time. Well the second smoothie ended up having pieces of some sort of foil/aluminum wrapper I almost choked on it but hacked it back up by spitting the drink out of my mouth. I feel like things like this should not happen. God forbid it was one of my children's smoothies that had these pieces in it they would have choked and not have been able to get it out of their throat. I understand mistakes happen but I reallllly hope tropical smoothie patchogue or someone higher up sees this and takes this serious and ensures things like this do not happen again because that is a serious thing! I understand why many people have a problem at this location. Yes at times it could take up to 8 minutes to get out food or 5 minutes for a smoothie but you have to understand the stress these workers have with all these orders. If there are 5-8 orders on the screen and they are short staffed (usually at nights) it can and probably will take a little longer than your average day time. Almost every place you go will have good and bad days and I almost feel bad for the cast members that work here. It's hard for them to make the most perfect wrap or smoothie you've ever had especially for the unexpected late night snack rushes. Of course you do have to put the blame on some workers who do not put in all there effort to do their best. But the majority of workers "younglins" (Star Wars Reference) I've seen at the Patchogue branch, are dedicated workers trying to make your experience the best they can give. I believe if they had a few extra people working throughout the day and night that the wait times would go down by 18% (according to my calculations). But overall props to this location for doing almost their best. P.S. You have to realize some of these cast members working do not have much experience as others, if they just started working there they need time to perfect the art of blending and building. read more

This is one of the worst tropical smoothie cafes I've ever been to. The service is extremely slow, the staff has no personality or manners. They also do not wear gloves while preparing food or making smoothies which is very disturbing. The inside of this place is always filthy, food on tables, garbage over flowing, garbage on the floor, just gross. I also saw an employee put a customers food in a bag, drop it, and then brush it off and hand it to him. I've never been to any other tropical smoothie location, but it seems like this spot gets pretty busy. I like that there are "healthier" options, but that being said they are overall, not THAT healthy. Better than the alternative of fast food though I suppose. And they are also relatively quick here, which is nice. I never eat here, but this time I decided to try the Thai chicken wrap and I enjoyed my choice. The one thing I really don't like is not having the option of a smaller size for a smoothie! A 24 oz. smoothie is massive, and I almost never finish the whole thing. Thought that was understandable, being a minute or so behind isn't the end of the world. I didn't walk out until 4:55. Upon getting back to my car, realized my wrap was incorrect and there was a crack in my smoothie cup. At this point I waited too long to go make them fix it, but this whole experience was terrible. I must say that I was highly disappointment about the customer service at this place, mostly because I love the Island Green smoothie. I've been to another Tropical Smoothie Cafe but the employees here are rude and have a serious attitude problem. While putting in my order in the lady at the register was so bothered because she was tapping on the computer to the point that it looked like she was going to break it and continuously kept rolling her eyes; at some point I just wanted to walk out because I didn't know if she would do anything to my food or drink. Feeling ripped off. Ordered the chipotle chicken flatbread and received a flatbread drenched in sauce, a decent amount of veggies and two pathetic strips of chicken. I've had more chicken in small salads. I've been in customer service for over 15 years. I was beyond disappointed in the management of this location. On Thursday 4/18/19 I ordered a wrap and a smoothie. I received the wrap but waited over a half hour for my smoothie. I had to go to work so I couldn't wait any longer, i approached the girl working the cash register and she apologized for the wait. I asked for a refund because I could no longer wait, the manager came to the front but never looked at me, never apologized and reprimanded the cashier (he did this a few times while I was there). He never attempted to assist in making the smoothies. There were several people waiting and the people who did receive their orders did not look pleased.
