This is a small fried chicken shop deep inside Long Island. They've got several chicken flavors, and I got their tenders, chicken sandwich, and fries. Very excited to try their hot chicken of course. Ordered the classic hot chicken, medium spice level, with fries. Fries had cajun seasonings on it. The spice of the chicken is dry rub not sauce. The medium was not spicy at all. The kick came more from the sauce they put on it but it was pretty mild. The chicken was very good and juicy on the inside; just not spicy. Loved the fries. If you want the tl:dr there is something wrong when the fries are the best part of a place called Hot Chicken Mama. Ok so based on previous reviews, I was prepared to be disappointed but somehow I am more disappointed than I thought I would be. Let me start off by saying that none of the food was BAD per se. That's actually inaccurate, the cabbage on top of the chicken sando was bad but since it was a slight part of the whole experience, I won't dock them for the cabbage totally. Starting off, when I walked in there were about 8 people behind the counter and no one was like "hey welcome!" The music that was playing was definitely not family friendly and if I had my child with me I would have most certainly asked why it was playing. The spot where the cash register is oddly enough it not where you pick up your food so after waiting behind someone that young man behind the counter just pointed to say I pick up "over there" and walked away. Great start. I ordered chicken nuggets (medium) and a chicken sando (hot) with fries. Get the food home and take out the chicken nuggets and the bag is soaked through with grease. So much so that the box the chicken sando came in was also smeared with grease on top. And the strangest part of all is the chicken nuggets themselves were dry AF so WHERE DID ALL THE GREASE COME FROM?! The nuggets, while unappetizing in appearance and not even close to being hot, tasted alright. (Side note: I think the reason my food was ready in ten minutes from the time I called is because it had been sitting around which like ok, it's 7 pm, I get it but could you maybe heat it up so it's hot? It is my dinner, after all) Tried the comeback sauce, but it did not really taste like anything. Moving on to the sando and fries. The fries were great and they had a light sprinkling of seasoning which kind of tasted like whatever they sprinkle on BBQ potato chips. I can't be positive but I would hazard a guess that the fries are frozen because they are perfect crinkle cut and uniform in size. Easily the best part of the meal but frozen fries with seasoning I can make in my air fryer. The sando itself is 2 chicken tenders with slaw, pickles, and some type of sauce on a bun. The bun was falling apart, probably because it was not hefty enough to contain the sando which made a messy sandwich messier. The chicken was appropriate spice level for hot and was thankfully warmer than the nuggets. The issue that I had was that the slaw actually ruined the taste of the sando to the point that I did not even finish it. Pretty disappointing all in all. They sell quarter and half chickens and I would be curious to see what they look like but based on my experience I most certainly don't want to spend money. Yesterday I went in and got a 5 piece chicken nugget meal with onion rings and their special sauce they have, I forgot the name. So good!!! I'm getting it for dinner tonight lol. I am by no means a chicken afficianto. I've been to Nashville and tried different restaurant versions creating their spin on Nashville Hot Style chicken. When I heard there was a Nashville Hot Style Chicken place opening in Patchogue (Blue Point?) I was excited to try me some Nashville hot chicken. The issue is my wife. She doesn't eat anything spicy as well as anything with carbs. It's a challenge to dine with her so I know spicy anything isn't in her mix. They had folding chairs set up for outdoor dining. Brah, its 32 degrees! I told my wife they sell different platters with no seasoning, plain chicken. We go to the counter and I immediately order a Lavender Lemonade. Sooooo good by the way. I'm waiting for my wife to order, she's hemming and hawing over the menu. She finally asks, can I get the next level of spicy, can I have the wings easy? The counterperson says, sure! I have them all the time. Then she asks: Can I substitute the fries for something else? Absolutely not we're told. I order a medium spiced chicken sandwich, a side of brussel sprouts and head back to the car. I paid for a platter with no fries.... Came back for another review because HCM came out with a Nashville Hot Corned Beef Sandwich.... And it is FIREEEEE. At a first glance, I wasn't sure what to expect but they nailed this and it works so well. We're hoping they bring it back for St. Patrick's day later this week. Came out to pay Hague to check out the eco center and found this place after. I'm a sucker for Nashville fried chicken sandwiches so this was a no brainer. They have a small menu which I appreciate. My wife got the chicken tenders and fries, medium level heat and I got the chicken sandwich hot. Both had great flavor and were spicier than my wife could handle so I luckily got to eat both. This was my first time here. So I pulled up to the drive thru to order and was told it's for pickup only. Good to know. So I went inside to order my food. There are tables to eat inside and also an outside area to eat. The ordering was quick. Menu is hanging behind the register. Delicious Hot Chicken! This spot uses high quality ingredients and you can taste the difference. The chicken is fresh, juicy and flavorful (not the steroid injected woody chicken you get elsewhere). Staff is always friendly and helpful to answer any questions, great service. The owner is always there which is great to see. It's really easy to order here since the many levels of spice are clearly marked on the large menu above the counter. There's even "Homestyle" which has no spicy seasoning for the spicy adverse. I've had Nashville Hot Chicken before and while this wasn't exactly like the one I had originally (which I think was dredged in hot sauce before being floured and fried or perhaps after it was fried), it was still dang delicious. I ordered the signature sandwich, Which has pickles, cabbage and come back sauce which was delicious. I would absolutely order this again. Next time I might order thigh if they will accommodate that request. I don't know but I always prefer a thigh meat over white meat. We also ordered the onion straws which were delicious. My favorite place to get chicken tenders!! I've been here a few times and each time is just as good as the first! This place is definitely consistently delicious. I'm not a sandwich lover, so being able to enjoy the chicken on its own with a side of fries is right up my alley. The flavors range from "home style" which is just their house spices with little to no heat, to mild, medium, hot, and then extremely hot! -- And trust me, they don't mess around with their heat! Hello everyone! On 6/2/2021, a friend and I traveled out to Blue Point to check out this little place that is known for their Nashvile style hot chicken, called Hot Chicken Mama. Now you may be thinking "so, how was the chicken there?" You may be surprised to know that we didn't get the chicken: instead we got their special for the week, a hot lobster roll. I know it may sound strange for a chicken place to offer lobster roll but hear me out...I thought it was delicious. This is a special that they posted on their Instagram posts, so your mileage may vary in terms of being able to get this item so this info is as of 6/2/2021. When we entered the store, we were greeted with the wonderful smell of fried chicken, fries, and onion straws wafting through the place. We approached the counter and informed the staff that we wanted to order the hot lobster roll. I ended up ordering a side of fries, and their strawberry lemonade, while my friend ordered a side of onion straws and the lavender lemonade. What I like about this place is that they ask you what level of spice we wanted on the lobster roll, so you could choose from easy, medium, hot, loud, and XL. Being my first time here, I ordered mine with medium heat. I didn't realize that the lobster roll already came with crinkle fries, so when I ordered a side of fries, what I got in addition was another box filled with fries that could feed like 4-5 people. (Not pictured). As you can see from the photo, this lobster roll was a bit different than what I've had from other places. The lobster meat was well chopped, not too big and not too small. It appears to have been butter poached and then seasoned with their Nashvile hot seasoning, and it had slightly sweet aioli that reminds me of Japanese "bang bang" sauce that you'd find at a sushi restaurant, and to add a bit of texture to their potato roll, it had a little bit of shredded red cabbage. First bite was soft and textured with the crunch of the red cabbage and the lobster meat was very flavorful with the spice coating, and the light drizzle of the aioli really mimicked a buttery taste to it. I mentioned the word butter poached earlier, I'm not sure if that's how they actually prep the lobster but it was not over cooked, had a nice soft but firm texture to it. Really enjoyable as you're not trying to chew through big chunks, you get manageable pieces with each bite. The crinkle cut fries were well seasoned and flavorful, most were cooked crispy, but some were a bit mushy. Strawberry lemonade was delicious as they have house made syrups to give it flavor. Overall experience of this place was excellent, the indoor seating was quite limited, but they had picnic tables set up outside. You can order your food to go where they would text you when you're food was ready, or use their drive thru window. I definitely plan on coming back again to try their chicken dishes, highly recommend for a good quick bite to eat, hope you all have a chance to try this summer special lobster roll if that's your thing. 4/5 rating from me. read more
