Just stopped in to place an order to go. (Sunday, March 1st - 1010am) Two men working did not seem happy to be there. No greeting, no smiles, nothing! While making our açaí bowl and protein bowls one of the workers grabbed into the canisters of toppings (extremely insanitary) with bare hands and shoved the toppings into his own mouth and then did it again with another topping while making one of the bowls. When we confronted him he denied it.....we saw you do it. He did not apologize, he denied it and actually gave us dirty looks instead. I hope neither of these employees are management or ownership. Ownership of this establishment needs to know this is unacceptable behavior. I work in customer service and I was absolutely appalled at their actions. This location always does a great job of blending the smoothies up perfectly! I have been to some locations where their smoothies come out with chunks. My kids like the chicken bacon ranch Flatbread. This location is a LOT better than other ones I've been to. My very first experience at Tropical Smoothie Cafe was in Overland Park and that made me avoid the franchise altogether. It was not until I met with a friend at this location in Olathe that made me open up to it again. The service was very friendly and fast. I ordered the Avocolado and it was pretty good! I would recommend that if you are into green drinks. The cup size is quite large so you get what you pay for. The establishment was also well-kept and clean. Takeout Friday. Great muscle maker smoothie with the southwest breakfast wrap. Wrap had eggs, chicken, spinach and jack cheese with a sauce. The Caribbean jerk chicken wrap with side ($7.19) was served in just four minutes. It was warm and delicious, with a good heat level, and a good amount of tasty grilled chicken. Unfortunately, the kale apple slaw portion size was stingy compared to other locations, and had barely any kale. There was also a charge for a cup of water. Today was my 4th visit since I discovered this gem last month. First impression I had and the first thing I tell people: it's clean and bright. Second: nice people, great smoothies and food. Lastly but important: surprisingly affordable! I also like that all regular smoothies are 24oz. Kid size is 12oz. Smoothies items I've tried: Chia Banana Boost (5), Triple Berry Oat (4) too berry for me but I don't like to chew my smoothies and there were bits of dates and oats. In the future, based upon the ingredients, I may ask them to blend the smoothie a bit more. Today was the Island Green (5). Food items I've tried: Island Quesadilla 5+) terrific flavor - highly recommend if you like pineapple, salsa, cilantro, queso blanco). My kids have had: chicken quesadilla (high quality chicken) and Ultimate Club (15y declared it best sandwich he's ever had). I had ordered from the app on my 3rd visit and my order was sitting in the cubbie near the front door when I arrived. When I grabbed my ordered and looked in the bag the employees reminded me that he kids meal came with a side item (fruit or chips). I appreciate that because I would have left without remembering. Yeah, no. The food here is mediocre. I didn't expect much, that's not my issue. My issue is the very rude employees. I walked in, no one wanted to greet me. They were all in back, talking, which isn't a big deal, until a customer enters. Once a customer enters, you greet them. They took my wrap order with the least amount of effort given. If they could have thrown the food at me, I'm certain they would have opted to do so. I wasn't expecting Michelin level service, but this wasn't cool. It's actually my second bad experience with them. I would actually prefer to make my own mediocre wrap at home than pass along any more money to this company. Husband and I decided to try Tropical Smoothie Cafe today after getting an offer for free smoothies. I ordered a Sunshine and he ordered a Mocha Madness. At first, the smoothies were pretty good. They were flavorful, not too sweet, and creamy. But the longer we drank, the more disappointing it got. The bottom of my husbands smoothie tasted like alcohol - very artificial. It also upset his stomach and he typically has a pretty strong stomach. My smoothie was said to be made with orange juice, but I came across multiple pieces of orange rind in the smoothie. First visit to a Tropical Smoothie. Had seen them in Vegas a couple of weeks ago and never gave it a thought. Wasn't in the mood for a smoothie. But guess what? They have so much more than smoothies! Was surprised at how much was on the menu, and was pleasantly surprised at how everything is so fresh and healthy. I ordered the Cuban sandwich and the mocha madness smoothie. Sandwich was perfectly done. It's the perfect sized sandwich, too. Not over-sized and over done like the current Man vs. Food trend seems to be; it's proportioned to a serving size like we should be eating to be healthy. The smoothie was delicious! My fiance had the Caribbean Jerk Chicken bowl, which she let me sample. Phenomenal! The jerk sauce that comes with it has got some kick to it, but not so overpowering with heat that you can't eat much. She also had the apple and kale slaw, which I shied away from because of the word "kale," but as it turns out, this was the highlight of the meal. She let me sample hers, and I'm now a fan of kale, at least in this form. Our other diner had the quesadillas and the Blimey Limey smoothie. The Blimey Limey was also very tasty! Like I said, much more variety and offerings in this place than the name of the store implies. They have wraps and bowls and several sandwiches, sides, flatbreads and what they call superfood smoothies, which are offered in several different forms, depending on what kind of proteins or vitamins you are wanting for your health. They open at 7 for breakfast, and one of their offerings is a flatbread that is toasted with peanut butter, banana, granola and honey on it. Going back in the morning to try it out. This is the third time we've been to this specific location and I have to question the ethics of their services. All three times the smoothies have been skimmed from the top. I'd say a good 10% of the cup is empty. I love Tropical Smoothie Cafe on a hot summer day, but I have some issues with it. First their food is not the best and I think they could do better with that category. Next I think they are a little pricey. Also they only have one size smoothie and I definitely think they need to have small medium and large. And finally, they have TERRIBLE service. I went there yesterday and I waited at the register for five minutes when there were about seven people working at the time, half of the people doing nothing. Then I finally ordered and I waited for 15 minutes for my smoothie. Now I get that there were A FEW people in the drive through, but there was only one lady in front or me and JESUS it took so long to make one freaking smoothie. Wonderful! I took my son here for the first time the other night. I enjoyed the Peaches n Silk and he loved the Pomegranate Plunge. The staff was very friendly and quick to serve us.
