She said the bun needed to be more substantial because she couldn't tell if she was chewing through fatty pork or a soggy, wet bun. The bright spot of the meal was definitely the cornbread. It was sweet on its own, but the honey added another level of sweetness and a nice texture that actually worked really well. The building itself is also pretty neat, it's an old church, and the setting gives the place some character. So, for me, one star goes to the building and one star goes to the cornbread. The proteins were the worst part of the meal and, unfortunately, the part that matters most at a BBQ restaurant. Maybe this is just a difference in regional BBQ preferences, but based on the BBQ I've had elsewhere, this one didn't come close to meeting my expectations.
