Continuing runner-ups of original out of town picks, representing 2021, T is for Tropical Smoothie. I visited the Laurel location maybe 2 or 3 times in 2021 and maybe once or twice since then. My August 2021 visit, I wasn't impressed with this location, and my subsequent visit I also had issues. So, like other locations smoothies & food are solid. However, in August 2021, the cashier wasn't terribly friendly. I went with his side recommendation with my flatbread or wrap purchase for the sweet potato instead of getting my usual, which is chips. I didn't like them that well; they were weak in my opinion. Further, this guy was wearing a Freedom for Palestine mask. If you're working in customer service, don't wear something that is political as people have different opinions and that can alienate some customers. The next time I went there, it was different cashier, and she was unfriendly too. I think she wanted to charge me a quarter for a water cup too. Since it was only a quarter and not a full amount, I might've paid and still been a customer that time. But it turned me off from the Laurel location. I may have gone one other time, but it may have been to redeem a freebie like going there to get the free smoothie on National Smoothie Day. read more

I've been coming to tropical smoothie Café for years. I can always count on them when I don't have the time to make a smoothie at home and I need my smoothie fix. Service is always quick and they're very consistent. I have my go to smoothies, which are the island green and the occasional mango magic. I decided to stray from the usual this time and I ordered one of their new ones. The apple pie paradise smoothie with Biscoff cookies. Not too sure if the mixture calls for all that sugar, but it was extremely sweet to the point where I couldn't finish it. I love the presentation though. Crumbled Biscoff cookies on top of the smoothie which is a blend of apples, cinnamon and coconut. You also get an extra Biscoff cookie with your order. I usually love those flavors but I do believe that the sweetness needs to be toned down a bit. Maybe I'll see if they can add less sugar or syrup to it the next time. read more

Same consistency each time, no complaints in that department but the slider? I would suggest, if you slice right on past this. It was tasteless and the ingredients didn't appear to be fresh. A friend and I went there for lunch today. I had the Thai Chicken Salad and my friend had the. Chicken Caesar Salad. Both were excellent with fresh crisp lettuce, hot chicken and an enjoyable dressing. The service was quick and the servers pleasant. The restaurant was bright, cheerful and clean. We both ordered dresses on the side so that we can control the amount of dressing that we wished to use. I would certainly recommend the Tropical Smoothie Café and plan on returning there soon. read more

I'm a faithful Tropical Smoothie Cafe customer for years. I'm new to the area, and have been frequenting this location maybe once a month if that. I've never experienced what I experienced today. I made an order through the app for a delivery today, and it was canceled. I called to inquire about the cancellation, and the manager at this location was very hostile and had poor customer service. She canceled my order herself. She said, that she cancelled because they refunded me money for 2 orders. She said that I've made them lose money. I'm asking her questions because I do not recall this. She provided dates that I did not visit this location or any Tropical Smoothie Cafe location, and told me why I was refunded. The stories she provided me were assumptions that she made up in her mind. She told me I said someone stole my credit card (complete fabrication!). I haven't even gone through an incident with my card. From the time she answered the phone, her attitude and tone was loud and very unpleasant. I tried to talk things through with her to clear everything up Let me tell you what I do, I always provide feedback about my deliveries. This location has come up short on size of wraps, the length of time to receive an order, and the smoothie was melted in another case. If they are losing money, it's due to poor service and food quality. I would stir clear of this location until another manager cycles through, or just avoid it completely. read more

This is by far one of the best place I've ever been to! I have been coming here for years and honestly.. the service isn't comparable to anywhere else I've been. I order (Chia Banana Boost, Pomegrante Plunge, Bahmama Mama, and Caribbean Jerk Wrap or Buffalo Chicken Wrap) and the vibe is so simple! I suggested to my team when we meet again we should do it here and eat. And it worked out extremely well! We were able to brainstorm and plan quickly! The service in Columbia Maryland is better. The smoothie is never consistent. It's either chunky from not being blended well or super watery with no flavor. And when I ask them about the issue they give attitude. I always order the same thing and often times I will find the lettuce bulb (hard to eat and digest) in my wrap. Which is a very unpleasant surprise because it's bitter. I don't mind driving the extra 15-20 minutes for better customer service and fresher ingredients to Columbia, Md. A lot of the workers in Laurel have an attitude. It's honestly not worth the hassle. I wasn't going to write a review, but my last smoothie was the worst. Sat in my car for a bit and proceed to walk back in and the door was locked I knocked and got the attention of an employee who smiled at me and gave the black Panther sign for Wakanda forever( arms crossed in the form of an X) I was oddly confused because how did he know that was one of my favorite movie? He proceeded to try and communicate with me with sign language. I tried to tell him I didn't understand, and I pointed to his open sign that was lit. LED style green. I get smoothies from this location often. There's some type of discrepancy that's occurring between the early afternoon crew and the evening crew. The past few times my smoothie has been watery and lacked flavor when I ordered early in the day. I usually get extra sweetener in my smoothie but I am not sure if there's too much water being added or what but my last two smoothies were not sweet at all. The evening crew however ALWAYS gets it right. The young gentleman with the locs always does an amazing job making my smoothie. Forgetful, rude service. I get that you're probably teenagers making minimum wage but at least let me finish my sentence before you so rudely cut me off. Ordered from doordash, half my smoothie was missing and the edible straw was missing from the bag. Called to tell them I was gonna make a reorder and to ask nicely that they remembered the straw that I paid an extra $2 for, but instead got cut off with a "That's doordash's problem not ours" kind of remark. This review is for the college park location. Not sure why I couldnt check in or find that location on yelp. The store is located in between Potbellys and massage envy. The space was very clean and the staff was very nice. I ordered one of their fan favorite smoothie that had strawberry, pineapple, mango and apple juice. I think the prices were fair for the size cup that you get. I actually think there is only one size. But my smoothie was delicious. I will definately be back to try other flavors read more

A coworker got me hooked on the Bahama Mama smoothie and that is the only smoothie I've tried and order, it's really really good. I tried to recreate it at home but it's not the same. I normally don't get food at smoothie places but I didn't have anything to eat one day and tried the turkey sandwich, it is so fresh and really good. The bread is always soft and warm and the lettuce is always green and crisp, I've probably tried this sandwich from this location at least 10 times now and it's always top notch. The southwestern breakfast wrap is also a favorite, it's filling and very yummy I love that there's spinach in it. Customer service is always on point. Everyone is always friendly. I was excited to have a tropical smoothie located near me being a loyal customer of the location in Columbia, MD but after visiting the new laurel location a few times it proved to be a huge disappointment. I usually get the Baja chicken wrap. I've tried it there twice now and have regretted it each time. The wraps are much smaller than what I'm used to and sloppily put together. Pieces of my chicken was cold and the food tasted flavorless. My kale and apple slaw was also very bland. Well actually I'm not sure what I ate because the leafy side order I received did not have the same texture as kale. As I have frequented the Columbia location I know what to expect and this particular location has far from delivered. The one time I got a smoothie there was good. Love this location, convenient and clean with great customer service. However, the owner/manager really needs to do something about the loitering in front of the store in the morning. A group of at least 5 men congregate on the sidewalk and sit on the steps right in front of the store every morning blocking the walkway. It is very uncomfortable to walk through and I , as well as most other ladies that I see end up walking out in the parking lot to bypass this. Just came from laurel tropical smoothie where I go 3-4 times/ wk.... usually during the day but tonight was THE WOAT in customer service I've ever experienced from them. the thing is after reading the reviews it seems a common theme with one particular person in the evening Anyway, a young gentleman took my order and instead of anyone else making my order (3 other people working) I had to wait while he took another persons order. Customer service was nice, service was fast, but the flavor was below average. I felt the smoothie lacked thickness and can't say it tasted like a peanut butter cup.
