I was impressed with Rhiannon's ability to remember seven different orders without writing a single word down. This, after an order change, an extra glass of wine thrown in, and one member of our party who needed a little help deciding what to order. Most importantly, she got every order right. The food was almost as impressive as our server with the steel trap. The salads are huge. I ordered the small and it was a very generous portion. While I would prefer an option to add a protein such as chicken or steak to any of the salads, I will say that the arugula salad with sunflower seeds and Parmesan was tangy, nutty, delicious, and filling on its own without adding any meat. Trophy offers a create-your-own pizza in a small personal size which is an excellent way of getting exactly what you want in a pizza if you don't see something you like on the menu. At a dollar per topping, I would have expected a generous amount of each topping, especially considering the small size of the personal, but the topping portions, at least on this night, seemed a bit skimpy. I love the option of having wine at a brewery and was able to enjoy a nice little red blend. Don't expect a large wine selection since they are known for their beer but don't rule out Trophy if you're not a beer drinker because you can still enjoy a glass of wine on the patio. Have been wanting to check this place out for quite some time now, but never hit them at the right time. Well, here's to starting the New Year right with a brew and pizza from Trophy! Yeah to them being open on what is a holiday to many. Yeah to the Power Horse Cup brew we each had, a Dusseldorf. (whatever that means, to me it just meant dark and tasty...almost slightly smokey) When I asked for the darkest one they had tonight, that was what was recommended and although not being porter or stout-like, it was very good. Next up, we decided to share a "Best-Dressed" large pizza. Even though the menu said no substitutions on the specialty pizzas, they did allow us to omit an item (the lamb sausage). Otherwise, our pizza had pepperoni, red onion, bacon & spinach with a nice robust sauce and lots of cheese. All ingredients tasted top quality, and the crust was thicker on some parts then others, and almost under-done. A gentleman sat down next to me at the bar before we left and ordered his"well done". I might do that next time. This pizza is very rich...two pieces did me in. Husband made it through three. Luckily we have some leftovers! Prices: VERY reasonable! Beers were five bucks each. The very large pizza with excellent quality ingredients, just $22. TIP: They have paper menus in addition to the blackboard. I say that because we were struggling at first to read the board behind a gal that was sitting in front of the description for the Best-Dressed. When I finally asked a Bartender what else was on it, paper menus were produced. (My apologies to the gal sitting by the board for what might have appeared to me staring at you. I was just trying to see around you!) Observation: We were amazed at how many folks they had working in this small establishment. There were at least four guys in the kitchen at all times, and Servers were prevalent. Parking: just look for street parking...we found some behind the building. Don't expect to find any in the teeny lot in front. Note: Chances are you will not just stumble upon this place...it's near Goodnights, with not a lot else right near it, but certainly not far from downtown, and parallel to Hillsborough Street. After traveling out of the county for the past month and not having access to delicious pizza and microbrews, I literally could not wait to come back to Raleigh and grab some Trophy brews and pizza. Although the name seems to only suggest microbrews and the potential of average pub food, don't be fooled! This place is a golden gem for those pizza and beer lovers out there! I realize everyone has their preferences when it comes to pizza and mine is toppings. I love them and want lots of them, which Trophy always delivers on. I'd have to say that my favorite pie is their Best Dressed with some ghost pepper salami added on (seriously a game changer for me! Highly recommended to those who love some heat!) I have tried their other pies and have never been disappointed with the food. They also offer up some appetizers and salads but I usually save room for pizza and beer. But do save room for their beers especially if you like beers! I'll admit, I'm still a newbie when it comes to brews but I'm slowly appreciating the microbrewery scene in Raleigh and Trophy is at the top of my list! On my most recent trip I tried their Wit-Tea-Est beer and it's a new favorite of mine. I'm also a fan of their Saisons but they seem to rotate out beers every season (keeping the favorites, yay!) which is nice when you need to try something new. They also have guest beers on tap if, on the off chance, their brewing style isn't to your liking. I'd also like to note that I have never had an awful or even bad experience with service here. Seriously, the bartenders have always been so nice and try to serve everyone coming near the bar (as it gets pretty crowded, but more on that later). The servers are the same and everyone seems to be comfortable with a packed house which is nice because the last thing you'd like while waiting on food or drinks are servers and bartenders freaking out about how busy they are. Well done with service Trophy! Now, I realize this place sounds too good to be true but there is a catch... The only downside to Trophy is that it is small and their seating and service is on a first come first serve basis. So, if you come on a busy night (particularly on Saturday night or during games) expect to wait and hover around people for a seat. Whenever this happens, I usually just order the pizza for take out and drink a beer or two while waiting. Luckily, it's nice and hot outside so their patio is open and I suggest checking it out in the later evening when it isn't too hot. Other than that, I definitely recommend Trophy for their delicious pizza and unique beers. read more

Whoa, Trophy Brewing should now be called Trophy Brewing and Pizza cause the pies pretty much rock it out here! I had seen some updates on Trophy since the space was expanded with a patio along with the interior so it was time for a re-visit. Andrew W and I came in to try the Daredevil pie and it lives up to its name! Roasted tomato sauce, ghost chile salami, jalapenos, carmelized onions and sriracha, whoa.. Beautiful looking pie with a lot of spicy punch, I downed a couple of beers in a futile attempt to keep the heat down. During a return visit I tried out a very good chorizo pie with gouda cheese. All in all I like where Trophy is heading. Beer still needs more work but the pizza and food now makes it all a solid four with some more room to grow! Normally when I visit Trophy Brewing, it is always slammed but we lucked out this weekend.. Probably because we were out around dinner time on Halloween night. Beer - Boyfriend and I started off with a flight that included all of the beers - Participant, Milky Way, Slingshot, Double Death Spiral, Wit-tea-est and Big Boss Harvest Time. My favorites were the Participant, a Berliner Weisse, Double Death Spiral, a delicious DIPA, and Wit-tea-est, normally I do not like beers brewed with tea but this one was great. Food - We started off with an order of the meatballs, this included four HUGE meatballs. I thought that they were good but I probably would not order them again since they were a bit too spicy for my liking. Then we split three 9" pizzas, The New Kid, Best Dressed and Most Outgoing. My ranking for the pizzas - Best Dressed, by far the BEST pizza on the menu, The New Kid followed by Most Outgoing, it was a close race though.. Local + fresh ingredients = amazing pizza. Creative, delicious beer here. I always leave feeling refreshed and that I've enjoyed the best of Raleigh at Trophy. They have a good selection of rotating beers that the brew in small batches and give creative names. I recommend trying the all. Pizza wise, the food is great and also creative. Personally I come for the beer and the atmosphere, so the pizza is almost never something I pay much attention to. Trophy is also a generous sponsor of a YMCA run club on Wednesday nights, which is the best and friendliest run club in the Raleigh area, and I highly recommend giving that a try. Then hanging out with a beer and pizza after. Parking is a bit of a concern. I did get towed once from parking in the wrong lot, so be careful! read more

Dropped by Trophy for a beer and a pizza while in town on business. First of all, this place gets busy at night, and the seating is quite limited. Plan ahead. They had 5 beers on tap, all made in house. Interestingly for a brewery, they also serve wine and liquor. I tried couple of their beers and settled on their double IPA. It was good, with what seemed like some rye in there as well. Their india brown ale was just okay - good taste but an off smell to me. Might have just been the glass, but it was enough to make me not order it. The pizza was quite good. Good crust, plentiful and interesting toppings, well cooked. Not the cheapest in the world, but not crazy either. The bartenders were nice, happy to talk about the beers, attentive and friendly. There is a lot of flannel and beards among them and the servers. Not sure what to make of that. But they made for an enjoyable time. read more

This brewery's draft beers are very low in alcohol percentage, BUT they're IPA with guava was phenomenal! I could drink it forever I think. It was really windy when we sat outside but their heat lamps really helped. The Daredevil pizza is $22 dollars for a large and it's huge. We are a lot because we were hungry but it was delicious. It's not too spicy so I would recommend it to anyone. The ghost pepper salami is very mild and adds a nice kick to the pizza. Great place! read more

I am SO SAD to give this spot 3 stars!! They recently expanded so they now have a ton more room to seat people, which is important if y'all remember what it used to be like! We were in the area and decided to stop by to see what it looked like after the reno-- it was gorgeous! And I was excited to see that they're going to start focusing sour and wild ales. It was a bit chilly, but we were able to sit outside under the heaters since there was a wait for inside (totally understandable-- beautiful Sunday around dinner time). The heater kept us pretty warm, but definitely would not recommend if it was cooler than 50ish degrees. We ordered our drinks and ordered a small "Most Outgoing" pizza to share. The closest thing I could get to a sour was the "when the smoke clears". It was really good with a tart, yet smokey flavor. My husband had the "no wrong way" and loved it! Unfortunately, the pizza wasn't great. The flavor was just... off. I really don't know how to describe it, but it wasn't good. Even worse than the pizza was the service. Our waitress barely had contact with us, didn't write our order down and thus forgot what it was, and forgot about us for a good 20 minutes. We ended up going inside and asking the hostess if she could have our waitress bring the check because we were done waiting. Unsurprisingly, someone else brought our check and (barely) apologized for the wait. Considering you can get the beer at other locations, the pizza and service do not warrant another visit at this location. read more

Great food, great beer, great atmosphere! My family and I visited Trophy Brewing Company on the recommendation of a friend while visiting from out of town. They definitely did not disappoint. They have a very unique pizza selection which will definitely satisfy your pizza cravings. Nice beer selection. The menu is not huge and overwhelming. Just enough to choose from whether you are in the mood for pizza, salad, small plates or dessert. The only reason for 4 stars is for their lack of communicating to new guests the "seat yourself" versus "please wait to be seated" rule. Once entering either one of the entrances, there is not a host/hostess. You walk into either the back of someone at the bar or a table at the 2nd entrance. I didn't notice the "seat yourself" sign until I was half way through my meal and noticed it in the middle of the restaurant facing the kitchen. It is not clearly visible at either entrance. It would make more sense to have it near the doors or at least have an employee relate that to the group of people looking lost blocking the way of the kitchen pass through. read more

Wow I had three whiskeys which were 2/3 of an ounce shots (12$) and eating their The Daredevil pizza ( absolutely no meat at all or ghosts peppers the ONLY heat were the jalapeños and schricha ) I'd say (having owned a bar in San Francisco and partners in a Pizza joint) they'd be out it business in 24 hours in California... The drinks were rip off the pizza was sub sub standard (yes I stated it twice ) and the service lacking... Well that's that's me and my GF's option who doesn't really drink. Checked this place out on a quick trip to Raleigh after reading other reviews. When you first walk in it's a tight spot between the front door, the hallway to the bathrooms and the bar, but we were able to snag one end of a table. We looked at the menu and were given waters (which I love not having to ask for when you're drinking!). I tried a sample of one of their saisons but ended up going with the Greenbelt, a different saison. It was really good, perfectly refreshing after walking a mile to the brewery in 95 degree weather (woops). My friend got the Brettfavrehouse, the farmhouse ale and that was also tasty, and perfect for him since he prefers ciders. I do wish they'd listed their flight options on the menu. I didn't see where you could order a flight, and no one inside had one so I did not ask. Right before we left, we saw a server bringing a flight outside but I wish I'd known so I could've tried some more of their beer. We split a small margherita pizza and it was the perfect size - although if you're hungry you'll probably want to get one for yourself as they are tiny- we were hot and had filled up on beer so not starving! I hate, hate, hate tomatoes- except the ones on the pizza were SO good I didn't pick them off like I normally do haha! Now. My favorite thing about here was their coffee porter. I am OBSESSED. It was hands down the best coffee porter I've ever had and if I'd have thought ahead, I would've brought a cooler so I could bring a growler back without it going nasty in the July heat. read more

It comes out so fast and the signature combinations are all unique and delicious. The beer is fantastic of course and don't forget about their cocktails. The margarita I ordered was lovely. We drove from Fort Bragg to visit this brewery and it did not disappoint. I had the Friendly Wager-pecan smoked lager, 4.7%. It is by far the best lager that I have had in awhile. If I lived in Raleigh, I would be here weekly. Trophy Brewing Company offers the perfect combination of pizza and beer! We were in Raleigh on a Sunday and found that most of the other local breweries are closed. But not Trophy. When we arrived, the place was packed! It is a first come first serve situation for all of their seating. There were many of us hovering just outside the door, sipping our beers while preparing to run in the minute we saw a party of our size walk out. After quite some time, my fiancée and I decided to walk through the bar just to see if there was anything open. Much to our surprise, a couple was leaving their table just as we were walking by. We snagged that table as quickly as we could manage without knocking that poor couple over! Once we caught our breaths, and the server cleared the table, we set to examining the pizza menu. We decided on the Local Celebrity which is Poblano Cream, Queso Fresco, Roasted NC Sweet Corn, Pulled Pork and the Most Outgoing made with Local mushrooms, caramelized onions, fresh arugula, brie, mozzarella blend, tomato sauce. We also ordered another round of brews which came around promptly. The pizza was at our table in less than 20 minutes. Most Outgoing: Good flavor, but nothing that would keep me coming here over all of the other pizza places in the area. Local Celebrity: This is one of the most delicious pizzas I have ever had! The Pablano Cream adds the perfect amount of heat without taking away from the flavor of the Pulled Pork. My favorite part of the pizza was the NC Sweet Corn. I have clearly been underutilizing corn by only ever eating it off the cob or out of a bowl. Perhaps I shall throw it on a burger as my next trick... The beer: The Night Game Porter was nice and dark with a mild malt flavor. The Keg Toss Guava Saison wins first place! It is a collaboration with Highland Brewing Company, and the two breweries shine with the subtle flavor of Guava and hops. I was extremely disappointed to find out that we could not take any to go! If you on a quest to find the best brewery in NC, make sure to stop here. But be prepared to find a room and call an Uber. Their beer will keep you coming back for more! read more

Second time here in the past week. Thought I should leave a review given both of those experiences... The highs: LOVE the Best Dressed pizza. Love the outdoor seating options. Really great variety of beers and not too bad selection of wine (for a brewery). The lows: Service leaves a lot to be desired. While we have been taken care of pretty quickly, the staff is not particularly friendly. All in all, the pizza and beer (for my partner) is good enough that I can see us spending more evenings here this summer. Excellent pizza! They offer a personal portion size or a regular size, which is nice. We loved the menu choices and wanted to try a bunch so we ordered 3 different personal size pizzas. For two people it was more than enough and we ended up taking home a whole pie. The indoor kid was the table favorite, followed by most outgoing and margarita. I probably would try new pizzas next time because the margarita wasn't the best I've had but would still order the indoor kid! This was a stop in our Brewery Tour de Raleigh. By this time I needed some food with a little more alcohol. Great venue, not a huge place but big enough for for a good crowd. They also had live music going on which was a good touch. We sat outside because it was a nice day. I was a little disappointed with the pizza as some of the toppings didn't seem to be cooked well enough (peppers). Overall the food was decent. This review is only for their pizza. I've been here a few times and have dined in as well as gotten take out. We've tried the Most Loyal as well as the Best Dressed. The Most Loyal is an interesting mix of chicken, pesto, and honey (it works, trust me!). And the Best Dressed is a Meat Lovers' Paradise. The large size is definitely the better deal and is enough to feed two very hungry people. The reason for the 3 stars is inconsistency. Sometimes the pizzas have toppings piled on and are hot and fresh. Other times, half of the pizza is crust and the toppings are slim. This place has the potential to be very good. The prices are right and the flavors are good. If they focus a bit more on providing consistently good pizzas, then this would be a 5-star establishment for sure! read more
