    Brigadoon Vacation Rentals

We had one good and one horrible experience with Brigadoon. Several years ago we rented through…read morethem and The B&B was as described and we enjoyed our stay there for over two weeks. Just recently we rented the same facility, but they canceled it as they claimed they no longer had that under their auspices. They offered us some replacements and we chose one that ended up requiring us parentheses two people in their 70s and parentheses to walk up a flight of stairs inside a dank and smelly garage that were very steep and one of us could not handle them. In addition, the unit turned out to be much more drab and dingy than the pictures made it appear and there was no air-conditioning. We did not realize that we were supposed to click through the "amenities" and look for that fact, as it was not mentioned in the initial description. We could not stay in this unit and immediately telephoned them parentheses it took seven or a telephone calls to both the emergency number - where the mailbox was full, and the main number before somebody answered. I informed him that we would not be staying and they could do as they chose with our reservation but asked if he thought we could get at least a partial refund. He said he believed that would be possible. In short, we threw away over $1700, including the original insurance parentheses which they manage and parentheses for the stay there. We obtained alternative living quarters for our stay in Sequim. I offered Brigadoon 1/4 of the fees, again, reminding them I was releasing back to them the rental for the entire time, but they would not work with us. I will never work with this company again and I caution others in this regard.

We visit Sequim yearly to see family and love the area, but this home had severe safety, accuracy,…read moreand maintenance issues. Pros: Great location (5/5) & responsive management (4/5). Cons (1/5 Overall, Accuracy & Value; 2/5 Check-in & Cleanliness): * Listing Errors: Advertised 3 bedrooms but had 4. No "garden" view. Just weeds. Welcome binder stated we may have to fold dryer laundry & unload dishwasher at check-in. Unannounced early morning septic truck pumping. * Safety Hazards: Yellowjackets at front door flew in my son's face. Flexing, unsafe stair tread. Unmounted smoke alarm on microwave. Fire ext. out of reach. Audible electrical buzzing light switch. Hazardous side entry down steep, narrow stairs. * Habitability: Central AC failed (cooled 2° in 3 hrs). Upstairs kids' window jammed shut (no egress). Downstairs shower sprayed across shower due to suction cup mount. Musty basement w/ live/dead bugs. Broken dishwasher rack track. Main floor window wouldn't lock.

My daughter, who lives in Olympia, Washington, encouraged us to visit the San Juan Islands (and take her with us, of course) this year. I looked at several possibilities and settled on the San Juan Waterhouse because of its location to the ocean, its view of Canada, the fact it had Internet (I thought I might need to work) and its online reviews. We were lucky that our son was also able to join us, so we felt we needed three bedrooms. The San Juan Waterhouse sits on the edge of the Haro Straight. Its water facing wall is nothing but windows, so nearly every location in the house (including the master bathroom) provides an easy view of the water. The house has three bedrooms. The master bedroom is situated so you can see Canada from the comfortable king size bed. The second bedroom is in a room with three walls of windows. This bed is a Queen. The third bedroom has two twin beds and has high windows overlooking the sod roof of the house. The main room of the house has comfortable furniture surrounding a beautiful stonework fireplace (gas) and padded window seats with many pillows for reading and gazing at the water. The kitchen. Oh my goodness, the kitchen! It has everything you could possibly need for cooking (including basic spices) and an amazing Viking stove. I'd never used one of these before and now covet one for my own house. Because my family was not going to be together for Thanksgiving, we had a Thanksgiving celebration two weeks early and cooking the meal was a breeze (and fun) in that kitchen. The kitchen also holds the house's main heat source -- a gas powered iron stove. It really heats up the place -- even the master bedroom which is down a long windowed hallway. The house has two bathrooms. One, as previously mentioned, has views of the water through the windowed French doors. (they have curtains, so don't worry about privacy). This bathroom has a claw-foot bathtub and a separate shower. The second, smaller, bathroom holds a second claw-foot bathtub (no shower). While the house itself is amazing, the best part is the location. The architect took great pains to fit it in with the surroundings and Frank Lloyd Wright slopped ceilings guide your eyes to the beautiful landscape out the windows. The house is situated on a small cove. My son and daughter ventured out during a late-night very low tide and found some interesting sea life in the tide pools. We had one beautiful sunny day and one day with strong winds and violent waves. We saw many gulls, three eagles and two small deer. I am already plotting our return to this beautiful house -- hopefully in the summer next time.
