The harbor is right out your front door and provides spectacular views of the Puget Sound. You will be within 5-10 minute walking distance of all downtown Port Townsend restaurants and shops. We stayed one night in this cabin and left because it was so cold, dirty and the owner was very unpleasant. Only after paying a non-refundable fee did she insist on meeting our dog before allowing it in the cabin. You're better off sleeping in your car than staying here. read more

Can't say enough good things about this lovely little cottage. We just got back from spending 4 nights over the New Year's holiday with my wife and mother in-law. Such a lovely little holiday in such a lovely cottage in a lovely little town. The location is amazing, right next to the small harbor and just five minutes' walk into the town with lots of restaurants, bars and small shops. The only time we used the car once we arrived was a quick visit to the QFC at the other end of the town. Our stay found ourselves with freezing weather outside, however the cottage was warm inside. The main room has both a gas fire along with a traditional open fire for firewood. We lit the fireplace both first thing in the morning and also at night and it heated the place great. There is also heaters in the smaller bedroom and another portable one for bathroom and larger bedroom. Lots of thick blankets and covers for the beds. Basically, in the freezing weather we were totally warms all the time we were inside. We mixed eating out in local restaurants and cooking at 'home' in the cottage. The cottage is well equipped with pans, plates, cutlery, glasses etc. It also has a decent amount of spices to use. That said, with any home rental, if you plan on cooking specific meals and need something special bring it with you. We brought my favorite cast iron skillet and spices for some yummy steaks ;) The cottage has free WIFI and we had Pandora streaming to our portable Bluetooth speakers for most of the time while at home. We didn't try streaming any movies so not sure how fast the connection is. The owner was super responsive over text and was lovely to chat to. We will be back for sure, hopefully this coming summer. We didn't want to leave! Already our mom's week end is coming to a close. The three of us left our chaotic households in the hands of our capable husbands for three days of child free bliss. The cottage was perfect! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will be back, it is so peaceful to watch the boats come and go. The owner, Jana's love and care for this cottage shows. It's really comfortable and we really liked how close we were to everything. We shopped, ate, read, and walked-above all we slept without any interruptions! WORST PLACE I HAVE EVER STAYED! Booked over the phone based on pictures on line. Pictures lie! Dirty...the kitchen pans had coatings of Teflon chipping off... grease on the walls around the stove... Dust everywhere... Had clean the shower before we could use it because there was still hair on the walls. Would not have stayed if there was other places in town that weekend. Tried to just get our money back and go to another town but the owner would not work with us. DO NOT RENT FROM HERE. IF I COULD IT WOULD BE ZERO STARS. read more

I stayed here awhile back on short notice and left in the morning thoroughly rested. A unique situation here where the Pilots' Cottage is just outside the northeast end of the original Port Townsend business district and you are a five-minute walk to almost everything downtown. But when you return at night it is quiet and surprisingly dark and restful. No glaring street lights or traffic. About the only noise is the slight rustle of sailboat rigging in the Point Wilson pocket harbor about fifty feet away. But only when the wind blows. This is the place where pilots would stay until they had to go out into Puget Sound to guide large ships to their destinations. Up until the 1940s? Don't know for sure. Except for some modern amenities, the place rings true to what it was. Still has the original woodworking, floors, and cabinets. Mercifully, the owner never did a Home Depot attack on the little house, which would have been a sin. Clean, crisp, and airy. A little nautical stuff around, rightfully, but not cluttered with that nauseating B&B cuteness, and, god forbid, no antique wooden duck decoy with a bow around it neck sitting in a straw-filled basket! No mint on your pillow. Felt like home; clean, honest, and comfortable. I can't cook, so all I fixed was coffee in the morning. The kitchen was clean and normally equipped. Lots of sun there on the south side of the building. And a nice fireplace for visits during the cold, rainy season. Great original wood floors and a full front porch looking over the harbor and off to Whidbey Island. read more

Horrible experience. The manager tried to get us to cancel 3 days before our stay when we had booked 2 months in advance, by telling us that suddenly, one of the nights that we had booked were now unavailable. Even worse, she pretended that we had had conversations that never occurred. She finally had the gall to outright cancel on us and we spent my mother's 70th birthday in the only shoddy motels that were still available on such short notice. So disappointed. I wish we had read other reviews on Air BnB, she's canceled on other folks with short notice read more

Tiptoe past the seashells to a quiet time from long ago. You have arrived at Pilot's Cottage! Amazing experience...fully stocked kitchen, top to bottom; fireplace set and ready to light; cozy bedrooms perfectly made up in antique linens. Delightfully situated on the harbor with an Innkeeper who knows how to please. Spotless wood floors and the bath was big enough for our whole family to share, tons of towels, too! The porch was a special cove to play games & dine outside. I've never slept so well, we did NOT want to leave, ever! So we stayed an extra night and will be back very soon. Friendly town, great choices for dining out...altho the cottage kitchen has every sort of cooking tool, we made a world class dinner at 'Home' our 2nd night. Pilot's Cottage is a piece of Port Townsend history, a REAL pilot house long ago. Close your eyes and see the tall ships sailing in. Most relaxing adventure ever. THE BEST!! read more
