I often travel between D.C. and NY using this bus, specifically from bethesda. It's clean, the drivers are always reealllly friendly and drive safely but not once had I ever gotten to NY in anywhere near the est. arrival time. I wish Tripper could be at least A LITTLE more accurate with this considering I'm always at least an hour behind time -_- read more

Took the bus roundtrip from Bethesda to NYC a few days ago, and it was a very positive experience. The bus was prompt, clean, with working wifi. The driver was very professional on both trips, completing the trip in 4 hours. We were a few minutes late for one of our trips, and they waited for us. Plus, Tripper notified all passengers by email when the pick up site had to be changed due to NYC security. All of this for $27 per trip! read more

I've always been a snob about buses. Then I waited too long to book train tickets from DC to NYC before Christmas and had to take the bus (rather than pay $500 for the train for two). Overall it was a good experience (early a.m. to NYC, late PM to Bethesda). The staff were fine, courteous. The bus was on time both ways. On the way to NYC we stopped for about 10 minutes at a rest stop. We did not stop on the return trip. I did not use the bathroom so I cannot speak to that. Wi-Fi worked. I only have two complaints. The seats were not comfy enough for me to sleep although my daughter (under 10) was knocked out. On the return trip the driver was going really fast. We were blowing by everyone, which was a bit nerve-wracking. But I would take this bus again. read more

I had a terrible experience with these guys. One of the most uncomfortable bus rides I've had. First of all I couldn't move the seat back so my neck was strained the whole ride while I tried to sleep. The outlets and wifi do NOT work. And on top of that the bus driver was listening to the radio the whole time on speaker making it impossible to rest. read more

I've been on quite a few buses from DC to NY, including Megabus, Bolt and Vamoose. I have to say that my experience with Tripper was the best yet. I only used them one way but the bus left on schedule which is always a major plus. It might have been the day that I left (Thursday night) but the bus was completely empty. I had the very back three seats to myself. Didn't notice wifi on there but oh well. Driver was fast and knew what he was doing. Will definitely use again. read more

A very friendly and helpful driver helped lead everyone's baggage in Arlington (it was freezing cold and windy). In Bethesda, the man who checked everyone's tickets handed out lindt chocolates in honor of the Thanksgiving holiday. In Maryland, Jerome took over as the driver, and made the trip very relaxing and memorable. He let us know what the traffic conditions were like and did his best to avoid approaching jams. Tripper Bus was awesome! We left Bethesda promptly at 7am on a Saturday and arrived in NYC right at 11am. We then traveled back from NYC that same day, leaving at 5:30pm and arriving in Bethesda at 9pm. Both Bus Drivers were awesome and super nice! By far one of the best bussing experiences I have ever had. Used megabus and greyhound many times, and they just do not compare. I am willing to pay the amount for tripper, because the busses are always clean and they have good wifi. I highly recommend this as a current student who tends to travel between the DC area and NY often. read more

Worst bus ride of my life. Tripper Bus endangered me and all its passengers as well as others on the road yesterday by driving for 9 hours in a snowstorm with no windshield wipers. Major safety hazard, scary situation. The total trip time was over 11 hours and the wipers broke about 2.5 hours in on the way from Bethesda to NYC. This is the most egregious of many issues. Did lack of wipers slow us down so that we got caught in a major traffic nightmare, not moving for 3+ hours on approach to NYC? The 10:10am bus arrived NYC around 9:45pm. No internet, and driver did not even try to reboot it when asked. The bus was uncomfortably cold, many wore their coats the whole way. It started off badly too, driver rudely refused to allow passengers on, leaving us standing outside bus in snowstorm AFTER being checked in. I've been on many busses in third world countries but this Tripper ride was hands down the very worst. read more

Traveling from nyc to Bethesda on a 12 noon bus. We are arriving on time despite traffic which is why I am assuming the bus did not take a pit stop. My major issue with this trip was the condition of the bus. I don't think it was cleaned before we got on. About 30 minutes into the trip, the bathroom sewerage sent off strong fumes for a while. The driver pulled over on the highway, shouted that he was going to flush the bathroom and did something which made the smell stop for a bit. It then started again and then finally stopped. After all this, I really had no desire to use that bathroom but the driver did not take a rest stop. It would be pure common sense to take a pit stop but he never did. He also never said welcome in the beginning or anything throughout the trip besides yelling once that he had to flush the bathroom. Don't think I would take this bus again! read more

My experience with Tripper Bus has always been good - the wi-fi has always worked, the bus has been clean and I've managed to get a seat. The bus was delayed once leaving Bethesda, we then got stuck in traffic, which got us into NYC 45 mins late. But I feel as though this could happen with any bus service. They did switch my bus once too but emailed me the night before to tell me the bus was leaving an hour later than I had planned. That wasn't convenient for me so I switched my ticket which didn't cost me anything extra. For a bus service that gets you from A to B with wi-fi and power outlets I'd recommend Tripper. read more

2 and a half stars. We left from nyc just about on time. A lot of the reviews mention free water, but our driver was only selling it. The bathroom had no light, but there were 2 outlets at every seat. For some reason, our driver skipped the jersey turnpike and took local roads instead. We spent a lot of time stopped at red lights and driving very slowly. At one point, we were driving in the opposite direction from dc...i noticed a lot of fellow passengers pull up google maps on their phones trying to figure out where we were going. All that said, it's no chinatown bus and cost just $6 for 2 people, whereas the lowest bolt and megabus prices for the same day were $25 each. read more

We took the bus to/from Bethesda-NYC. Pros: both buses departed on time, were clean, and arrived early to the desitnation. The driver from Bethesda-NYC was friendly and a good driver. Cons: The driver from NYC-Bethesda was a really reckless driver, bordering on dangerous. We were passing everyone on the highway, cutting people off, swerving, etc. While it was nice to arrive back home in only 3.5 hours, the safety risk just wasn't worth it, IMO. For that reason alone, I'll try a different company next time. read more

Going form Bethesda to NYC- other than the bus being late leaving, no problem.. on the return, I missed the bus, (due to traffic in NYC, my uber ride to bus stop took one hour) they were so rude on the phone, couldn't help me get on the next available bus 3 hours later told me I'd have to go stand-by or wait for the bus 5 hours later, also stand by. I switched to Vamoose- and will not return to Tripper! read more

Took the 2pm bus from NYC to ROSSLYN on 7/17/16. Worst bus ride ever. A/C barely functioned on a 95 degree day. Power outlets didn't work. Driver literally stopped in the middle of the highway to fix something. Not on the shoulder, in the middle of the highway. This happened 3 times and he said nothing. Save yourself the hassle and take another bus line. read more

Last night our bus spent almost two hours on the shoulder of I-95 six inches from the white line. The reason I am writing is not because the bus broke, but rather because the driver placed his passengers in danger by lacking common sense and safety training. The driver's goal was to make it as far down the road as possible. The safety of his passengers was not a priority. When the bus began making noises and it was clear that something was wrong, the driver eventually exclaimed, "Don't be alarmed. We are going to get you as close as we can to your destination." He implied that we were going to continue to limp down the road, despite the obvious need for repair. He drove on the shoulder of the road for miles as the knocking noises intensified in volume. When there wasn't enough room, he pulled into the slow lane. We passed three exits before the bus haulted on the shoulder of the road. It is appalling that Tripper does not train its drivers better. Poor decision making, training, and communication resulted in the bus stopping in this unsafe location. Tripper has great deals, but I feel more confident in Vamoose's driving. Vamoose also picks up in Bethesda. Try it in the future! Update: Tripper called to apologize about the incident and explained that the company offers training for all its driver. The company was not aware of the specific details of this incident, including the advanced warning of the breakdown and the decision the driver made to pull to the side of the road. Communication between the driver and the company and the driver and the passengers was poor. read more

So bad. Pay the extra five dollars and take the Vamoose Bus. The bus left late because a passenger wanted to wait for his friend. The bus made TWO stops on the way to New York. The driver was busy chatting with the passengers. He even let one passenger sit on the floor in the front of the bus blocking anyone from vacating. (violation of Transportation safety). The return bus made one stop. DO not take this bus if you want to get to your destination on time. This is a further stop in New York from the Vamoose bus also taking up extra time. I will never take this bus line again, way too unprofessional. read more

Bus drivers are plain rude, behaving like children who want things just their way (noise is too loud, stop talking when we are making an IMPORTANT announcement, don't turn on the reading lights because they BLIND the driver) ...WHAT?!! I'm giving it a 2 cuz it's convenient that it leaves from Bethesda. (It would be awesome if it went to BK) .... BUT I've now had very mixed experiences a number of times with the bus. This last time would warrant it ONE STAR. The subway I was on broke down so I arrived at the stop at 7P - ON THE NOSE. In fact, I got on a 7P GoTo bus that was sitting there thinking, it was my bus. And then he told me the Tripper Bus left early. That he often leaves early. WTF!??! I went through hell and wound up having to buy a ticket on another bus for double the price -- and I called to see if they can just transfer the unused tix to a return trip and she said she doesn't have that authority. Rode tripper bus recently and it was great!! First time ever going to NYC and it was awesome. Pick-up location is was great and easy to locate. Bus was on time...Made it to NYC in 4 hrs with a 15min stop in NJ......RIde home took 3hrs 45mins.
