I come to Trio a lot. It's very convenient to where I live - and it smells great every time I walk/bike by. I figured it's time to update my review bc I really do like coming here. My fav meal here is the drunken pumpkin - but they generally only have it in October. Sometimes they have a homemade pastrami drunken noodles special - which is also a fave of mine - yum!!! I also absolutely love the Khao Soi. When I went this weekend I got the red curry salmon and it did not disappoint! I will def get this again. My boyfriend usually tries one of the daily specials or a steak. Everything he has ordered has been awesome too. We like that they have a lot of fusion meals to try on the daily specials. They also have awesome ice cream but I usually don't get that unless it is really warm out.

My friends and I were stumbling around the Fairmount park area, unfamiliar with what to get and we happened to come across Trio. The server welcomed us and accommodated our party of 5 easily. The atmosphere was quaint and overall clean, the bathrooms are inside the hotel next door and a little out of the way, but no biggie! The food was amazing! We all ordered different things and sampled one another's and honestly there was nothing I had that I didn't like. We started with the crab dumplings and chicken satay both of which tasted fresh and flavorful, the peanut sauce also complimented well with everything we dipped it in. The noodles were soft and full of spice as well and my chicken was tender throughout each bite. I was very surprised at how inexpensive everything was and that really satisfied me as well considering the amount of food we got. I can't wait to come back and bring more friends.

Seafood dumplings. Dry and doesn't taste good.

I've been here many times with company and alone. Sometimes, I have a craving for Thai food and this is the closest spot to walk to. It's not terrible food but surely it could use an upgrade. First time here, I was shock to see a white guy cooking Thai food. I tried to not judgmental but couldn't help to wonder. Some of dishes I had were a bit salty for me and they don't give enough rice. I had to ask for more. The Thai tea, I had better. The sticky rice mango dish was far from good. However, the restaurant tried to be authentic and I see it from the menu choices. One of the things I had there that I thought was really good was the stir fry string beans, which was a side dish. It would be nice to have this as a main dish but then it's leaning more towards Chinese food.

Special COVID review update alert. Trio has been a go-to for sometime, but excelled in a recent COVID delivery in all categories. Keep an eye on their specials. You SHOULD be ordering the Drunken Noodles with pastrami if you like drunken noodles and pastrami. They make their own pastrami and it goes darn well in this staple dish. Their ratatouille is also chock full of fresh veggies and seasoned, marinated with a pan-Asian twist. Delivery was quick, and they followed the contact-free instructions. Trio is a must- have on your COVID delivery list and a mainstay on your everyday list.

Trio was okay. I can't say id be back because nothing i had really stuck with me. We decided to try out the appetizers. So when the waitress came (who was very nice btw) we said we wanted the beggars pouches, vegetable samosas and the pancetta spring rolls. We waited a while and we were the only people in there. While we waited i sipped on my Thai iced tea which was very bitter. The food finally came and we were missing the pancetta rolls and she brought us seafood dumplings instead. We weren't upset we decided to try them anyway. (Even though she should have said something). The seafood dumplings were gross, slimy and mushy. the beggars pouches were delicious and I've had better vegetable samosa. After we ate everything we weren't all that satisfied. So if i happen to go to the museum again maybe ill try an entree but i really wasn't impressed. The fact that no one was there should have been a sign.

$13 Pad see ew Drunken noodled veggie and tofu. Mediocre at best..

Everyone I've encountered has been knowledgeable and offered great recommendations depending on our preferences. The ambiance is casual but vibrant in what looks like a former warehouse of some sort. Its industrial meets modern Thai with lots of plants throughout the space to give it warmth and color. Since this restaurant is in fishtown, street parking is tricky but there is a paid lot 4 blocks away. The ground chicken flower dumplings were beautiful and tasty. Walking in around 5:45pm on a Friday evening in June without a reservation, I was able to get a table for 45 minutes within five minutes. Here's my experience. 1) Food: Wow- just wow. Everything is excellent. To feed a hungry stomach, I ordered the Garlicky Cabbage, Yellow Curry Noodle Soup with Chicken, and my server gifted me with the Grilled Saht Koh as a surprise. Everything had textured flavors that are well balanced. The winner for me was the Garlicky Cabbage. Having grown up in a country where cabbage is the staple, these are among the best I've ever had. I'll note that I was warned that the Yellow Curry Noodle Soup was spicy. I love spice but can't handle it. I was unaffected by the soup's spice level. 2) Drinks: The Thai green iced tea was unique, refreshing, and delicious! I almost ordered a second. Like many places in Philly, it's BYOB so there isn't a cocktail, beer, wine menu. 3) Service: It was excellent. Taylor, my server, was passionate about the menu, personable, and interesting to talk to. She's awesome! 4) Location: In South Philly, there's a lot to experience nearby from top-rated restaurants, parks, and public art.

So you might stumble across info for the best times to secure a walk-up reservation and they'll tell you to arrive at least by 10:30am Thursday through Saturday as Mawn opens at 11am. But let me tell you how I pulled up in front of Mawn at 10:40am on a Thursday and there was already a line of about 15 people!! Mind you, these people have PEOPLEZ as quite a few were holding spots in line for others in their party who could now casually stroll up to the line since their spot was secured by their people. I'm telling you have a game plan! If I knew then what I know now I probably would have got there at least by 9:30, seriously. My party got waitlisted as soon as we were just one person away from entering the restaurant and we had to wait for another 40 minutes. Fortunately it was a nice day so we just walked around the neighborhood and came back and got in. It's a small quaint place that only seats about 28 people. You'll feel like your visiting your favorite relatives home. You'll glance around at the other guest and feel like WOW i'm one of the few who finally made it into one of the most coveted highly acclaimed restaurants in Philly! Now let me see if it lives up to the hype! haha! I started out with the pear melon salad. It was light and refreshing. I thoroughly enjoyed the citrus notes and the pear slices. I would have never thought to add the pear but that really complimented the salad well. I was told that a MUST try is the head on soft shell shrimp. At first I wasn't thrilled about the thought of eating the head but said what the heck, lets go for the full experience! If you love softshell crabs you'll love this! There was nothing off putting about it. It simply taste like delicious premium shrimp in a fish caramel sauce with a hint of thai basil and chili. It was wonderful. I could have gone for a second round but I wanted to try other items. I enjoyed the seafood fried rice..this is similar to the crab fried rice but included uni roe and caviar with saracha on the side so you can regulate your heat level. I'll say this, while I enjoyed the seafood fried rice and the bonus elements of it, I was not a fan of the texture of the rice itself. Perhaps it's just my preference. The rice was light, fluffy and slightly sticky in texture whereas I prefer more of a thai fried rice which is dry, slightly firm and non-clumpy texture. But that's not taking any cool points away from Mawn. It's just my preference that i'm mentioning in case anyone else goes in expecting a different texture. I love the team service aspect at Mawn. Our waiter emphasized that we're not bugging anybody if we need anything we can stop any staff person walking by. I love that. Beef Noodle soup is delicous here. So is the yellow curry noodle soup. The fish is really good here too. I didn't realize I could have requested for it to be deboned (probably because I was talking to much lol) But my waiter was kind enough to come over and help me debone it when they saw I was struggling lol This was the first time I ever had a green thai tea! It was really a treat. Not overly sweet. Nothing but pure deliciousness here! And a super helpful warm friendly staff.
