A little pricy for us but well worth it for a special occasion. The food and cooking is worth the price, it really was fabulous. When talking to my kids about experiences vs objects for Christmas, my 7 year old requested a fancy restaurant for steak and lobster, just the two of us, and this was the perfect pick. Every one was so kind to him and made him feel special, I think every male staff member stopped at the table with a kind word for him and, upon hearing that he wants to be a chef someday, to say they can't wait to eat at his restaurant. I got the berries and bubbles cocktail for the dry ice spectacle, but it was also really delicious. The bread basket was really great, and our steak was seasoned and cooked perfectly, but the real star was the sides and sauces. The asparagus with hollandaise was the winner for me, the hollendaise was silky and had a little kick at the end. The truffle mac and cheese was the other top pick, really amazing. Creme brulee was the perfect shared ending to the meal, it comes with a lot of berries on top, not the usual single strawberry, and the freshness was really needed with the rich creme. Overall I think I made a formative memory with my child and I'm grateful for the service, and the food was absolutely worth what we probably would have paid for two overpriced hot wheel toys. read more

The xtra dirty martini with Calabrian blue cheese stuffed olives - was prob the best dirty martini I've ever had. The food unfortunately sucked. Definitely not worth the price we paid. And it's a pricey place, but we don't mind paying for quality food and service. It was our 30th anniversary. I really wanted to enjoy my experience tonight. I came here to celebrate a friends birthday and it just so happened to fall on restaurant week so out of 3 places she picked this place. First red flag was the parking. And I'm not talking about parking in general. I know how busy downtown is. I usually never have an issue with parking. I'll either park in the garage or valet but I knew I wanted to valet my car because i thought it would be more convenient. There was a car infront of me waiting for valet with their blinkers on and I was behind the car. The valet attendant was motioning the car in front of me to go around him because he was trying to park a car. When I put my blinkers on and waited a police officer pulled up behind me and turned on his lights. I really didn't think anything of it because I'm CLEARLY waiting for valet. The valet attendant got done with the car in front of me and I rolled down my windows and he said very rudely "just drive back around and come back I don't want to get a ticket." I was kind of stunned for a second because my first thought was what does him getting a ticket have to do with me trying to valet my car? And if he's so quick to dismiss me like this what does he do to other people when they are trying to valet their cars? So I ended up spinning back around and parking in the parking garage next to the establishment. Because when I came back around he was nowhere to be found. Second red flag the food. It was just ok. Nothing to brag about, came out lukewarm and we had really long wait times. Could have been because of it being restaurant week. The carrot cake was delicious though that was the only saving grace for me, oh and our waiter he was great! I don't remember his name if I could give him alone 5 stars I would! On this episode of eating my way through Philly while celebrating my mom's 70th birthday, we found ourselves at Ocean Prime. We had a party of about 20 and sat upstairs, overlooking the rest of the restaurant. The view was great, and my guests loved the ambiance. To keep things manageable, we went with a preset menu, but since appetizers were served family-style, I got to sample a little bit of everything--at least when I wasn't busy hosting and entertaining. The service was top-notch. The staff was on point, and I appreciated the attention to detail--especially something small but big for me: they never touched the rim of the glasses when serving drinks. Judge me if you want, but that's a pet peeve I can't ignore. Most importantly, my mother enjoyed herself and left happy, which made the night. Went for the surf and turf for two deal and was pretty disappointed. I'll start by saying I never have thought to come to this restaurant before despite living here for the better part of a decade. There's just many more exciting places to check out around the city. I was pleasantly surprised by the decor inside. It looked a lot more modern than expected and there was ample seating despite a relatively small space. Our main server was odd; not very welcoming, kind of awkward. Our assistant server was very nice and made up for it. For the food: everything was either basic, under seasoned, or both. It was plated in an uninteresting way and the portions were very small. It is not obvious on the menu but the surf and turf is to share between two people. I would be disappointed if this were not part of a meal for two deal. Won't be coming back. read more

Sooo just visited Ocean Prime for Restaurant Week.... Unfortunately, this visit was not how I remembered it. I was so surprised that the bread for the table now comes with a fee! The lobster bisque was flavorless and watery. The salad wasn't very tasty and somewhat bland The famous berries & bubbler drink had a great presentation but it also fell flat! Seemed like they forgot the alcohol in the drink. Finally the snapper dish came out and it was fantastic!! I was full so I decided to take it home. The next day I warmed it up and immediately after the last bite, my face started sweating. My stomach started turning and I was bent over in pain! I went to the bathroom and vomitted all over the floor!!! Horrible! I was so sick and woozy... I dont know what happened to the quality of the food, but I will not be able to return. Sorry! So far so good! This place is bomb! First off, I am a huge fan of low lighting at a restaurant. Although it can feel intimate, it's so sexy to me. Even if you are dining with friends or with a date, the tone of the lighting sets the vibe. Even if you are here with family, the lighting should ignite something in you to sit up straight, be chill, be cute... it's just a vibe. Now, I wouldn't suggest dining here with family, but hopefully you get the picture. It's ideal for a fun group - corporate group - or alone. I dined here with my husband and a friend, so it's the three of us and we had a ball. We dined at a round booth and had a small night cap at the bar just before closing. Everything was pretty much on point. My only hiccup was the complimentary truffle popcorn at the bar. Gross! I would have loved just plain popcorn or even buttered. But trying to eat the truffle popcorn and enjoy a cocktail was not right for me. I doubled my cocktail and asked the young lady to trash the popcorn. Nevertheless, the service from the moment we walked in until shutting the bar down, was priceless! When we are in town again, I am definitely requesting we dine here. Not sure how the parking works, we visited from out of town and caught a 15 minute Uber ride from our hotel. We gathered here for a celebratory meal in observance of the Christmas Holiday. The doormen welcomed us inside and the ambiance was inviting as well. Dimly lit, twinkling lights, well appointed, two of us took a seat at the bar while we waited for our others to arrive. The bartender was nice and friendly, presenting us with a bowl of seasoned popcorn as we perused the cocktail menu. Drinks are super pricey and the popcorn super salty. We were seated at a booth opposite the end of the bar near the servers station. I personally hate that proximity but I did not make a fuss. We were well taken care of by our server, Casey, the obligatory Bubbles and Berries was poured and captured on video for posterity. It was a great time and environment to have a festive meal. Everyone enjoyed their chosen dishes which included the Crab Cake, Sushi, Sautéed Shrimp, Shrimp Cocktail and Calamari appetizers. I had the latter and loved the spicy slaw that was in top. Would definitely have that again. Entrees were the Sea Bass, the Salmon and for me the Lobster Linguine. My sister raved about the salmon. My pasta was tasty but at 60.00 felt way overpriced. It's located in the vibrant and energetic Center City. It's within walking distance of other main attractions of downtown Philly and City Hall (train). My dining preference is the bar, each visit. But last week I had the opportunity to dine in for dinner in the dining room (main floor) and the service was top tier. The server was incredible and the food was well. This was my friend's first time visiting Ocean Prime and they were impressed with the food, visit and location. My go-to is the Expresso Martini as it's made just right (for me). And the Staff's Pick of the sushi roll. The Carrot Cake (pictured) is my favorite dessert, the size (shareable) and its taste is great! My wife and I went to Ocean Prime for our anniversary. We set up reservations using Open Table. Although I had to make a few changes to the timing the restaurant was accommodating. The ambiance and atmosphere were amazing! The place was clean. The food was delicious! Everything we had we enjoyed it tremendously. The steak was cooked the way we wanted it too and at the end we were full from our meal, which means acceptable portion sizes. The staff there were very nice and polite. Our waiter was extremely friendly and professional. They did set our table up for our anniversary and they provided dessert for us on the house! Food items we had were: Speciality Sushi Roll, Shrimp Sauté, Lobster Bisque, NY Strip Steak, Lobster Tail, Side of Garlic Whipper Potatoes & Bacon Creamed Spinach. And to end off the night with some delicious Crème Brulée. The only con's I had were that they have valet parking, which isn't the bad thing but the sign showed $26 but the valet charged me $33 and didn't explain himself but I also didn't ask. Also, even though the staff and everyone was kind and polite, I felt that the service could've been slightly more faster, but it could've been a busy night so I didn't think it was such a big deal. Arrived at 4:30 for an anniversary dinner. The valet quickly took our car with professionalism and efficiency. Walking into the restaurant, we were immediately struck by the intimate ambiance, and the waitstaff made us feel special. Our server was Casey, who helped us make some decisions about our meal, which improved the overall experience. We loved her bacon cream spinach recommendation. Keep in mind if you do use the valet to go somewhere close by I believe you have to be back by a certain time so I would ask the valet person. They take cash & card. It's a little spice to it, but Alexis was so nice to not include the spice for me, but when I did taste it with the spice, it was actually good. She checked to see if liked it and even tasted it herself and felt she could do better. she kept at it until she perfected it and that was great customer service . I sat at the bar and I had a chop chop salad, a 10 oz filet and whipped potatoes with one craft beer and one 6 oz pour of Justin Isosceles red blend. This individual meal was almost $190 including tip. The food was good but not outstanding. The service was friendly but not efficient. The entree was an 8 oz filet with blue cheese crusted med rare. It was so dry and I could not taste any blue cheese. All I tasted was salt. The same with the brussels sprouts. Whenever I travel to Philadelphia for our annual hiring conference, we always make it a point to visit Ocean Prime. What can I say? I LOVE THE FOOD! It never disappoints. Unfortunately, since it was restaurant week, we had an 8:15 pm reservation but weren't seated until closer to 8:45 pm, which was frustrating because we were starving. For the most part, the service was great, but one of our friends had severe allergies to nuts and certain fruits, so she had to be very careful with her choices. When we reached the dessert menu, sadly, none of the options (restaurant week menu) were suitable for her unless she wanted to risk a trip to the hospital. I was hoping the waitress would offer to help, but instead, we had to ask. She seemed surprised by our request as if we were asking for something extravagant. Thankfully, after we inquired, she did ask the manager to substitute a chocolate cake for her. Other than that, everything else was wonderful. Later we ordered dinner to share since we had been eating appetizers for the last 3 hours. We ordered the Rib Eye medium, the Roasted Garlic Mashed Potatoes, Creamed Spinach which had bacon in it, and one of the sushi rolls. The Rib Eye was delicious, especially with the black truffle butter. The Creamed Spinach and the Roasted Garlic Mashed Potatoes were delicious. We each had 3 courses starting with 1/2 salads for the chop chop and Ocean Prime House; the salads were extremely good. For appetizers, one of us tried the daily special sushi roll (salmon, mango, tobiko with a spicy mango sauce) and the 'surf and turf'. The sushi roll was very good although the mango was not as 'soft' as it should be while the surf and turf's short rib was a little boring and the scallops pretty good. For mains one of us had the ora king salmon and the other had the daily special Chilean sea bass. The ora king salmon was very good but had a different taste than the Alaskan salmon we are used to (is that good or bad?). The Chilean sea bass special was pretty delicious; although we were surprised when we got the bill and it was so much pricier than the menu Chilean sea bass. We also had a side of brussels sprouts that were delicious. We also tried a glass of pinot noir and a glass of shiraz - both were delicious. Also tried a resposado paper plane - wow that was delicious! I know it's Ocean Prime but I opine the mark-ups on alcohol are too high (I would have loved a glass of Prisoner red blend - but at $35 for 6 ounces while a whole bottle costs $50 seems like a hefty mark up I at least wouldn't go for). Total including tip for the 2 of us with all this food was $400 - which I would be happier with if the meal was outstanding. read more

My daughter took me to Ocean Prime for Father's Day. It enabled her to celebrate me while dining at a restaurant on her list. The design of the restaurant is esthetically pleasing and it appears that they are welcoming to all. The bar section seems to be more casual and several diners had small children. Service was amazing as multiple staff help to ensure your food arrives quickly and finished items are removed promptly. Unfortunately the quality of the food was disappointing. The lobster in the lobster bisque and lobster linguine was chewy and overcooked. The blackened snapper was also overcooked and the roasted brussel sprouts were salty. All cylinders were firing at our New Year's Eve dinner last night. The restaurant was comfortably packed with customers, but the staff moved flawlessly, professionally throughout both the downstairs and upstairs diners. We observed a very well trained staff. Whatever was going on in the kitchen was top notch, because our orders were prepared perfectly. Our server was Marcus and he certainly deserves all 5 stars. If you like sushi, the Ocean Roll, with a delicious dipping sauce, was spot on. I had the Lobster Linguine and my husband had the Seafood Feature. We shared an order of the Lobster Mac & Cheese. It was all absolutely delicious. We didn't need a dessert, but it was New Year's Eve, so we chose the 10 layer Carrot Cake. Yummy!! We live in Philly and the choices of excellent restaurants are many. Ocean Prime, as a chain restaurant, is an excellent choice, if you're looking for a perfect experience. Happy New Year! read more
