Probably my favorite gunsmith to go to even though he's over an hour away from my place without traffic. TLDR just make an appointment with Chris and you won't regret it if you need some gunsmithing work. I originally wanted someone to replace the sights on my Berreta px4 storm. I first contacted my a local gun store and they quoted me at least $85 but they don't know until the gunsmith comes over and the lead time is about 2 weeks. I then asked on Yelp and Chris is one of the two who answered (his quote was the cheapest) but unfortunately he wasn't the first one and by then I already agreed to go to the other gunsmith. The other gunsmith was not bad but tbh I wasn't satisfied so when my new sight broke and I needed to reinstall my old front sight I asked Chris for help. He gave me a date and he worked out of his garage so I met him there. After he removed the broken sight and reinstalled my original front sight he didn't even want to charge me after he learned how much I drove. I was impressed which his service that I paid him for his time nevertheless. When Beretta sent me a replacement fiber optic sight I went back to Chris again and he was patient and did a great job. I learned that Chris did a lot of good work for the sheriffs around the Bay Area and I can totally see why. He is now my go to person because I know he does great work and he won't charge me unreasonable amount which really built the trust between us. be careful..asked him to fit a new barrel to my 1911. I had it done once back in the 80's at Siegle's in Oakland. thought it was time to do it again... new wilson combat match barrel $200+ ... damaged caused the new barrel was beyond repair and to the original slide, as per the new gunsmith. Had to replace them both. new slide $130 new match barrel $200 , copy original marking on new Slide $250, labor for new gunsmith $250. I'm not saying he's not good.. just don't take him a 1911 for a barrel fitting read more

My iron rear sight is miss aligned & screw is stripped and locktite. I thought for a gunsmith it would be a simple procedure to fix. Chris tried to size a wrench in with a hammer and break free with heat gun. That failed, he attempted to knock out the iron sight off with hammer, that failed and said my sight moved. I told him if he could live it up it would be fine. So he started hammering the rear sight directly with hammer beating up the iron sight and also my red dot at the same time. No difference in sight alignment. Plus side is he did not charge me for this. I pretended he fixed it and paid him $20 for his time. I understand not everything is fixable & I am far from a gunsmith of any sort. But I think a vice, some kind of chemicals to break down the locktite, removing the red dot to prevent damage, a punch and a hammer would have been a technique a smith would have used. Or drill out the stripped screw to knock out the rear sight and possibly retap for a new screw after resetting the site. I had to ceramic file my red dot to smooth the bit of marring that was rubbing my belly with appendix carry. read more

I dropped off in the busy season and told him to prioritize hunters orders but he still had it back quick for the work I needed. He let me know about some other minor issues I hadn't noticed and he was kind enough to keep a bag of shavings showing what he found. No upselling too, he recommended trying to check a warranty/manufacturer email to resolve it first as it could wait.
