Air conditioning and service was not so good. The food was edible except for the carpaccio. I believe it was spoiled. They put a ton of grated cheese on it to cover up the brown on the meat. The top of the meat had a nice color to it but unfortunately the bottom half was brown and tasted nasty.

I was so happy to find this local restaurant near my hotel. Delicious sea food, great outside seating. I went a little later & enjoyed outside evening air. Glad they had plastic up. Food & wine was delicious

We are rather amazed at how good the food taste here. This is our first meal at Barcelona. Originally I wanted to go to La Terraza Miró cause it has 4.7star reviews. But after carefully checking their dishes, I realized they don't have too many things attract me. Instead, Triki Trac looks like offering many interesting dishes. We were not disappointed. The black rice dish(squid ink paella) surpassed my expectations. It smelt so yummy and was so tasty. They provided some garlic mayonnaise to go with it. That was a hugely interesting idea. It added so much flavor. I think it'll be wonderful to eat with breads too. Grilled octopus is yummy too. We took the tapas size which is around 10euro less than the entree size. The tenderness of the octopus is outstanding. The taste is on the mild side though. I'd appreciate it to have a little bit more salty taste. Iberico ham is salty, I guess it's common. The dish is arranged beautifully. I loved the lemon meringue cake too. It came with whipped cream on the side. Each compartment had its own flavor. Excellent job. It was light. I wish I could have enjoyed it with English tea. But it's evening. Unfortunately I'm the one who can't have caffeine after 2pm. Restaurant itself is big with lots of seats. One waiter speaks perfect English. Other staff can speak basic English too. They are all very attentive. I might come again during our stay at AC Hotel Sants. It's a short walk, less than 10minutes.

Like a previous reviewer, Triki Trac was recommended by the folks at Nobu Hotel. We had just arrived from the overnight flight and were looking for someplace close. Triki Trac was only a couple of well lit blocks away. We were fairly early for Spain and were seated immediately. Menu in English was a big help. We were interested in a paella and the had one on the menu but it didn't fit my wife's food desires, she wanted chicken and they offered only seafood. We finally agreed on fish, which turned out to be squid which is not what we wanted. In spite of all that, it was pretty good. It was missing the crispy rice on the bottom which is part of the joy of paella, and would better be described as a seafood rissoto. All told, if we were back in the neighborhood but probably wouldn't order the paella.

The hotel bar was busy as heck at Nobu. The host recommended Triki Trac. Food was great. Drinks were great. I don't speak Spanish and they were extremely accommodating. Menus are bi-lingual.

Giving them 4.5. We were staying at a hotel near the Barcelo Sants train station and needed a last minute dinner spot. Glad we found this really cute place! We were seated quickly despite it being a busy night. The paella was good for two people if you order another main dish. It was very flavorful as well as the beef cheeks with mashed potatoes and truffle. I wish we ordered wine that night too since they had an extensive list.

Try the Spanish beers. They are kinda IPAs with a lager slant. Yummy.

Looking for the perfect spot to have your first tapas meal in Barcelona? Make a beeline to this place. Ask for Danny, the waiter as he is so much fun and loaded with great suggestions for food. We loved the tomato dishes and of course all the seafood including the 'puss in the photo. Outstanding jamon.

Triki Trac was my first meal out in Barcelona and it was a great experience, the waiter I think was called Jonard, was friendly and helpful and attentive, food was delicious and a reasonable price and ambiance of the restaurant was pleasant. Can't fault it at all and had a lovely meal.

La Mestressa is such a great vibe and one of the defining experiences from my trip to Barcelona!…read moreHere are a few highlights: 1. The neighborhood - I stayed at the AC Hotel Sants while visiting Barcelona. The Barcelona Sants train station was adjacent to the hotel, and the property was in a walkable neighborhood surrounded by restaurants, convenience stores, and other businesses. There was also a deceptively nondescript alley right next to the hotel that I didn't explore right away. Turns out, that alley leads to a vibrant, hidden plaza (Plaça d'Osca) with restaurants and shops, where locals in the Sants neighborhood hang out. This is also where La Mestressa is located. 2. The food and drinks - I got dinner with two friends at La Mestressa one evening. We ordered a pitcher of sangria, a bottle of wine, and a wide selection of tapas, croquettes, and a couple main dishes. My personal favorites from the meal were the sangria, patatas bravas (crispy potatoes with sauce), octopus, and the salmon salad (not pictured). Each of those dishes were well-seasoned, had great textural contrast, and provided either familiar comfort (patatas bravas and octopus) or a completely new flavor experience (salmon salad). The sangria was light and refreshing. 3. The service - Our server was bilingual and provided satisfactory service. She was warm. The service was well-paced, and she attended to all of our needs as a group. 4. The ambience - As I previously mentioned, both Plaça d'Osca and La Mestressa were a whole vibe. If the terms "off the beaten path," "honeycomb hideout," "in the cut," or "rural retreat" mean anything to you, this area similarly provides a nice place to "retreat" and immerse yourself in a local neighborhood right in the heart of Spain's second largest city. It's the perfect place to drink wine and sangria and while away your evening. :)

We ate other places, but none of them compare. Not the market, none of the other small tapas places we tried. It's as if the others aren't even trying. The chocolate mousse was light and the bread to mousse ratio was perfect. It's a smaller dessert tho I wouldn't recommend it if ur sharing. Service: amazing! While the restaurant does not look super fancy, it's got a pleasant atmosphere and a nice decor. We walked over around 6:15, which is early for dinner, even for us. The server explained that they had some tapas available, but the kitchen didn't open until 7. We said we'd be back and he booked us a table on the spot. (lucky us as they had a party of 16 locals and the remaining tables were booked except ours!) We wandered to another place for an outside glass of wine while we waited. At 7, we went back and explained Uncle D's shellfish allergy to Mark, our server and asked about recommendations for things we might try that would work for the allergy. He was so kind and advised against certain items that had shellfish or were cooked in the same oil as shellfish. Bless him! We shared the tapas of a pulled pork sandwich, (in a small bun), and a cheese plate with cubes of cheese in olive oil with black salt flakes, and finished with sharing a main course of oxtail, which we were told takes 32 hours to make! All were delicious and we were thrilled we had gone there. The second and final night in Barcelona we were tired, didn't want to have to figure out where to go that might not be too close and decided to go back. This time we booked a table about 45 minutes before we wanted to be there. Lucky there was a table for 2! When we walked in, we were recognized and greeted like family! Mark even remembered our names, shellfish allergy and the wine we had enjoyed the night before which we wanted again. We ordered the same cheese tapas as it was so delicious, along with the chorizo casserole in apple cider, with a main course of the sirloin steak with potatoes and padron peppers. The steak dish was brought out before the chorizo dish accidentally. We opted at that point to have the chorizo dish after. Steak was cooked a perfect medium rare, potatoes crispy outside and soft inside and the padron peppers tasty but mild. Again, absolutely delicious! By the time we were halfway through the steak dish, we knew we had no room in our tummies for the chorizo dish. We asked if it was possible to cancel the chorizo dish, but if they had already started cooking it then it would be ok. Mark was gracious and canceled it for us. At the end of the meal, Mark brought us a glass of a local liqueur that was wonderful. The food, the service, the atmosphere... and both nights local folks enjoying along with tourists, all fabulous. All that to say... if you have the chance to go to this wonderful restaurant, do it!

The young lady waitperson was so friendly and we laughed as we tried to communicate with each other (she with no English and me with no Spanish). After we were stuffed to the gills, she brought us a complimentary plate of 4 pieces of olive oil cake and two glasses of a very tart brightly colored yellow liqueur that my friend said had a definite kick. When I told our waitperson that I don't drink alcohol, she brought me a glass of the same fruity base liquid sans the alcohol, which I found to be very tart and very pleasing on the palate! When I finished it, the young lady offered me more, but there was no way for me to fit anything else into my completely full satisfied belly!
