For my first visit to Trident Grill II, I can say there was a mix of the good and the not-so-good -- at least from my perspective. I ate lunch at the outdoor patio during my visit with a colleague. I wanted to eat here because of the seafood offerings on the menu and, in particular, I had a desire to try the shrimp po' boy. So, I ordered the po' boy for my lunch while also ordering the crab cake appetizer to go. Unfortunately, I was not very happy with my sandwich as the bread was chewy and tough, the remoulade was rather sweet and made the bottom of the hoagie roll quite soggy, and the fried shrimp were not flavorful or tasty. This sandwich just failed on every level. However, the crab cakes somewhat made up for this. Even though I took them home and heated them up, I found these crab cakes to be among the better versions that I've sampled. These crab cakes did feature lump crab, had a very good crab flavor, were not overly large (but this is an appetizer on the menu), and did not have excessive filler. I paired these crab cakes with some of my own chipotle aioli and they matched together very well. So, kudos on the crab cakes! Also, the service was very good, friendly, and attentive, so good job there also. I'd have to try other items on the menu to get a better understanding of the quality of the overall menu, but I do hope they tweak the recipe of the shrimp po' boy, as that should be much better. read more

Trident grill is my favorite bar and restaurant in Tucson. They are veteran-patriot owned and have gotten back to normal. Please don't listen to the Karen liberals that want to trash this restaurant chain. Christmas party! I ordered wings,and to my surprise I received raw wings (bloody wings) absolutely disgusting! The wings were removed from the check,but the stomach ache was lingering for days. Love this place. It's a little further from campus, so it feels more like a restaurant than a pub with good food. The menu is great. You get good portions and quality ingredients for less than you'd pay in most other restaurants. The seafood is high-quality, not defrosted-and-fried garbage. I've been dying to try the crab cakes, but I can't stop ordering the calamari app. The service is good, too. The staff is helpful and knowledgeable. It's refreshing to eat out in this town and not be served by a girl who thinks she's entitled to 20% because she's mildly attractive and wore a tight shirt. Worst service i've been experienced. You can tell that they hire the waitresses based on looks, not personality. They all acted like they didn't want to be there and were all sitting at a table playing on their phones. Treated my friend and I like we were a nuisance, to the point where we felt uncomfortable asking for things. If I could give 0 stars I would I use to love this place good drinks and amazing burgers. Well that changed today my friend and I order our Burger's 45 minutes go by no food but the guy next to us gets his steak and other people get their food. I finally get mine and it's cold the bun is extremely soggy like it's been sitting and yes the burger was cold disgusting not even cooked properly. To top it off they got the wrong order for my friends meal prime rib when he ordered a burger. This is where this place gets a zero star review the attitude of the staff was pathetic they were rude and did not even attempt to fix issue. The on duty manager did not even apologize or offer any corrections If this is how this location does business now good luck won't be around much longer. hopefully the owner reads this. read more

This is the second time we've been here. The food is solid and tasty. And the Old Bay fries are crazy good. I had the Chesapeake Bay burger (muenster, LTO, Old Bay seasoned onions) tonight - the onions were amazing! DH had the Steakhouse burger, and he was very pleased with his choice. (The first time we came here, I had it - bleu cheese is one of my weaknesses.) I was kinda hungry, so decided to start with an appetizer. We were about half an hour late to take advantage of the happy hour specials unfortunately - next time we'll come earlier. Fried pickles are a particular weakness of mine, although DH does not feel the same. However, while he was indisposed I ordered the fried pickles. SWEET MERCIFUL CRAP. You know how when you get fried pickles at most places, they're little chips with the breading flaking off? Not here. A waiter came out with a plate piled high with giant lightly battered pickle spears. You know in the cartoons where the guy's eyes start to pop out of his head and turn into huge giant hearts? That's how I felt when I saw that plentiful plateful piled high with perfectly palatable pickles. YUM. They were hotter than Tucson in August, but man alive, they were fantastic. The tempura type batter was a game changer. It was perfect and not too heavily flavored, so you could enjoy delicious pickle-y goodness without a bunch of other pesky flavors jamming up the works. So yes - terrific burgers, fried pickles so good I will probably dream about them tonight. The service was fantastic, the waitress kept our water glasses full and was extremely friendly and personable, plus answered a couple of questions DH had - what's the deal with the trident? Did the owner go to U of A? (Navy Seal, the trident's in their logo and yes, he did, plus he's also he's a Redskins fan.) Come for the burgers. Stay for the pickles. read more

It's tough dealing with social distancing in a sports bar but kudo's to Trident II. Tables and bar stools have been stripped to a minimum. Staff is wearing the necessary PPE and disinfecting between customers. Food maintains its pre-pandemic quality and staff retains its customer service standards. It's a sports bar, but in addition to normal bar food they even have ice cream sundaes! I had the 'Redskins' appetizer with my beer - can't go wrong with potatoes & bacon ...and an Ice cream sundae. I have been here many times and it is hard to find something on the menu that isn't delicious. My personal favorite is the bacon mac and cheese, the steak medallions are a close second. The patio is perfect to sit and enjoy a beer or watch a game. Game nights can be loud and packed so arrive early, the service is great though. They also have a delicious Sunday brunch during football season. Maybe not the best place for quiet intimate conversation. read more

A sports bar with a good variety of seafood. My favorite is definitely the buffalo chicken salad, but be warned, even the h1 (basic sauce) can be hot sometimes so if you don't like heat stay away. Only negative is the location is small and during big sporting events you probably won't get a table unless you get there early. There were 6 in our lunch party. We all ordered different things from the menu. We also shared fried pickles as an appetizer. Well besides the service, every single dish was really good. I had the fish tacos served with an in house made tortilla. Others had burgers, steak salad, and the fish and chips. Went to the one on Swan for lunch just recently. Portions are big, food is good, service is friendly, prices are competitive.

I have previously written a review of the original Trident saying that it is the best sports bar in Tucson, and the new location is now the best sports bar in Tucson! Best food, best service, the new location is great because there's more parking and a nice patio, but best of all, they know how to be a sports bar! They have the right games on the right TVs, will change to a different game if asked but always check first to make sure others aren't watching something on that TV. We've been to so many other places that claim to be sports bars and walked in 10 minutes before a UA game to find that all the TVs are tuned to UFC and the staff seems clueless as to there even being a UA game that day. Not Trident II, they always know what's up in sports for the day and have a nice mix of the important games spread across all of their many TVs so you can see them from any seat. Well having gone to Trident II once again it's never my first choice. The owner is a sexist and only hires women for front of the house, might as well go to Hooters, because the food is adequate at best. My girlfriend loves the chicken sliders and Mac & Cheese. While I had the wildcat burger that boasts the "Chef from hell bbq sauce" the sauce was there because it dripped on my hands. Halfway through the burger I gave on the flavor showing up,bacon over cooked, and I barley noticed the onion rings. Best thing about the meal was the fries and pickle. Waitstaff just horrible. 10 plus people of different parties waiting to be seated while 2 girls were in the back. Male employee came from back room and had to get them out. Girls came out and were unpleasant, as if we interrupted their "me" time. Server then said, go sit where you want, I'll bring you menus. So we did just that and sat for a length of time. She finally came over, handed us the menus and took our drink order. After delivering our drinks, she took our lunch order and that was the last time she interacted with us. Our food took over 30 minutes and delivered by another server and our drinks got refilled only after flagging down the bus boy. She attended to tables around us, but never checked in to see how our food was, etc. I guess we didn't fit the profile of an ogling middle age man. Her shorts were so tight and riding up her a$$, it was actually a theatrical production watching the male clad tables eyeing her. We just wanted lunch in a timely manner and allotted ourselves 1.5 hours, due to a movie we needed to catch (we were late.) This restaurant's saving grace was the food. Going through the checklist for a good sports bar: Decent Happy Hour - Check Good Beer Selection - Check Plenty of TV's to watch your favorite sport - Check Fried Bar Food - Check Burgers - Check Brunch - Ch... wait, huh? Yes, that's right, Trident serves brunch... and they do it right. Your Bloody Mary shows up to the table looking like a buffet, garnished with lime, celery, shrimp, Old Bay, olive and a nice crisp slice of bacon. They serve traditional Eggs Benedict as well as their twist, with a crab cake and asparagus providing a landing spot for nice, runny, poached eggs. The Trident potatoes, crispy, seasoned, and sprinkled with parmesan didn't even need the ketchup provided. Plenty of other stuff on the menu, some simple and some kicked up; traditional breakfasts, french toast, 4-egg omelets, biscuits and gravy, etc... We're already planning our next brunch outing there. I seriously hope brunch at Trident is here to stay and not just another reason to start drinking and watching football at 10 a.m. read more

It was a co- workers bday this weekend so we decided to go here for some drinks and food. The place was packed due to the world series being on, so if there is any type of even going on be prepared to wait a min or two. The cocktails they have are pretty good, I tried the moon over my shady which I did like. I did not get any food this time, but a few people at my table did and it came out really quick even though it was very busy. The bill did not come out to be very much even though, we ordered a substantial amount. If your looking for a great place to have a few drinks, get some good food, and watch some sports, this is a great place to start. Decent place! We're regulars at the original Trident Grill for the Geeks Who Drink Trivia on Wednesday nights. We were recently on this side of town and decided to give it a go. Service was friendly and for the most part, quick. They made my husbands Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich wrong (with mushrooms) so the food took a little longer than normal. I always get their Shrimp Taco entrée that comes with their green chili mac and cheese. They have fairly good mac and cheese. Sometimes their cheese can get a little too thin, losing some flavor, but for the most part pretty good. I order a side of their H3 hot sauce for my tacos because the salsa it comes with is mediocre at best. With that subtle change, I think they're really delicious. The atmosphere was a little like the other Trident but also like they tried to be a little more swanky. Their beer and alcohol selection is good. read more

I wrote a review recently, not a positive one because of slow service and cold food, and I need to add another today. The restaurant was not crowded at all (at 11:50), which worried me a bit as it has always been full in the past, and the service was not only slow but inattentive. The waitress (long dark curly hair) acted as if she had never waited tables. Service is important to customers and either add to or negate one's experience, the latter being the case today. After my last review, which followed a horrible dining experience and assured me that my companions would never darken your door again, I said I would continue to dine at Trident II. Trident: A Tucson watering hole where food, fun and spirits flow....YEP Trident opened recently near my place of employment so a couple friends and I thought we'd try them for happy hour last night. My first thought as I rounded the corner from the back parking lot? Holy s*$t, it's LOUD. And that was just approaching the front patio/entrance to Trident. Imagine trying to sit inside and have a conversation. Luckily, that's my biggest issue with Trident - the noise level. I'm all for a fun, busy environment but I like to hear what my girls are saying without having to do the whole "What did you say?" "Sorry, say that again." and then the final smile and nod pretending that you actually heard what they said. I know I'm harping on about this but the place could seriously use a little bit of sound-proofing. On to the important things.... Service: 4 stars. Our server was a nice, cute young girl who had average knowledge of the well options available. She took our orders promptly and our drink/food orders were correctly delivered in a fair amount of time. Drinks: 3 stars. While the pricing on the happy hour is extremely fair, I was disappointed that there were no specialty cocktails offered at all. Hint: girls like specialty drinks. Give me a drink menu with some interesting concoctions and you can bet I'm going to purchase a couple of them. But when I have to go with a regular bar drink, I'm less likely to have more than one. We didn't really read the description so when a huge plate of deep fried pickle SPEARS appeared, we were really impressed. They were crunchy, hot and delicious! And ABUNDANT. The 3Tomato Bruschetta is a beautiful dish piled high with ingredients and drizzled beautifully with a deep, dark balsamic reduction. Delicious. Mozzarella Sticks were ok, nothing spectacular served with an average marinara. Redskins (potato skins) were nice and cheesy and of good size. Perhaps it was because we asked for the bacon bits to be served on the side (one person in our party doesn't eat pork/beef) but they seemed to be lacking a little flavor even once the sour cream and bacon was added. The Buttermilk Tenders were a welcome alternative to your average chicken tender. These babies are lightly breaded, perfectly fried, super tender and juicy. We definitely had too much food on our table but everything was so reasonably priced that we just couldn't resist. I'm so happy to have Trident in my work neighborhood and really hope they last in this location. Just be prepared to keep asking "What?" during happy hour conversations or give up and in to the smile and nod. read more

I was completely surprised... We walked in, and within one minute were greeted by a hostess, a manager, and our server. Everything looked clean, and all the staff were smiling. Before our chairs even warmed, we had a drink order in. Speaking of drink orders, they have their draft beers ON A LIST! I don't know why this is so hard for other places to do, but if you have more than 4 drafts, don't make me listen to your servers try to rattle them off from memory, give me a list! Okay, back to Trident. They have a great happy hour, and it's simple. Some places you need a cryptex and a slide rule to figure out what deal and when. We got our beers on the HH, and ordered a few items of the HH menu. We had chicken sliders and fish tacos. Those are relatively simple dishes, and it's hard to make them "wow". However, both were exceptionally good, even better when you consider the price! Our server was so completely on top of it. Drinks never went dry, but I didn't feel like she was so present as to be bothersome. Not to mention the place was packed! You wouldn't know it from how fast and attentive our server was. We ended up deciding to eat a bit more and got the "Irish Eggrolls" just because that sounds like such a wacky idea. Let me tell you, they'll knock your socks off. They're absolutely delicious, and they come with this super-spicy mustard sauce that's out of this world. I will end with saying I want these guys to succeed, so to them: Raise your prices! You have the service and food to justify it, and that zip code can afford it. You're not on Speedway anymore, and I know rent at that plaza isn't cheap. Best of luck! read more
