Honestly, idk what the staff is mad about, but it seems like everything. Food and beverages are good. Had pot pie and shepherds pie. Hands down, pot pie over the shepherds pie. I wish this place weren't so depressing. It just seems like a buzz kill. Can't put my finger on it, but it probably is the staffs energy. Probably won't be back, unless I'm depressed.

Laid back bar with good vibes! My partner's grandpa frequented this pub before covid and was bummed they stayed close through 2020. When they finally reopened recently, I had a chance to visit to beloved trials pub. The place had great decors, bar seats as well as tables. You order at the bar and seat yourself. So far I've tried the chicken mushroom pot pie and the fish n chips. Chicken mushroom pot pie was delish. It was seasoned well and the pastry was not raw. I was really excited to try the fish n chips as recommended but found it to lack seasoning. Perhaps they forgot to put salt on after it was done frying :s I also got the mashed peas. That was also okay, lacking salt. They have great drinks tho! Beers on tap are good as well as mixed drinks. Food 3.5/5 Drinks 5/5 Experience 4/5

Their amazing selection of Ales and stouts super yum! Pictured: Pendragon and Belhaven

Nice pub as pubs go! Been coming here for years but lately it's changed, the food for starters: the fish and chips was the thing to order the fish pieces were huge not 1 piece really? Bangers and mash... something changed, the sauce? Also some of the favs on tap are on the menu but not available, the service is still awesome glad to see the same gentleman tending the bar, he knows his stuff and good thing too cuz as I said some Beers no longer available so he recommended a good second choice.

Ask the Community - Trials Pub

Are the Maryland crabcakes real or imitation crab?

Trials doesn't sell crabcakes.

What time do you open on St. Paddy's day?

Trials opens at 5pm.

Are kids allowed inside?

Kids are allowed inside though I don't think they can sit at the bar. There is seating at the back.

Is the pub, and the restrooms wheelchair accessible? I? Is there a step into the doorway? Does the ladies' room have an extra wide stall?

It's a single level pub, entry should be ok, same as for the restroom but it's a tight walk way leading to it but I'm people sure people will move make sure make it through, hope this helps!

Their well liquor is the cheapest thing their distributors carry which makes the flavor not worth the price. I originally asked for a Rum Runner, but they didn't know how to make it. I asked for a Run Punch, they also didn't know how to make it, so I was went simple with Rum and Coke and that was still messed up. The menu is lacking, but had the staples so stick with what you know instead of the purveyors l over prices specials. $58 for a surf and turf at this place didn't seem worthwhile. The room was nosey as the hotel had a party going on, so this wasn't an enjoyable atmosphere. Their uniforms try to make our look upscale, but looks dates instead. Overall, it wasbthe most affordable option in talking distance other than the Chinese restaurant that was hosting band night.

The owner was always kind and friendly and so were the staff. I even ended up meeting some of the regulars and would talk to them sometimes when I went there or when I saw them on the street. This place has managed to keep it's spot in a very expensive area in which honestly a lot of businesses around them have closed and gone out of business while they have managed to stay open for over 15 years. I believe it's because of their amazing food. I love this place not just because the food is great, but because it holds some sort of nostalgia to me. Sometimes costumers would draw things and they would hang it up.Or sometimes they would allow local artists to sell their art in the restaurant if I remember correctly so you always got to see something new as they change it after a while to allow a new artist to showcase their work. Which is pretty cool if you ask me. One time I drew something funny and weird and they had it up for a while. The atmosphere in the restaurant is very relaxing to me. It's very comforting. It's very welcoming and very homie. I love the aesthetic inside. The place is very small though, but I never really had problem finding a place to sit. If you are looking for outstanding vegan food I suggest you try good karma on Santa Clara in first Street. San Jose ca. Good Karma you are still my number one favorite restaurant in San Jose, California.

Their dishes are customizable so I chose it to sit on top of Egg Rice (which also was on top of some shredded cabbage). I chose the spice on the chicken to be lemon pepper (non spicy option) and Angry sauce drizzled on top (which is flavorful and just enough spicy). This was listed as their best selling. Bcuz many photos had the Corn Cheese, i decided to add that on as a side. Did I need the .99cent mac salad add on too? No, I would have been full without either side, But did i enjoy them and glad I tried, yes! It was my first time there so I went for it. I have some Santa Clara favorites and will add to my list of places to go when I'm working over here. The service was friendly, on time, and interior has cool vibe and a great place to hang with your friends.

It isn't fancy inside, but it has that easy, comfortable Korean restaurant feel where you can come in hungry and know you're leaving full. We tried a few different dishes and everything was flavorful and satisfying. The ramen came out hot and comforting with a nice broth, noodles, and green onion. The rice bowl was packed with saucy crispy meat, kimchi rice, cucumber, tomato, and a creamy side that pulled everything together. The tteokbokki was bright, spicy, cheesy, and cozy, with plenty of rice cakes and fish cake in that classic red sauce. The wrap was really good too and packed full with meat, lettuce, sauce, and cheesy richness. It was filling in the best way and definitely one of the standouts. One thing I really liked is that they give you a lot of food. The portions feel generous without the prices feeling ridiculous, which makes it a good option when you want something casual but still filling and flavorful. They also have a good selection of food, so it's easy to find something whether you're in the mood for noodles, rice bowls, spicy Korean comfort food, or something more handheld. The space itself is pretty normal and simple, nothing over the top, but it works for what it is. I also noticed they offer 50% off beer from 11am to 4pm every day, which is a pretty nice deal if you're going earlier in the day. The only thing that brought the experience down was the service. Our server wasn't very friendly and seemed pretty surly, which stood out because the food itself was enjoyable. It wasn't enough to ruin the meal, but it did make the overall experience feel a little less warm than it could have been. Overall, Rice Junky is one of those spots that's worth trying if you're in the area and craving something filling, flavorful, and casual. The food was tasty, the portions were generous, and the pricing felt pretty fair for most items. I'm glad we tried it, but I don't know that it would be a repeat visit spot for me, mostly because even though the flavors were delicious, a lot of them felt pretty similar to other Korean spots.
