Honestly, idk what the staff is mad about, but it seems like everything. Food and beverages are good. Had pot pie and shepherds pie. Hands down, pot pie over the shepherds pie. I wish this place weren't so depressing. It just seems like a buzz kill. Can't put my finger on it, but it probably is the staffs energy. Probably won't be back, unless I'm depressed.

Laid back bar with good vibes! My partner's grandpa frequented this pub before covid and was bummed they stayed close through 2020. When they finally reopened recently, I had a chance to visit to beloved trials pub. The place had great decors, bar seats as well as tables. You order at the bar and seat yourself. So far I've tried the chicken mushroom pot pie and the fish n chips. Chicken mushroom pot pie was delish. It was seasoned well and the pastry was not raw. I was really excited to try the fish n chips as recommended but found it to lack seasoning. Perhaps they forgot to put salt on after it was done frying :s I also got the mashed peas. That was also okay, lacking salt. They have great drinks tho! Beers on tap are good as well as mixed drinks. Food 3.5/5 Drinks 5/5 Experience 4/5

Nice pub as pubs go! Been coming here for years but lately it's changed, the food for starters: the fish and chips was the thing to order the fish pieces were huge not 1 piece really? Bangers and mash... something changed, the sauce? Also some of the favs on tap are on the menu but not available, the service is still awesome glad to see the same gentleman tending the bar, he knows his stuff and good thing too cuz as I said some Beers no longer available so he recommended a good second choice.

Ask the Community - Trials Pub

Are the Maryland crabcakes real or imitation crab?

    Trials doesn't sell crabcakes.

What time do you open on St. Paddy's day?

    Trials opens at 5pm.

    Are kids allowed inside?

Kids are allowed inside though I don't think they can sit at the bar. There is seating at the back.

Is the pub, and the restrooms wheelchair accessible? I? Is there a step into the doorway? Does the ladies' room have an extra wide stall?

It's a single level pub, entry should be ok, same as for the restroom but it's a tight walk way leading to it but I'm people sure people will move make sure make it through, hope this helps!

The menu is lacking, but had the staples so stick with what you know instead of the purveyors l over prices specials. $58 for a surf and turf at this place didn't seem worthwhile. The room was nosey as the hotel had a party going on, so this wasn't an enjoyable atmosphere. Their uniforms try to make our look upscale, but looks dates instead. To date myself, lol, remember it opening in the late 80s and it was the spot. In some ways it still is the spot what's the right expectations. It has a British pup feel, a decent selection of beer, and every time I've gone in I've been satisfied with my food. This time ordered happy hour cheese sticks, zucchini, sticks, wings, and meat pie (not pictured). Zucchini sticks stood out! There was crispy on the outside and moist and juicy on the inside. Everything else was pub food that went great with our beers, and never been disappointed with the service.

The beer list is dominated by American craft brews with only a couple of British beers - and not one British beer on the Happy Hour list. The place has always been as much a sports bar as a pub, but it seems now they're got a lot of activities to bring people in: a trivia night, a karaoke night, Taco Tuesdays, etc. On my recent visit, the waitress was great. Friendly and helpful. I ordered a patty melt, which was perfection. It's one of those things that a place either gets right or doesn't, and The Brit came through. Sadly, the accompanying steak fries were kind of mushy. My friend ordered a Cornish pasty. He said that both it and the vegetables that came with it were tasteless. At the end of the night, my friend asked if I'd go back. I thought about it for a bit and said "maybe." I'd like to give their fish & chips a try. But overall, the place was just OK. The atmosphere was pleasant, the prices were good, but the food was a little disappointing.

I chose the CC Chicken Dupbop. Their dishes are customizable so I chose it to sit on top of Egg Rice (which also was on top of some shredded cabbage). Bcuz many photos had the Corn Cheese, i decided to add that on as a side. Did I need the .99cent mac salad add on too? No, I would have been full without either side, But did i enjoy them and glad I tried, yes! It was my first time there so I went for it. I have some Santa Clara favorites and will add to my list of places to go when I'm working over here. The pork was tender, flavorful, and had a nice smoky savory taste throughout. The kimchi fried rice added a good balance of spice and tanginess that paired perfectly with the richness of the pork. The homemade BBQ sauce was definitely the highlight for me. It had a sweet and smoky flavor with a little tang that made every bite even better. Portions were generous and filling, especially for the price, and everything was packaged nicely for takeout. Only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that the rice became a little oily toward the bottom of the bowl, but overall it was still a really satisfying meal. Would definitely order again when I'm craving a quick and flavorful rice bowl.
