Not giving me a heads up to call someone to cap the boiler flue? I didn't know this until I went up to the rooftop to check out the situation myself, because a storm was coming through and when I looked at the chimney from ground level it looked wrong. This could have been a disaster if I didn't catch it and called another company who was available to come by and cap the flue. Not sure what these guys are doing, but seems sketchy to me. Also tried to convince me I need a new chimney, roof and boiler set up. Second opinion said no to all. Two stars because fireplace insert is working.

This was very helpful as we have never had a chimney before and weren't sure what to expect. Eric came out for the inspection and was very professional and explained everything in detail. Despite this, there unfortunately was still a misunderstanding on our end. We reviewed the reports and decided to get both the creosote treatment and boiler liner installation. Dave and Matt came to do those and were friendly, efficient and clean. Later, when my husband looked at the work they did, it did not appear to be what we were previous told it would be at the initial inspection. We expected masonry and busting through the cinderblock and there didn't seem to be any of that. We wanted to make sure they were doing what we had been told they would do. We called and spoke to the owner, Robbie, who listened attentively to my husband's concerns. He very professionally and calmly explained the misunderstanding and apologized, explaining that honest work and customer satisfaction is of their upmost priority. We were very impressed with how he handled this and left the conversation having 100% faith in this business and its service people. He even came out again to repair some cracks that had formed once the cement had dried. Robbie went above and beyond to make sure we were satisfied customers. HV Chimney has been the only service I've used since purchasing my home 17 years ago. And Larry has been my go-to for advice and insurance that the job was properly managed. On this cleaning trip, Larry thoroughly inspected and cleaned the wood burning insert they recommended and installed a little less than a year ago. I didn't expect it to be a big job since we've used the fireplace just about four months in 2025. ( I almost put the service off a bit longer to save a few bucks.) My safety minded brain would not let me. THE DAY OF THE APPOINTMENT: my stove was not in use for months over the warm weather, so we we able to proceed. TIP: DO NOT USE UOUR FIREPLACE FOR AT LEAST 48 hours and insure there are no hot coals or they will need to reschedule for safety. We were ready to proceed. I'm glad I kept my appointment because more soot had built up in the nooks and crannies than was visible. SAFETY FIRST!!! Larry did his usual thorough examination and cleaning an left my living room tidier than he found it. I am considering options for a second fireplace that we decommissioned nearly 15 years ago. Larry took a close look and offered several great options for me. He's honest and Kelly at the office is wonderful and responsive, too. If you are lucky enough to have Larry work on your home, have the black coffee ready. FIVE STARS!!!

Was looking to have our liner cleaned, which had not been cleaned in several years. Two men showed…read moreup, took one quick look in the fireplace and decided that there was not way they could clean it, the liner needed to be replace, the insert needed to be cleaned and may not even work after that. Lectured us on how to dry wood for 5 minutes, that they would work up an estimate and that we also needed repointing on the chimney. They charged us $150.00 and left after about 15 minutes. After several days we received an estimate for a total of $22,300.00 to replace the liner, clean the insert and rebuild the fire place, with no credit for the $150.00 that we paid for zero work! Proceeded to have two other companies give estimate and both stated that the liner and insert could be cleaned for under $500.00. Hired one of them and cleaned the insert, the liner and now fireplace works great, like it is new. Not a good experience at all and would not recommend or ever use this company.
