Was looking to have our liner cleaned, which had not been cleaned in several years. Two men showed up, took one quick look in the fireplace and decided that there was not way they could clean it, the liner needed to be replace, the insert needed to be cleaned and may not even work after that. Lectured us on how to dry wood for 5 minutes, that they would work up an estimate and that we also needed repointing on the chimney. They charged us $150.00 and left after about 15 minutes. After several days we received an estimate for a total of $22,300.00 to replace the liner, clean the insert and rebuild the fire place, with no credit for the $150.00 that we paid for zero work! Proceeded to have two other companies give estimate and both stated that the liner and insert could be cleaned for under $500.00. Hired one of them and cleaned the insert, the liner and now fireplace works great, like it is new. Not a good experience at all and would not recommend or ever use this company. read more

I had a really bad experience with this group unfortunately. I had them come take a look at my fireplace to try and put together a proposal for some repair work. Two of their team members came and they hardly looked at anything, stayed for no more than 5 minutes, and told me right off the bat that the repair would cost a minimum of $12,000. They were extremely unhelpful and unprepared and seemed like they wanted to give me bad news. It was very transparent that they were just after my money. I got quotes from several different groups who told me they were wrong about what they said and that the pricing they quoted me was ridiculous. Another great job by the team at Absolute precision! We had them back to restore our living room fireplace and a few other odds and ends (install flashing on our chimney and parge our foundation). They did a superb job with all of the projects. The team was polite and obsessively clean throughout the project. They vacuumed up their dust and dusted our furniture at the end of each day and took care not to mar our new wood floors. They ripped out the old fireplace entirely and didn't even disturb our 100-year-old plaster. The new fireplace is beautiful, and even better, it's functional. I called Absolute Precision to get a second opinion regarding repairs to my chimney, along with an estimate for work. When the men showed up, I asked them if they were going to check the chimney from the top down, as we could see that we needed some exterior masonry repairs. They said they didn't have to go on the roof - before even coming inside and looking at my chimney; that it would be better to use a digital camera inside the flu (!). In addition to the fact that I have never had a chimney inspection that didn't entail both an interior and exterior inspection, how can a camera inside a flue examine the exterior crown, flashing and masonry? How did they know upon arriving at my front door that they didn't need to go on the roof and do an exterior inspection? When I said that I didn't want an inspection unless they went on the roof to inspect the masonry & crown, one of the men started to argue with me that it was not necessary (so why did they have an extension ladder on their truck?) and that I didn't know what I was talking about. I told them I wouldn't waste their time and to leave. To cap it off, I got a call from the main office about 15 minutes later demanding an "explanation" from me - rather than offering an apology for his employees' bad behavior, not to mention the fact that they refused to do the complete inspection that they were hired to do, up front. read more
