David came out at 2AM, explained to me why my unit needed replacing and then came out the following Sunday to replace the unit! I have not seen this level of service for many years. I have used David and his crew ever since - they have always been reliable, professional and fair in all of our dealings.

Within just a few hours of a scheduled maintenance visit, I noticed that my home was getting unusually hot. I went into the attic to check and found that one of my HVAC units was no longer working and that water was dripping in an area where it shouldn't have been. I immediately contacted AC Works. They returned, inspected the unit, and told me that the motor had failed. When I asked what could have caused it, I was told that a power surge had blown the motor. Fortunately, I have a Ting electrical monitoring device that continuously monitors electrical activity in my home. I checked the history for the period following the technician's visit, and there was no recorded power surge. Naturally, I questioned the explanation. The unit stopped working only hours after routine maintenance, and the stated reason did not appear consistent with the information available from my electrical monitoring system. I wanted to understand what actually happened. My intention in asking questions was not simply to assign blame. If something went wrong with the system, I need to understand the actual cause so that I can prevent the same failure from happening again. If the cause really was electrical, I would want to address that. If it was mechanical or related to something else, I would want to address that instead. Giving a homeowner an accurate explanation matters because it affects what corrective action should be taken. What disappointed me most was the response when I questioned the power-surge explanation. Instead of addressing my concern with a clear technical explanation, the conversation became defensive, and I was told that I was being rude. Equipment can fail, and mistakes can happen. I can accept that. What I find much harder to accept is an explanation that doesn't appear to match the available evidence, followed by defensiveness when a customer asks reasonable questions about it. After being a customer for a couple of years, I expected transparency and a professional explanation of what actually happened. I am still interested in understanding the true cause--not only because of what happened this time, but because I want to make sure it does not happen again.

When I moved it was partially unfortunate that I had a home warranty because I was forced to use the company that was provided with it. They were very thorough and helped me get the home sold with their sign-off on my A/C unit. I've since had Prosper Air out to my new home twice and nothing has changed in all three visits. They are professional, responsive, and never try to nickel and dime you. A great upside is I'm buying all my home air filters from them now and it saves a significant amount from what I was paying from Home Depot / Lowes. I never knew that buying certain filters could be bad for your A/C unit because of air flow restrictions. They saved me there too. All in all I can't imagine a better experience in an often poor-experience industry than what Prosper Air has provided.

For the first two days, I worked with the A/C repair company that had been on our builder's vendor list for the past six years. They were scheduled to come out, but completely blew us off on the day of the repair. Their estimate was either $4,500 or $7,000. Thankfully, when that company didn't show, I reached out to Exodus Mechanical. It was after business hours, and I was desperate for help. Kristi, the owner, immediately worked with her husband, Brian, and their team to get us some relief. Within an hour, one of her employees was at my house installing a window A/C unit. While he was inspecting everything, he also found mold caused by a backed-up drain pan, that was making a huge puddle leak out the side of our house. He took care of the issue, cleaned everything up, and made sure the system was working properly. What I appreciated most was the honesty. With Texas temperatures staying over 100° for days and reaching around 110°, he explained that it's simply not realistic for an upstairs unit to maintain 68° in that kind of extreme heat. Instead of trying to sell me repairs or equipment I didn't need, Garrett reassured me that nothing else was wrong with my AC. Recently moved to Dallas from the Midwest in the last 6 months, in laws in town, and first child born a few days prior to the HVAC going out. I was charged over $800 for "Run Capacitor, Start Circuit and Blower capacitor" which was less than $100 in material and an hour of work and did not resolve issue. For the non technical folks this is equivalent to changing the batteries on your remote control for your TV that doesn't turn on. Once I called around other licensed businesses quoted $250 for the same work. The kicker of it all is I called them The next morning informing them the issue persisted, and was charged $67 for the team to come out and confirm what I said over the phone was correct. They quoted $4K for a rebuild, $12K for a new unit, and $1.5K to replace the seized motor I purchased the a motor online and installed It for less than $200 and 2 hours of work. The quotes from the other contractors were around $500 for the same work. Long story short. Please avoid this business like the plague, get multiple quotes, ask your neighbor and work colleagues on who they use and don't blindly trust highly reviewed businesses on yelp/google. Good luck
