I like sitting outside, when the weather is warm and good. I went here several times, 2-3 occasions for beer or drinks daytime, 2-3 lunches, and one dinner. You can enjoy their drinks like draft beer or soda on the table outside between lunch and dinner time or on weekdays, as they are less busy. And they get you free chips and salsa. You can spend some great relaxing time, whle they dont offer happy hours. For lunch on weekends, their services can get slow, as I do not think they have enough number of employees/servers... you need to be patient sometimes.... bills for your lunch can be full $18-20 w/o tips, which is new normal these days. Their food quality is good enough to enjoy, not the highest quality, though. Overall, great place to visit for some decent Mexican food and some cold beer at the patio outside. read more

Yes yes and yes I would recommend this restaurant to friends and family. In fact my family get dinner here all the time since we moved to sacramento. When we have friends that come to visit, this is where we go for dinner/lunch. I am the biggest fan of the carnitas plate. I can never eat the whole thing so I usually share with my daughter. Their salsa and chips are spot on as well. My husband always get the carnitas burrito. Their drinks are unbelievable too. All I'm going to say is this is my favorite restaurant. I love this place. Always feel very satisfied with the service and with the food! Some favorites are the nachos, the chicken enchiladas, and their salads. It was all just ok. The patio is a cute location and the server was nice. The mole sauce on my entree and the chips and salsa were ok, but everything else was just 'eh'. The side soup was not good. It tasted like vegetable soup from a can with mushy shredded chicken added to it. This was our first time here and it was refreshing to eat out at a place with a cozy outdoor atmosphere (good social distancing), delicious food, and have a good time out with our daughters. The staff was excellent. All wore masks, restrooms were available and all doors had foot openers. The plates were huge and we were served plenty of food. The only reason I didn't give it five stars was because of some flies and a bee. I noticed some centerpiece fans on some of the tables to keep flies away (what a great idea!) It's great that there is a Tres Hermanas here in Davis. I love the one in Sacramento, so having one in downtown saves me a trip over there. Though I do enjoy this location's ambiance and convenience, it doesn't quite measure up to its Sacramento counterpart. , This Tres Hermanas is located across from the Davis train station. If you don't ever go that way, you'd never know it was there, but the restaurant is a good size with a very spacious patio for outside dining. The interior also has a good amount of space. One thing that this location has going for it over the one in Sacramento is the size of the restaurant and the really cool decorations all around. Tres Hermanas Davis definitely has its own vibe. The restaurant's interior is vibrant with a eye catching decor all around. In terms of food, Tres Hermanas has what you would expect to find at a sit-down Mexican restaurant. All the traditional things are there including carnitas, tacos, burritos, and enchiladas. You can also find chile relleno and tamales! One of my favorite ways to order is to get a combination plate of two items. It's great to get two selections as well as rice, beans, and a choice of soup or salad. Speaking of salad, my absolute favorite thing to get here is the taco salad. I don't know why, but taco salads are becoming more and more difficult to come by. Well, if you're here, don't let the chance pass you by... get the taco salad! The shell is exactly the crispy, airy texture you want and it is filled with all the traditional ingredients of a taco salad. When choosing meat, I would definitely recommend the steak. And don't forget their cilantro dressing. It is one of the best around. I'm so glad we have a Tres Hermanas in Davis. I haven't been to this location in years, and now I remember why. I went with my family for dinner last night. We ended up having to send the chicken enchiladas back because the chicken tasted like fish. The carnitas plate was very bland. We also tried the special of the flautas de papas, which also weren't good. The manager on shift was also extremely rude and unprofessional. He slammed a refill for my nephew on the table and rude when we asked for boxes. We also heard him being condescending and unprofessional to other staff members there. I'll definitely stick with the one in Sacramento. Do better Davis! read more

I would give this place 0 stars if possible, but our waiter Rogelio was amazing so that star is for him! The food greatly lacked flavor and seasoning. The bean dip tasted very bland. I read a review that said their refried beans tasted canned and, honestly, I 10000% would have preferred that over the bland blah that they served. The "Meatball Soup" was watery -- yet oily -- and had no flavor. The meat itself had a weird consistency. The chips were freshly made, which was nice. The salsa was pretty good as well! Tried this place for the first time on Mother's Day with my parents. I really enjoyed the food here, my dad ordered the crab enchiladas, my mom ordered the fish tacos, and I ordered the shrimp fajitas. The crab enchiladas were huge and my dad enjoyed them quite a lot. All meals come with the choice of soup or salad, and rice and beans which is a nice touch! Endless chips and salsa, the salsa also tasted fresh. Overall had a really positive experience here, the food is delicious and for the portion sizes well priced! The shrimp in my fajitas were huge and well seasoned. I will be coming back here! Going there for over 10 years, very good food, good service. enjoyed everytime we go.

I've been to the Tres in Midtown Sac and the food is pretty good but this Davis location fell way below. Firstly, the service. I'm not sure if it was an off day when we went but it took about 30 minutes for us to even put our food order in and I had to flag down a server as a reminder. Secondly, they forgot our margaritas multiple times and we had to remind the server. Thirdly, my water glass was visibly very dirty from prior use and I had to ask for a new water. The food was fine but the service tanked my review for sure. I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt that perhaps it was a huge rush, but it wasn't! It was before 6pm on a Sunday and there wasn't a huge crowd to serve. I could tell a few tables around us were also frustrated that the servers weren't responding in a reasonably timely manner. Came here on Mother's Day with my mom to get a drink after having lunch elsewhere. The two employees we had contact with were unbelievably rude and treated us like we were inconveniences. First, when we approached the hostess and asked if there was room at the bar for two just for drinks, she seemed to reluctantly say yes. Then she oddly asked if we wanted menus to see the drinks (obviously yes), and when I said yes she seemed confused / irritated? It was very strange. It could have also been that I've been so used to QR menus for so long. So I can get past that I suppose. But even when I explained this to the hostess in a friendly, joking manner, she literally just said, "Oh. Okay?" Super unfriendly. Next, the bartender. An older gentleman. He saw our leftover takeout boxes and said, "Just getting drinks?" And I said, "Yes, but I think I'll be the only one getting a drink." His attitude shifted immediately and you could tell he was clearly perturbed we were only getting one drink. After I ordered my drink, the bartender never came back to check on us but was actually seated at the bar having a full on conversation with some other patrons (they seemed to be friends). When I was looking around to get someone's attention for the check, he clearly looked at me and continued his conversation and didn't bother to ask if he could help with something. I had to wave down another waitress who assisted us with our check. Sorry we weren't purchasing more. Sorry my mom doesn't drink and wasn't ordering a drink as well. But that's no reason to treat us the way we were treated. I don't enjoy going into an establishment and being blatantly treated as an inconvenience by being there. Staff needs an attitude adjustment. Tres! That's pretty much the only description you need to indicate this place. Happy hour "everyday" 3-6pm. The bar was a little louder than the rest, so we sat down at a table on the other side of the place. No ghosts this time either- think it graduated and moved across country. ;-) The beans and cheese on my regular plate were pretty delicious. Yes, that's an item accompanying my meal, but they were good. At the table next to me, two children ordered just beans and rice plates while accompanying (just a guess actually) their father for dinner. Chile colorado burrito had wonderful chunks of pork in a red sauce in it. Served upon some shreds of lettuce, it was the most plain looking of the items, yet it was still delicious. Chile relleno was so drowned in sauce that it almost went unnoticed. When I did finally notice it, the flavors were yummy. In fact, I'd say that it was close to perfectly presented- tasty to even my eyes when I look back upon it. For Davis, it's excellent food presented very well. This review is specifically about the Vegetarian menu which indicates plates to include rice and beans however, unlike the Sacramento restaurant, they do not have vegetarian rice, I was advised it's made with chicken stock. This is an unfortunate oversight and if I had not inquired, I would have included the rice with my entree. Tres hit the spot! I can't even remember the last time I've eaten here, so we can just pretend this was my first time. We were on our way back to Sac, from the City, and were too ravenous to wait to get home. So we pulled off into Davis and searched for some food. To be completely honest, we ended up here because it was right where we parked, which was close to the Good Scoop, which was my real dessert destination for the trip. That being said, we love their families location in Sac. So what would be different here? Nothing, right? Well, we were in for a treat. It exceeded our Sacramenten expectations. Again, it could be due to the fact that we were really hungry, but I don't think that's the sole reason... For starters the chips and salsa were on point this random Sunday. It wasn't crowded so we were seated immediately. We chose inside to watch copious amounts of football. Our server was very attentive, since there weren't that may people there. The chips and salsa kept flowing and we couldn't help ourselves. I was going to branch out, but stuck with my tried and true - Carnitas plate sans beans. J went with the Nachos and added asada. We were 15 minutes for their HH, but I ended up ordering the sangria anyway (its not on HH). The food came out super fast and everything was on point. My glass of sangria came out in a frothy mug and it was an added surprise! My carnitas were delicious, salty, and crispy -- just how they should be. We were really in awe of how good the flavor of the asada was, it was really good. Like really good. We kept saying how good it was, even to the server. We happily devoured our meals and both sipped on my sangria. To say we were happily content is an understatement. I don't think we will necessarily drive out there for our Tres fix, but we are glad we gave this location a try. Happy Hour Review I came in during HH today and it was fairly busy. It took a while to get chips and salsa but it was not an agonizing wait. We came into Tres Hermanas after a long day hiking and were tired & hungry. We were seated quickly, our server Miranda came over right away to get our drink order, followed by chips and salsa. Miranda returned right away with our drinks (much appreciated) and asked if we were ready to order. She answered all our questions about menu items with a friendly disposition. Orders arrived without much of a wait, and everything was delicious. I had the top sirloin fajitas, and my two friends had an enchilada plate and Carne Asada. The horchata tasted homemade (not powdered mix) with just the right amount of cinnamon. About midway thru our meal, the manager Paul came by to say hi and make sure we were enjoying our meals. I'm always impressed when a manager takes the time to greet customers. This was my second time here, and if I didn't live so far away, I would make this restaurant a regular stop. read more

My coworker comes here at least once a week, and I can see why! Parking in downtown Davis can be a chore, but we got luck the day we came for lunch for my birthday. We were seated on the patio very quickly, and the staff greeted my coworker like an old friend, so we were definitely treated in kind and we all had a great time and lots of laughs. If you've heard about Tres Hermanas other location and know about their cilantro salad dressing, then come on down if you're in the area, because it is all sorts of AWESOME! You get a choice of soup or salad with most of the entrees, and my coworker isn't big on vegetables, but he said the soup was very very good. He always orders the shrimp quesadilla which is not on the menu, but it's the same thing as the crab quesadilla but shrimp and it looked really good. I had the chile verde burrito and chicken enchilada combo with beans and rice and it was all-around good. Everybody eats a ton of the complimentary chips and salsa at Mexican places, but man, their salsa was just really really good! Not too spicy but plenty of kick, not watery, and not too chunky. Everybody else at the table at a lot of it with me and really enjoyed their food. I'm sure we'll all be back for many more lunches and come to check out their happy hour. read more

Davis doesn't have many restaurants in the area, but this was probably our favorite! They have great food and margaritas. The salsa is incredible! They also have a huge outdoor seating area which allowed us to continue to dine here during Covid and feel safe. Inside is a cute atmosphere with decorations and paintings on the wall. We sat outdoors on the patio last evening; it was chilly with only a few patio heaters. The tables were socially distanced & when up and walking around people wore masks. We watched them clean off the tables with a swipe of the cloth, never touched the backs of the chairs or seats. The cement patio had a lot of tortilla chips and loose food on it. I brought wet wipes and used them on the menu, but the waitress said they clean them every time. I ordered the Smoked Margarita, the menu said it had a spicy salt rim but didn't mention the drink was really spicy hot like habaneros. I tied a tasty couple of sips but couldn't drink it. The waitress was kind enough to get me a plain Rita. I had the beef chimichanga, filled with tasty beef & covered with melted cheese, it was huge. My husband had the Tamales Vegetarianos, he said the mass was good but there were few veggies to be seen. The chips and salsa were good. The service was very good.
