Immediate Attention Required - Customer Treatment at Fairfax Location I'm reaching out to bring a serious issue to your attention regarding your Fairfax location. I recently visited the store at the start of the spring season--typically a great time for cycling and community engagement. My intent was simple: get air in my bike tires. My initial interaction with a staff member was excellent--welcoming, helpful, and exactly what you'd expect from a community-focused business. That experience changed completely when your service manager became involved. The interaction quickly escalated into behavior that was demeaning, hostile, and completely unprofessional. I was spoken to in a way that was both disrespectful and humiliating--something I can honestly say I have never experienced in my 64 years. More concerning, I was told I was not welcome in the store. Let me be direct: that is not a customer service issue--that is a leadership issue. This individual represents your brand in the local community, and based on this interaction, does so in the worst possible way. Behavior like this doesn't just impact one customer--it erodes trust, damages your reputation, and pushes business away from what should be a community anchor. I also want to highlight the contrast: your frontline employee created a positive, welcoming experience. That tells me the culture at the ground level has potential--but it is being undermined by management behavior that is completely out of alignment. I am asking for two things: A review of this incident and the conduct of the service manager Clear confirmation of how you intend to address this moving forward I would strongly encourage you to take this seriously. Experiences like this don't stay isolated--they get shared, and they influence where people choose to spend their money. I look forward to your response. --Mark E read more

Danny went out of his way to help us out. Called another Trek store to find the exact bike we wanted.

Needed a new seat for my bike. Folks were friendly and helpful. I was able to purchase one. Back on the road again.

I bought a bike + accessories for my wife here and the team (Robin in particular) couldn't have been better, guiding me through the selection process, getting it set up, and doing a free tune-up later. My wife loved it and I've had a great time with my Trek mountain bike too. read more

Repair shop is reliable and helpful. My boy isn't old enough for a Trek bike, but once he is would definitely shopping here to get it

I had a great experience here! I got a new (used) bike recently. It's mostly in great condition, but the rear brakes weren't working. I brought it in and got it fixed for $15 in 15 minutes! It was definitely something I didn't know how to do myself--is already tried and failed :) While I waited, I shopped around and saw that they have a great range of helmets and gear. The helmets start at $44 (they can get super pricey, but I'm not like a professional biker so I don't need all that.) An employee helped me try on some different brands and styles and got me the right fit. They were honest and didn't try to convince me to buy a $200 helmet (which was great because I would never do that.) read more

There's a new bike shop in town. If you are Trek shopping this is the store for you. They have a full line of Trek's as well as Specialized and some other brands as well. The down turn in the economy has hit the bike shops especially hard. It's a discretionary purchase and a narrow demographic so it's been sad to see so many smaller shops close their doors. Jim & Bob opened these NoVa regional shops to provide a bike shop experience with a local flavor. They support local bike rides and charities. That's what I call giving back to the community! Welcome Spokes Etc to the neighborhood. Check out their web site, they also do service and repair. read more

Bought my bike here and have all servicing done at the Fairfax location as well. A great crew! Everyone from the floor staff to the service department provide you with efficient, friendly service, and the prices are not crazy. A shoutout to Sam and the guys in service: your tuneup of my bike made the rides exceptional and got that brand new bike feel back! Thanks! read more

Thank you to the pandemic for helping me find a new love and hobby... cycling! Also a big thank you to Tyler at Spokes for helping us find the PERFECT bike. Between my husband and I, my siblings, and a few friends, we have spent........ almost all of our life's savings here in the past 4 months. Tyler and Chang are always SUPER helpful and knowledgeable. We purchased a hitch rack which malfunctioned after 3 rides and caused one of our friend's bikes to fall and drag on the road. His handle bar was completely damaged so we took it to Spokes to see what they could do for us. Chang came out and offered to exchange the bike or replace the handlebar with no issues. This was greatly appreciated, no hassle, just straight to the point. The guys here are AWESOME! read more

Went here yesterday to get my front tire fixed and my wife's bike ride-able. We've been here several times over the last few years for fixes and new bike purchases. TLDR: The good news: They are open during this pandemic crud, and heavily practicing social-distancing norms. With very good service. The bad news: the line to get in can be long (admittedly, not their fault). So, we were in dire need of some bike service this weekend, and decided to see what their timeframe is for repairs and if we had to schedule something to get the bike in. They said it's pretty much first-come-first-serve, and that tune-ups were taking about two weeks due to backlog. We weren't thrilled about that, but brought both our mountain bikes in--one with a warped rear wheel (that I figured needed a new wheel) and some major gear issues, so unrideable and really needing a tune-up; one with a front axle missing QR nut (making the bike unrideable.... no idea how it came off, and very lucky I didn't find out the hard way), and the bike definitely could have used a general tune-up. So, I was prepared to be without both bikes for a couple weeks. We got to the shop, grabbed our bikes, and got in a very spread-out line extending from the door along the front face of the building to the end of the building... maybe 7-10 people in front of us, with clear markings on the walkway of where to stand. There was a guy that immediately checked us in and determined what we needed (mechanic, sales, etc.). I heard him remark to a customer after us that he had marked when their car drove into the parking lot.... so pretty dang on the ball. After a good 15-20 minute wait, we were ushered into the store with our bikes and the mechanic grabbed the first bike, asked us some questions, and examined it. After a few minutes, he says both the rear wheel and gears can be saved. Then they get my bike and get me a nut (no charge). He says both bikes can be rideable and out of there in a few, or we can wait two weeks for tune-ups. That was a no-brainer. And, he only charged me labor cost for replacing the nut. Both bikes fixed on the spot, and in and out of the shop (and line) in maybe an hour, tops. Not bad in this day and age. While that visit was a 5, we've had other visits where service was hard to come by, and during a bike purchase, I felt they were pushing a very overpriced bike at my daughter. So, altogether, a solid 4 stars, and I'm super happy there were able to accommodate us and get us riding again quickly. Highly recommended! read more

I tend to write reviews only if I multiple great experiences and this is one of those places. Everyone I have interacted with at this location have been amazing! Sales team... amazing... service team... amazing... the guy letting people in and out... amazing. I never thought I would spend this much money on a bike but I would do again just have the experience I had with this purchase. Great work team Spokes FFX! read more

Incompetent service. Can't even install new bikes properly. I really wanted to support this business but this wasn't the first time I've experienced their incompetence. We won't go back. Proceed at your own risk. Follow up: we take the bike back in. This was the fourth time in 2 years doing business with them that we've had issues with mechanic's work and had to return a bike to have repairs to a repair. The mechanic says "maybe you put it on your car wrong." Yes, we were so rough with the bike that the derailer magically uninstalled itself and reinstalled itself backward. A shame it couldn't do it again when we loaded the bike back on the car to take it back. read more

I am definitely a fan of Spokes Etc. When shopping for a mountain bike for my wife, we kept hearing about great bike shops all over, but nobody had a great store selection. How do you expect me to pay almost $1k for a bike and not give me options to touch and ride? The folks at Spokes in Vienna and Fairfax were great to talk with - no pressure, and they were awesome at answering all of our novice questions. I really like how they let you try out their bikes first before making a decision and they really showed me what you get for the money. I like the customer service they offered, including the bike clinics you can attend and get 10% off on accessories during the clinic. I would definitely recommend Spokes to everyone. My only reluctance to give them 5 stars is due to the price monopoly out there from companies like Specialized. Specialized evidently forbids internet pricing, so you are basically at the mercy of paying MSRP on the bike unless you have an inside connection at a dealer who will discount off of MSRP. In fairness to Spokes, they did help me out a "little" when I purchased two MTB bikes from them. You could argue that the selection and service they give you is worth the money. read more

I called prior to stopping by to see if they had to time to change a tubeless tire (with an unrepairable leak). The gentleman told me to bring in the bike, that they had four guys working right now and they could change the tire. However, when I arrived this was NOT the case. At first they told me they could have it done in two hours, but then he came back again and said this would be a job for their "maintenance group" and it would be two weeks. TWO WEEKS to change a tire! Because I can only assume that the four guys that were currently "working" there didn't have the knowledge or capability to change a tire. I grabbed my bike and went to A1 Cycling in Herndon. The guys there fixed my flat tire in less than ten minutes with AMAZING customer support. I will never try Spokes again. If you can't even change a tire for a customer my trust in your store and any worker there is at a nil. read more

I give them 2 stars, because some of the dudes that work here are friendly and helpful, but their prices are outrageous. I'm talking about a 40% or more mark-up on MSRP. I would go elsewhere. Drive a little further to find a better LBS. They do exist! read more

Always kind and attentive, especially the pple.out back fixing the bikes. Theyll help diagnose problems and not nickel and dime you for everything. Good pple. Clean and well organized store too. read more

Completely dissatisfied. Totally RUDE and very arrogant sales rep. I guess he thought he was schooling me on why there are a "lack of bikes" because I must not have figured out COVID was the culprit of the crippling production. He told me to put myself in HIS shoes, and I was wasting my time going from store to store instead of calling, and how his $30,000 bike order for his store TRUMPS (he literally said that) my single bike order. I went in prepared to purchase bikes for my son, my husband and myself. He had no clue how much I might have spent in his store, but now he'll never know. After he finish his cocky comments I wouldn't have bought a stick of gum from him. Quite frankly he made himself look like a fool. I'm embarrassed for him. read more

Anna was very knowledgeable and courteous. She answered all of my queries with professionalism. Awesome customer service.

I sent an email to the store yesterday morning inquiring about bike repair and received a reply within a couple hours. I brought my bike in that evening after work around 5:15pm and the service manager Buck, took care of me. After checking out my bike, he came back to the counter to inform me what was required to get me back on the trail. 2 tires and new brakes (note - my bike has original parts from when I bought it 20+ years ago). Needles to say, Buck said other than that the bike is in really good condition. I asked how big their queue was for repairs and he said he'd have it ready within an hour! After a couple beers and some oysters I got a phone call from Buck stating my bike was ready. Excellent service, fair pricing and quality repair. Thumbs up for Spokes Etc in Fairfax! read more

Jack and Ethan are wizards. They really helped me out with some break issues I had and recommended a great break set that didn't break the bank for me. They both care about rider safety and they are constantly looking out for the customer first. Highly recommend this spot. read more

Utter ridiculousness!! This place will rip you off so don't go get service here. I had two bikes repaired here. Surprisingly, the first bike I took was my $2100 mountain bike that I needed the brake noodle and handle bars put on properly. A young man fixed my problem for only $15!!!! I was blown away by that to the point, I decided to take my half put together daughters bike to Spokes. This time, it was a small bmx type. I started to explain to the tech about what i needed. He asked me to wait an proceeded to the back to consult with a co-worker. He then came back and said, " for this bike it's gonna cost ya $130." With a "it's up to you," look on his mug! I said okay, but I knew this person was overcharging me way over! I paid , then he told me that they would need the bike for a week. At this point I'm like, just fix the bike! I'm really feeling ripped off right about now!! Sad they don't even do specials for small kids! read more

I was about to buy a bike box from Fedex (~$20) to ship my bike, then I thought Spokes might have one cheaper. When I called, they said they can give me one for free! Also, as I was trying to take apart my bike to get it ready for shipping, one of the pedals was frozen in to crank. I walked in with my bike, and they kindly assisted me, and removed it for me for free! Thank you Spokes! I would highly recommend them to everyone for their great service. Though they are little pricy overall, their services are top notch. read more

I regularly bring my bike for repairs, tuneups, as well as accessories. The service shop is second to none, turning the bike around and consistently delivering top-notch service. The sales staff is knowledgeable and polite without being pushy. Highly recommend them. read more

Outstanding customer service from the jump. Thanks to Brian, I was able to come away with a nice, new bicycle that I'm sure will yield plenty of fine rides. I haven't ridden since I was a teenager, so coming in to check bikes out was kind of intimidating. The process here was quite smooth, as the staff took the time to get me fitted to the bike that would fit my needs, all without pressuring me into sales or being overbearing. These guys are highly recommend! Thanks again!! read more

Review #7 On Fri when I went in to test & look at a bike a 2nd time, Chris was excellent & very knowledgeable. The bike frame I needed wasn't at that store the Sat before, so he transferred it there for me to come back & try. He takes his time to help you & make sure you get what you need. He also let me test ride this bike, to ensure it would work, since it was a different frame size than the bike I tried on Sat. All staff are very nice & helpful. The Sat before when I went for the 1st time, Carl was also helpful & let me test ride a bike in the rain & helped me narrow down the frame size of the bike that would work best for my height. read more

Great place in Fairfax Spokes to bring any bike that requires annual maintenance. Their service guys know what they are doing, will not recommend service not required and with Jackson being one of the main service techs, you will be pleasantly surprised at their work ethic and professionalism. This shop gets five stars. read more

Love this bike shop. They fixed many of our kids bikes and the repair costs are super reasonable.

I would like to commend the bike technicians at Spokes Etc for really pulling through for me with a bike build. I had cracked the frame on a carbon fiber Ellsworth bike back in March (originally purchased directly through Ellsworth). Spokes was kind enough to supply me with a box to ship the frame back to Ellsworth. It took three long months dealing with Ellsworth due to production issues of the frame that I wanted. Ellsworth finally convinced me to upgrade (for free) to a different frame. I finally received my replacement frame on Tuesday. I immediately brought in the Ellsworth Evolve warranty replacement frame (along with all of my original components) Tuesday evening. The guys at Spokes Etc turned it around for me by Thursday evening. They did a super job on the build and I could not be happier with their service. I've also purchased a Specialized bike from them back in December for my daughter for Christmas and their sales staff is equally as great as their technical staff. I dedicate this weekend's rides to you guys! Thanks so much! read more

I recently took my bike in to have a flat tire repaired. Service was excellent (near the end of the day, nonetheless). The service associate promptly took my bike said he could have it fixed in 20 minutes. The shop is very clean and comfortable with leather seating and a tv to keep you comfortable while you wait. Prices seem fairly reasonable but I don't have much to compare against. read more

Why advertise a shoe not in stock? This is a surreptitious business practice. A teaser to get people in the store. We've bought 2 bikes at the Leesburg store and regularly go in for accessories. No more!!! Other stores in the area are honest. Support the other retailers. Spokes advertised shimano shoes 25% off (excludes s-phyre) in the Memorial Day 2019 ad. The Leesburg store does not carry shimano shoes but said some of the other spokes stores might. I called the Fairfax store and the employee said he has none in stock but can special order the shoe and yes I'd still receive the 25% off. But before driving an hour to place the special order I decided to quiz the employee a bit. Come to find out the me400 shoe I was looking for is not part of the 25% off. He also said all shimano shoes had to be special ordered from a supplier's warehouse and takes over a week. Support reputable stores. read more

TO THE MANAGER / OWNER: Fire the employee and complete idiot named KENNY if you care about your store's customer service reputation. If you're looking to buy shoes from this store, don't speak to the moron named KENNY. I asked him if they had shoes that weren't for clipless pedals (shoes that dont have hard and slippery soles with the screws on the bottom). He said, "you mean tennis shoes?" in a sarcastic tone, implying that I should just wear tennis shoes if that's what I'm looking to buy. I said, "no - like the 5 10 mountain bike shoes..." He replies with "we don't carry those or anything like it." WRONG. I guess he just preferred to flirt with the female employee next to him rather than help a customer. And I say WRONG because an extremely nice gentlemen named JIM helped me find the exact shoes I described and was looking for. JIM is the only reason I am not giving this store a 1 star review. read more

John was the consummate professional in assisting me in purchasing a bike. I will definitely return!

You know there's something special about a bike shop when you live in Arlington but wanted to take the ride to Fairfax to visit Spokes. Looking forward to future visits to ensure I'm up to date with tune ups and bike accessories. Highly recommended and extremely knowledgeable staff. read more

Great service on bikes and new bikes. Great staff. Better than the Lizard in herndon.

Walked in this evening to look at the new Trek pedelec e-bike. The staff was too busy openly mocking the customer that walked out as I was walking in to help me. An older staff member did assist me as I reached the furthest end of the store and I just informed him that I don't think I should spend my money where the staff is too busy to help a customer because of mocking another one. There are too many bike shops in the DC area to ever tolerate this. I will shop somewhere else and everyone else should too. read more
