Coming back from OBX with an SUV loaded with a rack of 4 bikes, the pin slipped out & the rack failed going 70 mph on I-95. I took several of the bikes here and Daniel worked miracles on the repairs. I decided to get my bike and running again and tried to replace my tires and tubes. With COVID I tried to do this by ordering through Amazon. Well... after 3 weeks and one blown tube I gave up and sought out a bike shop. I had never been to Bull Run Bicycles but gave it a shot. I took my wheel with the messed up tire explaining I now need (another) new tire after the last tube exploded. The next day they called and said "all fixed"! My bill? $6. I said "huh? $6, you sure you got the right guy?" They could easily have sold me a new tube and tire and maybe even a wheel too but was able to install the tire that I thought I wrecked. What can I say that others haven't already. Danny is awesome!! I went in off a friends recommendation and other reviews from yelp. Walked in and told Danny I haven't rode a bike since 1997. And it was just the other day I went MBT with a friend that the big bit me and found a new hobby. He took the time to explain all the differences between softail vs full suspension and "27 fivers" and 29s. He fitted me for what he thought would fit my stature and he was right. He even had me try other bikes so I could see the difference. Never once did I feel pressured to buy. In all reality I think we spent more time talking about riding then the actual bike I bought. Picked up a 27 fiver Haro '17 hard tail and I have been getting comments on how nice the bike looks. In less than a week of owning it I tore up the trail is Lorton and Meadowood. I've been in this area for years, and I found Bull Run bikes when they opened up on Liberia Avenue. I actually went in looking for a pair of gloves to use while motorcycle riding. I knew that the ones I wanted were bicycle gloves, and they had them in stock in my size for less than I expected to pay. I brought my bicycle to them when I first needed some work done. Since then I've had them replace tires, do tune ups, replace the seat and replace the handle bar mount. I've bought lights and stuff I can't remember. I love the place. Yeah, this place is as awesome as everyone says. The first time I went the place was PACKED (Saturday, I suppose) and since the register was busy, I accidentally asked some random dude on a stool if he worked there (he didn't). The guy behind the counter (who actually worked there) not only answered my question about brake pad replacement on the spot, but 30 seconds later he shows up right next to me asking about the details of my bike and the pros/cons of replacing squeaky brake pads vs. getting a new bike. Even gave me some suggestions on how to fit a new bike. Went back again today to bring in my new (used) bike for a tune-up and the guy behind the counter (who I can only assume is Danny) took one look at it and could tell me his estimations on the year (based on the brand and type of brakes?) it was made and noticed one brake pad was on backwards. Will update on the result of the tune-up but I have a feeling it'll be nothing surprising (i.e. awesome)! read more

He even knew all the little details of my mid 1990's Cannondale mountain bike right down to the exact color and decals. And no, I did not have my bike with me at the time so there is no way he could have sneaked a peek ahead of time. On the recommendation of a friend, I visited the store in order to purchase some new tubes and tires. Even though I spent very little money, Danny made me feel like his best customer. I really appreciate that! If you are looking for a lower quality wholesale club bike, this is not your place. Although you may find that the prices are still very competitive. Everything I want in a bike shop. I was pretty frustrated with all other bike shops in the area before I came to this one. I had purchased a fork, headset, and stem online (now that I have a good bike shop, I don't recommend doing this) and was needing them installed. I have been visiting this shop for about a year now. The people at this shop are outstanding! They really understand that their customers are more then just a pay check at the end of the day. You can truly see that they love what they do and want you to love what your buying and be completely satisfied with it. A few times I have bought my 6 year son with me to the store for different reasons. I can say without any doubt that the owner, his wife, and the employees of this store are family friendly. You can't have a bicycle shop only, with great people working at it, you must also have a nice selection of quality bicycles to fit everyone's budget. This store also excels in that extremely well. New or used, for a kid, a lady, or a man if you can't find it at this store, and they can't get it for you......it simply has not been invented yet. I have also had my bicycle worked on at this store, by far the best work I have seen! I have never had any repeat issues, but I am told they stand behind their work. I planned to buy a bicycle for my little girl here, as I walked in the smell of cigarettes blew me away. I would never expect to walk into a bicycle shop that smells like an ashtray. this is a place where fitness and health should begin for some, instead it was an attempt to walk out as fast as I could to avoid feeling sick from the cigarettes being smoked in the back. sometimes even with the door open the smoke comes in and not out. Excellent service from an independent bike shop. I bought a takeoff group set and had Danny install it on my bike. He did an excellent job at a very reasonable price and has provided a couple of adjustments for cable stretch at no charge. He also brokered a deal with another customer who was looking for a takeoff group set and ended up purchasing the one that came off my bike. Bull Run Bikes is a local bike shop which is primarily run by the one person who is the owner. Occasionally he has some part time or "friend" based help but for the most part it is a one man show. This is good and bad. It is good that he is a perfectionist and a gifted mechanic, it is good that he can keep consistent quality and is dependable. The bad, well there is only one Danny and things get backed up or may take a bit longer than the larger chain stores. I have purchased bikes, bought supplies, and had my bikes tuned up at BRB. All have been great experiences. I have participated in the Tuesday night rides and enjoyed them, a great way to safely ride with others and meet new folks of all ages and sizes. Having moved into the DC area and getting back into cycling, I picked up a bike that needed some work from a co-worker who was upgrading. The wheels and chain/cassette were worn, it needed a stem, and a quick tune up. I happened to be in Manassas and a wreck on 66 left me looking to kill some time... I had the bike with me, but when I went into Bull Run Bicycles I didn't dare bring it in, because no bike shop that I have ever gone into would take a walk in job on a Saturday afternoon. The couple in the shop greeted me promptly, then let me browse the whole store without bothering me... I bought a few things, then asked if they had a used stem that I could buy to try on the bike... I was given a very nice used one for free, and when I asked if Danny (I hope I got his name right) if he had time to swap my tires over to the extra wheels I had and then install a new cassette and chain, he didn't hesitate to say he would squeeze me in. Now I wouldn't expect that kind of service all the time, but to treat a new customer that way made a huge impression on me. Not only was the selection of stuff in the store good, the prices were very good for a local bike shop (always support your local family owned bike shop-it's the best service and great to have them there when you need them), the service and knowledge was great, and I can't wait to go back. So my chain breaks on a bike I am borrowing from my buddy a couple of months ago. We go into the store and there are 3 employees sitting there and one guy is working on a bike. My buddy and I are the only customers in the store and we ask them if they can throw on a chain real quick. He says "Ummmmmmm....naaaa...I am about to roll out for the day." I literally thought he was joking, but he wasn't. My buddy and I were in a pickle and purchase a chain anyway and put it on in the parking lot. The chain was a little to long, but we did what we could because they wouldn't help us out. I just couldn't believe they wouldn't want to help a paying customer. It is the closest bike shop to my house and I just purchased a nice new bike...and I will NEVER be back to purchase anything. read more
