Fallen tree branch before removal

I had an enormous tree branch (over a foot thick at the base over 20 feet long) in my back yard come down on my neighbor's garage last night during a storm. I spent the morning calling the city 311 and pepco seeing if they would do it given safety issue - which they wouldn't seeing as it was in my back yard and only landed on phone lines. By 1pm on a Friday I had to find a tree service that could give me an estimate and do the work before the weekend. By sheer dumb luck I had seen their truck in the neighborhood (Tenleytown/AU Park DC) and taken a photo of it as we needed some tree work anyway. I've had mixed results calling other trucks I've seen working on other peoples homes but I called the number anyway. Within an hour I had William of Treeman out at our house who told me "to be honest you may be able to get the city to do it" - I told him we tried unsuccessfully but I appreciated the honesty. He said his crew was working in the area and could swing by later in the afternoon and quoted a very reasonable price compared to several sight-unseen estimates I had (from other companies, most of which said I would have to wait until Monday for even an estimate). We gave him the go ahead and by 4:30 we had the crew with cherry picker, chainsaws, and wood chipper in our alley. Mind you by then the summer evening storms had made a return and they were working in the rain. Nevertheless they were extremely careful in extricating the branch piece by piece from my neighbor's garage and using ropes to carefully guide each foot-wide segment over our stone patio below. Overall they did the entire branch removal in maybe 45 minutes. A nice touch was that they used a leaf blower to clean the roof as well. REALLY top notch service and a cut above the rest!!!! Thanks for getting the branch off our neighbor's garage in the final few hours before the weekend and for making us look like "neighbors of the year" - you've earned a future repeat customer

It was in the contract to trim the tree away from the house, and it was not done…read more They were in the neighborhood and wanted to tack us on at the end of the day. The workers were evidently in a hurry to get the job done, and cut and dropped beaches indiscriminately all over, dropping them into flower beds and breaking my tulips. When I mentioned to one worker about cutting the tree back from the house, he reached up and cut off a nice, low hanging branch not even near the house that I wanted. Previosly, in cleaning up, a worker wanted to rake up pieces in our stone sitting area, where we had a design. I told him "Don't rake the rock," a number of times, and he argued with me that he had to. When I had to check on something else, he raked the area and messed up our stone design! It makes me feel like who's the boss, the customer paying for the work, or the worker!?

I've been using Bonifant for over thirty years for jobs big and small. They've cleared brush,…read moretrimmed Bradford Pears, cut back trees next door shading my flower beds, kept mature trees in tip top shape, removed a sick maple, and taken down huge trees. We recently bought a new house, and they removed four trees: a huge spruce over 60 years old, an elm perhaps 25 feet tall, and a holly and a dogwood which had seen better days. I thought we needed to remove a fifth but on their advice decided to keep it. Bonifant comes insured and bonded; their guys wear safety gear, including protection against poison ivy, and work fast and safe. Safety is important; I've used chain saws myself and have seen plenty of folks working on trees who take unnecessary risks. Bonifant shows up on time, cleans up carefully when done, and does a thorough job. One of the things I like most about them is that they don't just cut down trees, they know how to care for them. No matter what sort of trees are around your house, they need regular careful trimming to keep them healthy and to reduce the risk that they'll come down in a storm. Bonifant knows how to do this. Finally, their prices are imminently reasonable. I recommend them enthusiastically.
