Mauricio saved a palm tree that was flagged by PG&E as a threat due to its distance from the utility lines. While PG&E wanted to remove the entire palm tree, Mauricio and his team trimmed the tree to maintain the safe distance determined by PG&E from the utility line without killing it. Mauricio and his team has done fantastic job of patiently trimming the palm trees without compromising on it's aesthetics, health and safety. I needed our citrus trees trimmed and a quite dead apple tree removed from my garden so I could get growing. I did that thing where I spammed yelp for quotes, and Mauricio was one of the responders. Several OTHER people responded, but everyone else just had delays and questions and just didn't seem eager for the job, which is fine, but when both sides are lazy (which I happen to be) it just doesn't work out!! So Mauricio was EAGER! He _works_, you know? He wants it. He isn't just punching a card, he's making a name for himself. Another company was literally next door and wouldn't bother themselves to come look at my trees, but Mauricio popped right over, gave us a quote, and it was a great quote, so we jumped on it. One of the things I really wanted was a load of tree trimmings, ground up. Mauricio had some friends of his that have a larger company that can do larger jobs dump their tree trimmings at my house so I can put them in the garden. I've been trying to get someone to do that for AGES! I have great ground up leafy wood chips like I wanted for my garden. Score! We had some rain and that had to push things out, but Mauricio showed up asap and got the job done, and even came out during a 1 hour break in the rain to grind the stump. I decided to also have him plant our little dwarf trees, and silly me I didn't tell him we had a little watering system right there. I had two trees in front that were over 60 years old. I have lived here for​ 40 years​. I loved them. One was struck by the recycling truck and it split down the middle and the city had to remove it and the stump. Months later I was sent a notice by the city of SJ saying I had to trim the branch of the remaining tree to 14 ft above the street. I initially called a friend of a friend​ that had trimmed my trees previously. He told me I had to cut the tree down. I was confused as I had asked the tree person that came to cut down the first tree what he thought. He said I did not need to cut the tree down. I decided to try someone with great reviews on Yelp. I did not realize it but I requested anyone on yelp to give me a quote instead of just the person I was interested in. Mauricio​ got back to me immediately. I was confused but he said he would come out the next day. I expressed my concern as he only has two reviews and he explained he was just starting his business. I was hesitant as I had lots of trouble with the man I hired to redo my pool surface. I expressed my concern that he didn't have a license that was verified by Yelp. He immediately sent me a copy of his license. When he first texted me he was in a class. I was impressed he was furthering​ his education. He came out the next day on time, and after looking at the tree, he called an arborist​ and asked his opinion on my tree which really impressed me. Both he and the arborist felt I could still save the tree like the man from SJ City Trees Dept had said. The arborist also told him that I had some mites on the leaves and it would be a good idea to spray the leaves. Mauricio also found out what kind of tree I had (which I didn't know) and what would be the best kind of spray for my tree. He bought the spray himself and I reimbursed him. He came a few days later to trim the tree. Again he was on time and did a beautiful job. He left the branches very neatly stacked and in a way that the city was able to pick up on pick up day. I felt his​ estimate was very reasonable and fair especially for the excellent job he did. I plan on using him to spray and trim my tree on a regular basis as I know he will always be fair and do a great job. I will also use him for planting a new tree when I am ready to replace the one taken down. I even tipped him $ 40 because of the great job he did. I would not hesitate for a second having Mauricio do any work on your trees as I am sure you will be happy, too, as I am. I will later post the before and after. I wanted a 50 feet cedar oak trimmed (30%) and contacted several businesses on yelp for quotes. I went with Mauricio because he explained the process, researched on city trim requirements, and answered all my questions promptly. He also offered a reasonable and competitive price. Once he started trimming the tree, he went through the entire tree carefully from bottom to the top and identified and trimmed branches which are heavy/overgrown, about to break. We ended up trimming more than 30%, but he didn't charge me extra for the additional trim/work. He also contacted arborists during the process to make sure the tree is safe and trimmed appropriately. He also cleaned up roof and yard after the trim is complete. Overall, I found Mauricio to be hardworking, honest and prompt in service.
