We were visiting from out of town and looking for a restaurant that could accommodate my vegetarian and gluten free dietary restrictions as well as my boyfriend who has no dietary restrictions. We had stopped into several restaurants with no luck- until finding this one. They made the yellow Thai curry without meat/all veggies for me and it was delicious! The twinkly lights on the patio and friendly service really set the tone for a fun dinner and celebration! We appreciated their recommendations for service and enjoyed the history behind the eclectic menu. After seeing some mixed reviews and such a variety on the menu, I wasn't sure, but felt like it was the best bet in the area so we went when we were exploring Carmel. All the waitstaff were kind and helpful, the deck was full but we sat inside immediately. The food was very fresh and delicious. The Greek salad came with a more interesting like feta oregano vinaigrette I think it was, and it felt like a homemade simple delicious salad - which is nice while on vacation. I order the gyro appetizer to go with it, and between the pita bread that came with the salad and the gyros, I was able to make mini pitas with tzatziki and gyro meat. It felt better than chomping into a big messy gyro like typical. And it was the right amount of food. My husband got the clam chowder and the sea bass entree and was very pleased as well. Came in ahead of time and was easily able to get a table for 10. It took a long time to get waters and our orders taken for our table. We had to step outside and call a waiter into the room so that we could all get waters. Overall the ambiance and the hospitality was great. The reason we are giving two stars is for the miscalculation on our receipt for the gratuity. It shows 20%, however the actual gratuity taken out was 21.8%. We don't mind the small difference, however it is the principal of being honest and accurate on the receipt. No body does these calculations by hand anymore, so there should be no mistakes. This was actually the second print out of the receipt, and the first one had an extra chicken Alfredo, which we did not order. Overall, the food was average, the truffle mushroom ravioli was delicious, the seafood platter sauce lacked flavor, and the chicken in the Alfredo sauce was too dry. We went on a Tuesday for dinner. The host suggested outside dinning. For a restaurant that had existing outdoor dining preCovid would have more cleanliness. The tables were dirty sap. The outdoor wiring was faulty and exposed. During our meal the waiter started to dismantle the umbrellas allowing debris to come onto the table. We ordered non alcoholic drinks iced tea and Arnold Palmer(which no refills allowed). The salad came first before drinks. I order the lamb kabobs medium rare. Just looking at the kabobs they were not fresh precut frozen. Not juicy, dry and tasteless. Overall assessment the blonde giant waiter get another job. I'm allergic to yellow jackets which were flying over the food. Suggest stay away find somewhere else, board of health should re-examine their health grade and close the restaurant before someone gets severely sick. read more

I would give it a 0 stars if I could. I was humiliated and made very aware that the owner of this restaurant is racist because of my color. The Mexican waiter is what gave this business at least 1 star as he was able to accommodate me on the table I requested. When I checked in, I asked the man at the front if he could accommodate me for a table near the fence in the patio area so I can keep an eye on our dog who was in the car (Tesla- has doggy mode on for those wondering). There was no one behind me or waiting in line and I could've easily been sat at the table I had requested. He sat me at a table away from everyone else, but then once my bf who is clearly white walked in, I was then right away not questioned about being moved. The vibe I got before my bf walked in was very negative and I was uncomfortable as though I didn't fit in. Hopefully the owner can read my review and be more considerate for people of color. I ordered the Yellow Thai Curry with chicken, a cup of the Monterey Bay Clam Chowder, and my boyfriend ordered the Chicken Alfredo Pasta. My boyfriend and I loved the clam chowder. It had the right amount of salt and pepper and very flavorful. This was the freshest and hearty Yellow Thai Curry I have ever tasted. It had a hint of spice which I loved and I liked how they served the rice on the side in a creative mound. My boyfriend's pasta was so yummy too. I was kind of disappointed in his menu decision because I think pasta alfredo is so easy to make but they did a great job in his dish. The dish was decorated with the perfect amount of Parmesan and well seasoned chicken and the noodles were soft and perfect in each bite. I had sangria with my meal and thought it was refreshing. I was not going to leave a 40% tip with the change that was needed from the bill. We waited 20 minutes for change - again no owner help - I asked twice... finally gave a credit card. No masks on service people. Food was fine. Not exceptional but decent flavor. Did I mention bad service... and this was early in the evening... I can't imagine what happens later. We were finally seated outdoors at a corner where the waiters were struggling to turn on the evening lights. The menu was very confusing as it had Italian, Mediterranean and Thai choices.. We ordered the seafood pasta and chicken kabab. Both the dishes were not great. The seafood pasta sauce was very watery and barely had any seafood in it. The kebab was very dry and pilaf was very bland and lacked any flavor. The waiters did not check on us at all till the time we asked for check.. After a long long wait, we were finally seated. We had to wait more time than we were promised but it was already getting late and we were starving so we decided to stick to this restaurant. The server was struggling to find chairs for a family while we were waiting and then later he had chairs but didn't have a table. It was a funny scene! FOOD- 3 Roasted Garlic - 1 I just hated it! I love the flavor of Garlic but this was just so raw and pungent. Veggie Pasta - 3 They call it Veggie Pasta but all it really is some linguini with marinara sauce. There was hardly any veggies.
