Most of all we valued their expertise to replace 20 year- old fixtures and correctly wire in the new replacements. The bulbs and wiring had been updated more than a year ago by a premier and well-advertised, glossy Austin landscape lighting company. To our dismay, we discovered THAT previous work (two visits) was a hodgepodge of spliced high voltage wires with wire-nuts and tape up in our trees... a fire just waiting to happen! Luminary Lights know their stuff and pride themselves in executing the job properly. No shortcuts! My main point of contact was Cassie who I found to be friendly and easy to talk to. Even the guys that did the actual installs were freidnly, easy to work with and flexible with times. I had no problems in terms of customer service. However, after about a year some of the panes started fogging up, Cassie had them replaced for free under warranty. Then several more and once again they were replaced for free under warranty. As of now (2.5 years later) I have some 14 panes that are completely fogged up, unfortunately it looks like Affordable Screens and Glass has gone out of business. What sucks is I replaced a lot of panes because they were showing the initial signs of leaking (these are 20 year old panes), what I have now is significantly worse looking and did not even last 3 years.

Things…read morethat made them stand out are: excellent communication and project management (we saw our project manager Elizabeth every day and she updated our basecamp log daily with pictures), a fantastic in-house crew that showed up on time, were very tidy and considerate, and had great oversight. I should also note that during the remodel process, we were pretty covid cautious because I was pregnant and everyone wore masks and were super careful around me, which was greatly appreciated. A short anecdote that demonstrates just how detail oriented they are: RB workers installed some light bulbs in our restroom, which we thought were fine. They're light bulbs! But one of the RB co-owners, Domingo, noticed that the bulbs in our bathroom were different temperatures (one was a cool white and the other a warm), he pointed it out to us and then replaced one so both bulbs were warm whites. We've worked with other GC companies in town who promised similar things about communication and attention to detail but failed to deliver. Things go sideways on remodel projects - that's totally expected. What matters is how your contractor helps you recover and figure out a solution to move forward. I always felt that RB was available to help and super transparent with us. RB has scaled their company really well so everything still feels like a very tightly run ship. I would (and have) recommended them to friends and would love to work with them again in the future.

We hired Luxe Kitchen and Bath for several home improvements, but the quality of work was unacceptable and improperly executed: - Flooring: The original glue was not removed, and the slab was not leveled before installation. When an independent flooring inspector evaluated the work, Greg falsely claimed a moisture barrier had been installed. Luxe Kitchen and Bath later stated they let the installer go, yet Don refused to accept the inspection report and demanded an additional $5,000 to fix the issue, claiming my wife's wheelchair caused the damage. - Plumbing & Bathroom: They broke the toilet flanges and overtightened the toilet, cracking the porcelain and causing water to leak beneath the flooring. - Doors & Paint: The storm doors were not installed properly, and the wall painting was poorly executed. Throughout this process, project management and communication were virtually non-existent. Don never visited the site to inspect the work, and Greg only came when specifically requested. We received no progress updates, and Don failed to appear for the independent inspection, sending Greg and Kim instead. It is deeply unacceptable for a contractor to perform sub-standard work, refuse to take responsibility, and attempt to blame the resulting damage on a disability while demanding more money. I contacted two other companies who were unwilling to come downtown to service high quality Hunter Douglas blinds. So, when I was referred to Image Blinds, I was willing to pay their $275 service charge to come to a high-rise condo building downtown as well as their cost to repair my blinds. In other words, Image Blinds does not apply their service charge toward the repair. Total Cost: $740 - $465 for the repair plus the $275 service charge. The repair was replacing to a cord on one Hunter Douglas Pirouette blind in a bedroom and getting the living room blinds sliding again (something had broken on the top rail and they were not moving). Linda the owner and Raymond, her technician, were consistently professional, punctual, professional and competent to do the job. I had a bit of sticker shock on the costs but that was because not long ago, the cost used to be half that. Inflation perhaps. And given that Image Blinds was the only company I could find to repair my blinds, I guess that's what it costs these days.

This company fitted a retractable awning in 2021 for my property in Austin. Of note - the company…read morehad come out to check the mechanism in September 2025 as it wasn't functioning properly. The awning fixture has since catastrophically failed and is falling off the side of my house with the potential to cause serious harm given how heavy it is. Despite knowing all this information the company simply said pay us to come and check it out and we may or may not be able to do anything about it! We have since got a professional to evaluate and it was noted that the fixtures had NOT been properly performed in the first place or followed basic principles of going into the studs. Surprising it lasted that long. The owner of Ripleys did not have the courtesy or decency to directly get in touch and walk through the options. Appalling business. Perhaps stick to light weight blinds that you cant really get wrong and avoid completely for anything more technical.
