It's rare for me to do business with anyone for twenty one years, but I have been using Traverso Tree Service for that long. Scott, the estimator, has come over to our old Lafayete house and now to our current Orinda house. I trust the crew because they know how to prune all of our 20 giant oak trees verses other tree companies I have seen who just hack at the trees with no concern of the life of the trees. About ten years ago they installed cables across our one giant 300 year old oak tree to prevent the long branches from splitting the tree apart. To this day, that giant tree still stands majestically with no damage due to Traverso Tree Service care. That tree is priceless and for that I am very grateful. The crew cleans up the debris after the tree cutting and grinds up the material on site for me to take as woods chips for ground cover (you can have them take it away if you don't want it). Because these guys are concerned about safety for themselves and property, it is worth going to this reputable business. read more

I have used Traverso for at least a decade now. We had dozens of very mature trees, Birch, Monterey Pine, Magnolia, Walnut, that needed attention over the years etc. We had them come out for opinions and bidding several times prior to ever using them quite some time ago, but that never ever stopped them from being polite,informative, honest and reliable A long time ago an arborist, Scott, would come out and share their opinions and bid out. With Traverso, you really do get what you pay for. We have used their services quite a few times over the past 5 yrs for removal and pruning, their prices have been extremely competitive as I often get at least 3 competitive bids. Scheduled appmts and work are reliable, and the clean up great. Great office staff with a great ear (Danielle maybe laughing since we postponed a tree removal and pruning 2-3 times over a year). Like any business that is busy, sometimes I have had to call back for followup on a question that I needed answer. These folks know their stuff, and how to remove trees or prune safely (eg near power lines etc). read more

Can you imagine working with some neighbor watching you and threatening to shoot you with a 357? Treverso Tree 5 member crews did without ever replying...I am more than satisfied with the work done on my trees by TTS. Your crew was professional. Praise to your foreman and the men on the job for their diligence. They were courteous in the face of threatening verbal abuse from a neighbor and avoided conflict. The neighbor called the police and posted unkind remarks on Yelp regarding your company. When the police arrived to interview and document the incident, it was clear there was no trespassing or damage to his property. Of course, he was not there when the police arrived, but the officer was familiar with the "complaining disturbed" neighbor. The job was finished as promised on the work order. Traverso just pruned a large valley oak for me. The four man crew was on time, very professional, very courteous, worked quickly and left the place cleaner than when they got there. Part of the trimmings fell on a neighbors yard and they had given the neighbor courtesy notice that they were going to be doing the work when they arrived. The neighbors yard was left immaculate. We've used Traverso twice and plan to use them again in the near future. The first time was to remove two trees in our front yard and trim a third. John and his crew are great to work with. We had them remove a 300 year old Valley Oak that had fallen in our yard. John had all of his guys out working on the job. His guys worked quickly to remove the majority of the large tree (including what was on our roof). We will never be able to thank him enough for the work they did. John came out and gave me an estimate for a large trim job throughout my yard plus a few larger trees. It seems the employees had a different idea as they cut a tiny branch here and another one there, leaving all but one tree looking like very little if anything got done. I called to ask when they were coming back to finish and was told they were done. Then I was told they didn't have time to return to finish and suggested I call another tree service. ??? WTF! I am still almost a year later very disappointed in the job they claim to have done especially at the considerable cost I got a bill for. Watch out and make sure you stay to watch what they do as they do itand make sure they do what you want done. Or when you get home you might be in for a big surprise, like I got. They will do as little as possible and charge as much as the customer can handle. I wish I had never hired them in the first place. read more

I must say Traveras tree service was one of the best experiences I have had with a contracted service. On all accounts they were excellent. Gave a reasonable cost estimate compared to others , came on time , worked efficiently , cleaned up without asking. Adhered to small requests I had like sawing up some of the tunk to fireplace size for me to keep. Most of all, after I pointed out to them that there was a dent in the railing on my deck from a falling tree part, the very next day they sent someone over to replace the damaged plank with the same redwood the rest of the deck was made of. read more

On 3/24/2016, Traverso Tree Service removed one Pittosporum tree (about 25' high) and an 18" diameter shamel ash tree (about 70+ feet high). Work also included grinding stumps on both trees after removal. Workers included a crew of 5 people, and started at approx. 8:45 pm and completed at approx. 1 pm. Cleaned up thoroughly including removing any leaves that got in the pool. This is the third time I have used Traverso, and each time have had excellent service. We had two large oak trees, I called for an estimate, they came out gave me a decent quote and had good ideas on how to shape the tree and not cut it way back like others did. Their trees look bad. When the cutters showed up they were on time did a very good job and cleaned up so well it did not look like anyone ever showed up. They referred us to John Traverso, and we are very glad they did. John is a certified master arborist. He is highly experienced, knows everything about all kinds of trees and he has a gift for knowing just what each tree needs. John and team expertly completed a large job for us in the Oakland hills, tree removal and tree and shrub pruning front and down a steep back yard. The results were spectacular. John supervised the project and did some of the pruning himself. We met some of his team members, who were incredibly professional and skilled. I mentioned this to John, who said they were carefully trained. This was evident. The tree removals were accomplished perfectly (with stump grinding).
