Finding a Michelin Bib Gourmand wherever I travel has become one of my favorite things to do…read more Trippa in Milan's Porta Romana neighborhood is a classic example of why I do this. Outstanding food for reasonable prices. Reservations are required and this place fills up fast. Tables open on the first of the month for the following month only. I snagged a bar seat, which if my preference when I am a solo diner. You are right in the middle of the action and it never feels lonely. The menu changes daily based on what is at the market. I was there in the summer and asked the staff for a recommendation (something I always do when I eat alone). They pointed me toward a salad I would not have ordered on my own. It was a mix of arugula-style greens with beet and watermelon that hit sweet, savory, and salty all at once. The chicken with fresh peaches was equally great. Everything tasted like it belonged together on the plate. Then the panna cotta. This was the grand finale. Easily the best I have ever had. Smooth and creamy with that texture that is just barely set, still a little loose. It came with what I believe was a grape must sauce and I am still thinking about it.

What went right were the reservations. What went wrong was it was the first day and my phone was not recharged and my companions took the photos. Went straight from plane to hotel to restaurant. What can I say but the service, tableside prep to food... the whole atmosphere was so perfect. Knew I'd like it and if I had known better I would have eaten all my dinners there. There's Italian Pasta and then there is Trippa. Hope all those who visit for the Olympics get a chance to eat here and enjoy. A meal of a lifetime. Simple things in life need to be appreciated. The conchetta was quite dry and bland. Just a thin pork cutlet breaded that needed salt and/or a dipping sauce. And by the bone, still very raw. I informed the server, but they just dismissed me and said it's normal. Is it really normal to serve raw pork?? For it being their "signature dish", I was hoping for it to be better. Risotto was al dente and pretty good. We got 2 portions but when serving, we saw them save a portion for a table that didnt order any risotto. Nice, for that table. but it seems like we didn't get the full 2 portions.

If you're in Milan on vacation and are staying near the Duomo, I highly recommend checking out…read moreRisoelatte - it is such a FUN & UNIQUE restaurant, and the food was so good! We had heard the restaurant was a "must-see" from some friends of ours who recommended the restaurant during our stay in Milan so we couldn't wait to check it out. When we walked into the restaurant, we were immediately amazed by the unique atmosphere of the restaurant, you really feel like you stepped back in time to the 1960's. The entire restaurant was so unique, fun, and colorful. From the retro mint blue colored walls to the old school diner tables with red leather cushioned chairs, to the dining room set inside a recreation of a retro 1960's kitchen, to the clothes lines hanging from the ceiling with granny panties and vintage clothes hanging off them - you can't help but be amazed by all the details incorporated in the décor of the restaurant. Our table was small booth table under an open window with red checkered window covers on it, in a corner of the restaurant, and the cool breeze coming in from the window was really refreshing. For our date night, this place was a cute place to go to. Besides the fun retro atmosphere, the food was delicious, and the service was fantastic. Once of our favorite dishes you absolutely MUST TRY is the Risotto Con Ossobuco - it was one of the best dishes we had in all of Milan. Another favorite dish of ours was the pesto sauce pasta, we really enjoyed it. It was full of flavor and the pasta was fresh and homemade. It was delicious as well! The service at Risoelatte was excellent, everyone took excellent care of us during our entire meal. From the moment we arrived everyone was so welcoming, and the server took her time to explain the menu, make recommendations, and made great suggestions for menu items we should try. We were never rushed or hurried which was nice, we were able to take our time to enjoy the food, and the company of one another, and enjoyed a great date night. Overall, we had a great time dining at Risoelatte, the food was delicious, and we absolute loved the fun atmosphere of the restaurant. If you're looking for a unique dining experience with great food, I highly recommend making a reservation and checking out this hidden gem in Milan. We look forward to returning to Risoelatte on our next trip to Milan.

Heard great things online, recommend by chatGPT and booked a reservation…read more Small place, friendly service, but time limit on the table, so if the service is a bit slow, you might be mid dessert and you're being asked to leave when the next party has arrived. Not a big deal, they let you know there is a time limit, but maybe they should keep the service flowing so that doesn't happen. The interior decorator here did a great job with the time warp back to the mid 20th century. Cool vibe. Food was ok. Perhaps using old recipes from the time period is not so good for a tourist? I wasn't really impressed with the food, but I don't have a cultural link to Milanese food to begin with, so I don't think I was fully able to appreciate it. If my grandmother made this when i was a kid, perhaps it would have been better, but the meal was lost on me. There are plenty of spots to grab a good meal, I'd only recommend this place if you have a fond memory of the menu items or you really want to time travel and post to social media.

We stumbled across this restaurant in search of vegetarian food in an area where we realized options were limited and were very warmly welcomed in. The decor of the restaurant was beautiful as it had a lovely lavender theme and was classy and spacious. The owners were very accommodating and gladly suggested some vegetarian options for our family of five. The bread and chilli oil starter was fresh and tasty and was an incredible preview of the dishes that were to come. We started off with vegetarian pizza which was incredible...having had pizza so often during our trip we were blown away by how delicious this vegetarian pizza was. And just when we thought nothing could top the pizza out came another incredible dish - a mushroom and zucchini risotto. Each dish was a marvel and yet again the owner/chef presented us with another outstanding dish - pear and cheese ravioli with poppy seeds. Each dish danced on our taste buds sending waves of euphoric delight. We ended the meal with tiramisu and coffee - which we agreed was the best we ever had. The authenticity and sincerity of the owners/chefs shines through their food. They really put their heart into each dish. The owner was kind and stopped by to create some banter. Thank you thank you thank you to the owners for making this culinary excursion a memory we will forever cherish not only of our time in Milan but our entire stay in Europe! Wish you continued success in creating everlasting memories in creating food with emotion

I couldn't leave without trying what Milan is known for, their Milanese risotto and also pasta. I was originally going to go to Risoelatte based off Yelp reviews but they were fully booked for the day and I had to catch a plane in an hour so I walked down the street to Locatelli Milano and I'm so glad I did! Everyone was Italian and dressed impeccably in perfect fitting suits and each person had a glass of wine with their lunch on the table. There were no other tourists there (except for me). I ordered two first courses (which the waiter double checked and said, "Sorry, excuse me. So you want TWO first courses?" I said "YES!") and got a crispy saffron risotto and spaghetti with uni and black garlic. JUST AMAZING! I will never be able to eat risotto in NYC (where I'm from) ever again.

Usually we would never stand in line for food/drinks but I really wanted to try this place and so we decided to gave it a few minutes to see how the line was moving. This was worth the 20-25 minute wait (especially since most of the area was shaded... had it not been I know we would have decided on a plan B). We were told our table was on the second floor so headed up the cute narrow staircase in the back where we were immediately greeted by the servers up there. I loved how all the servers greeted you as you walked through the restaurant. Loved the ambiance upstairs too with the brick walls, balcony windows open and the fairy-lights intertwined with branches covering the ceiling. Red checkered tablecloths covered all of the tables and it was very cozy (tight). We ordered the set lunch. The starter, main plus side runs 25 Euros. The main plus side was I think 17 or 18 Euros? They have a limited menu so everything came out quickly (maybe 3 minutes after our server took our order)? Honestly this was a lot of food... we ended up taking one whole main dish to go since my husband and son both got the coteletta (Milanese pork chop) and we all ended up sharing with each other. I got the porchetta and it was so rich and flavorful. The grilled veggies and the roasted potatoes were also excellent. My son thought his salad was a bit too salty for his taste though. The tiramisu served in a mug was very delicious. When we asked for the check we were told we were table 15. We were a bit confused but ended up getting clarification that we were to tell the cashier downstairs our table number in order to check out at the register. Overall we had a lovely lunch!
