Then more frustrations, steak did not deliver- half is all ligaments- inedible.- photos attached. We tried to eat whatever we can. This resto placed Firenze down. We had a good melt in your mouth steak 2days ago in Santo Ispirito- the moment i sliced it- i know it's a very good one. My steak at home is way more tender than this one. One of the best meals I have had while in Italy. Found this restaurant through a recommendation of staff from the hotel we stayed at which is just steps away from this restaurant. We wanted to try Florentine steak while we were in Florence of course just to see what's so special about it. Glad we tried coz it didn't disappoint. When in Florence you must try the Florentine steak! We were a group of 5 and opted for 2 kilos of the chianina cut. It came out and a sizzling plate and was served rare to medium rare. The flavor was delicious and it was just seasoned with salt. For our sides, we ordered the peas with ham and onions, spinach salad with mozzarella and lime, grilled veggies and roasted potatoes. Everything was incredible! But I actually loved the peas. They were so good and such a surprise since I'm not big on peas. We went on a day trip to Florence last August when we visited Rome. Ate at this establishment for dinner as we waited for our train back to Rome. Food was absolutely delicious. We had a Tuscan soup, sausage pasta with burata cheese and truffle, pappardelle with wild boar sauce, and a ribeye. All amazing, but the sausage pasta with burata cheese and truffle was the best. I made a reservation for this restaurant at around 11am before going that night and had no problem getting a spot! If you make a reservation within a certain time frame, you get a discount! I want to say it's before 7pm but I'm not 100% sure. I got the florentine steak with and it was absolutely amazing. It was one of the best steaks I've ever had! The truffle pasta was also amazing. I didn't realize there were multiple locations of this place when I made the reservation so maybe this location isn't their best one... Service was sort of non existent and they forgot our appetizer (that came with my husband's meal)and a side we ordered. It was hard to get water refills or even place the order. Other tables seemed frustrated too. The strange thing is one family (who I think knew someone who worked there) got 5 star service.... That being said, the steak was bland and just blah. While a great deal for €25 as it came with water, wine, an appetizer of crostini's, a side dish of potatoes, and a steak (for 1) - it was just blah. I got the roast fish for €18 which they deboned and served table side that was surprisingly tender and flavorful. I'm not sure how this restaurant made the top 101 best steak restaurants. The steak was mediocre at best and the entire menu was over priced. The Florentine t-bone had no flavor, the filet was just okay, and the ribeye left much to be desired. The pasta was way too salty to even be eaten. I had a much better steak at Mercato Centrale. The server was not pleasant. We got an eye roll every time we asked for something to include menu interpretation. The menu isn't easy to understand at all. The restaurant was nice, strange choice in music though. I didn't expect to hear Will Smith's "getting jiggy with it" at one of the "best steak restaurants" in the world. Pass this one up. Waiter was useless, specifically asked that our Florentine t-bone be medium rare and not blood rare. That didn't happen. Other tables had their steak brought to the table before cooking. Not us. Absolutely amazing evening- we spent 3 hours enjoying our dinner on our last night in Florence. Our waiter Marco was awesome. The menu is a bit confusing with all different types of steak- Marco expertly guided us thru it. He made a suggestion that we go with the certified local beef ( after clearly explaining the differences) and we followed his guidance. I had a small bottle of a wonderful Bolgheri red, while my husband had a few local beers. We ordered a mixed green salad, a 1.2 kilo steak and fries. I was concerned as Florentine Bistecca is served rare~ and I don't eat meat that red. Marcos said it would be served on a hot stone so mine could cook a bit longer to my liking - that was perfect. The steak was delicious- tender and lightly seasoned. The wine was amazing and we had a lovely desert wine to finish the meal. We were recommended to dine here in Italy, including the raving reviews this restaurant has seen, however, I believe our first mistake was this is a chain steakhouse within Florence, which is a red flag, even internationally. Upon being seated, our waiter (Marco) didn't come to remotely greet us for around 5-10 minutes. I was under the impression he had more than 5 tables or was cooking the meals, but that wasn't the case. From the moment the waiter touched down at our table, I could sense he wasn't happy we weren't Italian, yet Americans, as locals came in and out of the restaurant, they received white gloves service from beginning to end. I ordered the MENU BISTECCA- STEAK MENU, comes with the following for 25,00 which seemed like a good deal: (recommendation from server as their specialty) Crostini misti Rib roast steak (medium) Patate al forno o insalata mista Baked potatoes 0.37 cl water and 1⁄2 bottle of win Soon after ordering, the wine and water immediately arrived. Roughly 20 minutes later, the food comes out, now just my steak alone. Didn't receive the crostini or potatoes and I had to ask the server of the food, not the waiter. Both were brought out immediately afterwards. The crostini is an appetizer and if the waiter would have stopped accommodating the locals, he would have cared to assist us, along with the other tables that weren't locals. Also, he forgot about the side with the steak that comes with the meal. The steak was supposed to be cooked medium, unfortunately it was medium well to well done. I was tempted to send it back, but given the circumstances of our dining experience already, I was just going to deal with it. Bottom line, I don't know what the fuss is about this place as it's not anything to cry home about. Maybe this just a bad dining experience or maybe this restaurant has peeked. I'd stick to the the long line of authentic Italian restaurants while in Florence and skip this dining experience altogether. read more

For our first meal in Florence, it was alright. We had no idea where to eat and just wandering around the neighborhood near our hotel which was right across the street from the train station. There's a nice patio outside, but there's also noise from the street to deal with. We ordered the spaghetti with meatballs and a diavola pizza to share, and a bottle of wine. The pasta was cooked perfectly al dente and had a flavorful sauce. The little meatballs were good too. The crispy crust pizza held up against the sauce, though it wasn't as spicy as I thought it could've been. Service was attentive. The location of Via degli Orti Oricellari was a nightmare. This establishment was not managed well at all. My party of 5 were given poor service by the waitstaff, who were not attentive, rude, and sketchy. The menu is not very concise, so we asked questions to our waiter about the menu which seemed to be an annoyance, and we were graced with enlightening responses of "I don't know" or a blank stare. Our table was tossed around by multiple waiters and staff, which was confusing to not only us but them, causing them to mess up our orders and bringing out each meal 20-30 minutes in between each persons meal, leaving us to enjoy our meals in solidarity instead of eating as a whole. The waiters were arguing with each other over the mistakes that were made with our party, so unprofessional to see waiters throwing receipts at each others. Although the food was good, the experience ruined all redeeming qualities of the food. Also while having this poor service experience they charged a service fee and 2 bottles of wine when we only ordered one, we had proof of having one wine cork, which justified that they were sketchy and trying to take advantage of us. read more

We ate here back in March 2019. This place is so good. I had the steak and my girlfriend had the seafood pasta. Both were excellent. I wish that I lived in Florence so I could try everything on the menu. 2 entrees and drinks came to less than $60 usd. They also have group steaks for 5-6 people. They cook a big slab of meat to rare and then the people at the table slice off a bit and cook it to their liking right at their table. They also offer a full wine list.
