    Seafood pasta, delicious

Amazing food and atmosphere. The best pasta I have yet to have. A must visit. Waiters were extremely friendly.

The risotto is why you come here. It's creamy, al dente and fresh. Tried the razor clams to start and they were very good - a little grit in some but most didn't have any. The orata was fresh and flaky. The waiter deboned the fish almost like a show. Service was friendly, but keep in mind they charge you for eating the bread. And the server may ask you for a cash tip at the. End of the meal. I ate here a dozen years ago and the risotto is still the best I have ever eaten. We sat inside on a hot day (definitely make a reservation ahead of time if you can) and the AC was great. There is a wall of photos near the restroom of all the famous people who have been there.

I first heard and saw Trattoria da Romano on Anthony Bourdain's "No Reservations." I was immediately entranced by the melodic creation of the risotto, as it danced up and down inside the sauce pan. After a previous trip which I planned poorly and only allotted a day, I came back with my family this past summer (June 2023). I was not disappointed. It was literally one of the best meals I've ever eaten. We had the seafood risotto, grilled fish, calamari and so many other dishes. It was all amazing. My very picky 12 year old even enjoyed it

Food: 4 star Service: 3 star This is in the Main Street of Burano, a LOT of tourists. Our tour guide recommend this is a reliable seafood place so we decided to give it a try. There was no one when we arrived but they said they are full, took couple minutes to came back seat us on the very side of the table. The service was a bit odd, they gave us menu and check back very soon to take order when we were not ready. Then when really need them they were MIA. Food is pretty pricy compare to other places nearby but at least they are fresh. Nothing special on the mix grill seafood.

Once again, reservations are a MUST in Venice. Came here at recommendation of our guide as it's one of the oldest and best restaurants in Burano, which was reflected in the pricing. Overall fantastic - we were hesitant at first at pricing thinking we were paying for a name, but the food turned out to be very good. Started with shrimp appetizer before moving on to a sizable portion of Linguine al Mare. Sauce was great, nice mussels and clams. Most of the clams were very small and made me think this dish is better suited for chopsticks. Good food, good service, recommended.

An absolute must if you are a fan of risotto! It's worth taking a boat trip out to Burano for. My fiancé and I both agreed that this was probably the best risotto we've ever had. Thanks to Anthony Bourdain's recommendation on no reservations. We got the risotto, 1/2 a pitcher of wine, and an octopus appetizer costs us around €75. So it was on the pricer side for a lunch. Be aware that the bread of basket sitting on the table is not complimentary (for those Americans like us) and there is a dine in charge of €3. Overall, great service!

Romano signature fish stock risotto also highly raved by Anthony Bourdain - min. two person €42/2

I will admit one of the reasons choosing Romano was because of Anthony Boudain. The other reason was because Venice was the only stop (last stop of the trip) I didn't and too tired researching for restaurants. Upon arrival, we walked right into the restaurant and wisely, we made a reservation in advance. The restaurant was fully booked (tables with "reserve" tents on top) and I saw the manager turned down every single walk-ins. Although we were obvious tourists, we were treated nicely through out our meal. Friendly service and attentive for the most part. We ordered the shellfish appetizer, squid ink pasta, and fish risotto that Boudain raved about plus couple desserts. I thought the portion was just right. -The mussels and clams appetizer was delicious! We dipped the bread into the broth and finished every bit of it, can't go to waste! -The squid ink pasta was on point, not fishy at all. -The fish risotto was tasty, though a bit bland and lacking some depth. I felt it could use a bit more freshly reduced fish stock so the risotto absorbed all the goodness of the sea and give that touch of ocean taste as you savor the rice. We asked about dessert and the waiter named a few but we weren't sure what they were since he spoke them in Italian. Then out came the cart of sweetness as he rolled it out to our table! -The hazelnut tart is one of the traditional pastries in the Northern region. The tart was baked entirely in just that, hazelnuts. Not my favorite as it is too grainy for my taste but nonetheless, the couple bites I had didn't taste overly sweet. -The meringue creme cake (similar to a baked Alaska) was my favorite. It was definitely sweeter than the hazelnut tart but I like the smooth creaminess of the cake. To each their own, the desserts were a perfect end to our meal at Romano. Bottom line: I didn't feel it was overly priced given the location and the name it made by Boudain. I knew going to this restaurant expecting it could be a tourist trap and probably more costly than those that didn't have Bourdain's name attached to it. At the end, I was pleasantly surprised that both service and food were better than expected so really no complaints. If you don't really care about the fame of this restaurant nor the desire to taste the fish risotto that Bourdain loved so much, I think it probably better going to another restaurant on the island so not to be disappointed. Tips: -Make reservation -Bread basket on the table costs money as in many other restaurants in Italy -Table/service charge is common though not all restaurants do that but do expect the more touristy restaurants do -Extra tip isn't mandatory

This place is great. Get here early so you can get a table outside bc it fills up. The view of the town square of the restaurant is lovely on a warm day.

Fresh tasty seafood, beautiful restaurant, well dressed servers, great menu that'll have you wishing for three stomachs so you can try it all. It takes about 45 minutes to ferry from Venice to Burano, and from the ferry terminal it is only a short 5 minutes walk. The reason I am not giving them 5 stars is as follows: 1. The food is overpriced. They do it because they can. It's a historic building. The restaurant is well known. The food is excellent. The service was the best I had experienced up to this point in Italy. But an espresso all over Italy is usually 1 euro, here it was 2.5 euro. Lunch for two people, with 3 drinks, cost $160 USD. Then factor in the ferry costs and tip it was a $250 lunch. Speaking of tipping... 2. Our waiter actually ASKED US TO TIP. Not so directly but he pointed out that there was no cover or service charge in the bill and that "it was a nice lunch with a nice waiter." He did it jovially but did it nonetheless. We would've tipped over 20% if he hadn't said anything, we still did even though he said something, but d*mn it, manners, man. Don't ask for a tip. It's tacky.

The food was great here, but we felt the service had a lot to be desired. We travel to Italy as often as possible and overall, feel like we're treated like family the majority of the time. Here we got the "You're the unwanted Americans" vibe. On top of that, the service charge on top of the coperto did not sit right with me. Almost 93 Euro for lunch is awfully steep, when we didn't even have the opportunity to order dessert. Burano is gorgeous and next time we're here, I can't wait to try out one of the other Michelin Star restaurants that are on the waterfront!

Looking for a place to sit and cool off for a bit with some good food as a bonus this place did not dissapoint, there was no line to be seated most places we were told a couple of hours for a table! Stumbled upon this place as the overall reviews were good, found out after we got home Anthony Bourdain had been here and had recomendations wish we had known as one of us would have tried it as we were fans of the late Bourdain ;( We were quicky greeted and seated inside per our request, offered some cold water and a menu to which we settled upon speghetti bolognese (I wanted to do some comparison reviews and am not a seafood lover) and the seabass. Both of our meals were top notch and perfectly plated, the seabass was 'prepared' table side where the bones (most of them at least) were removed and then the flesh replated before serving. Staff was always available and present without intrusion and was an overall great experience that we were pleased we had attended.

Most likely the best risotto I've ever tried. Perfectly rich, creamy and al dente. In fact, we came back here a second time during our stay in Venice, just to make sure we don't miss out on anything. The first time we got the cuttlefish risotto and the second time it was the house special (Goh risotto, aka Romano), as recommended by Anthony Bourdain's show. He's the first source of info I turn to whenever I'm about to travel abroad, and so far he's been spot on with his suggestions. Both of the risotto dishes were Also got a combo platter of fried calimari and veggies. Pretty good, but nothing out of this world. I won't lie though, this ain't the cheapest grub you can find in Venice. A risotto for two, fried appetizer, and a pitcher of wine set us back €84. There's a cover charge of €3 per person, which apparently you can avoid by eating their bread -- but don't do it! If you eat their bread, it'll cost you €18 per person! How any of this makes sense is beyond me. My suggestion is just come here, get the risotto and a wine, and be on your way.

The star of the show however was the grilled branzino with a side of olives & tomatoes. The fish itself melts in your mouth and the olive oil was a perfect touch. The calamari was probably the best calamari I have ever had as it wasn't too greasy and was perfectly cooked. The flavors are unmatched & I hope this restaurant gets more recognition it deserves.
