    Seafood pasta

This restaurant in the heart of Burano was part of a group dinner we selected as part of our Italian Tour. The food was flavorful and portion sizes were large. The owner took care of our dietary requests (including no dairy in the risotto for some of our party), and was so friendly with our kids. The staff speak English as well, which is a plus. We ended up with a Prix Fixe menu and enjoyed the pasta dish with clams, Risotto, and also their fish. The kids enjoyed pasta with meat sauce as well. The bread was standard. We sat in a dining room off to the side of the main restaurant and it was a nice private space without a lot of foot traffic. It was also nice and quiet (not a loud or rowdy place), so we could enjoy our dinner and conversation. The restroom facilities were clean and well maintained and the location was right off a main square, where you could get to the colorful houses and small shops easily. PROS: Friendly staff and owner, English speaking, flavorful and plenty of food. CONS: Burano is not actually in Venice, so you have to take a boat to get here. BOTTOM LINE: I'd go back to try some of the selections off the regular menu. Our Prix Fixe menu was great, but I am sure there are other awesome selections here. We hope to be back again next time we're in Venice!

Based on the location on the map, I believe this is the place we went to for drinks in Burano. It was close to the leaning campanile, an Italian flag, and a bust which my husband took a picture near. We had about 50 minutes before our boat tour left, so we got a quick drink and then sprinted to take some colorful pictures. We got our drinks fast. The waiter was quick and gave us our bill quick. We ordered a negroni and americano. Both were extremely strong, but we drank them and were not drunk, so success!

Cafe' Vecio Trattoria is an absolutely perfect restaurant to have lunch on Burano Island. I'd highly recommend making reservations for a late lunch on the patio if it isn't too warm. I have a friend who went there on my recommendation earlier this month and it was way too warm to sit on the patio, but they have tables inside. Also, when you make reservation make sure you ask them if they have the shrimp risotto. It was amazing and one of the best things I've had. My friend tried to order it earlier this month and they didn't have it. They also have a spaghetti marinara with clams that is wonderful. Everything I had there was fabulous from the multiple courses to the bussola di burano canal shaped cookies that you dip in wine for dessert. They also sell the cookies. See my photo of the package my friend just brought back. The service was amazing when we were here. The waiters were so cheerful and humorous. They brought the courses on big family style platters, so you could get seconds if you wanted them. Here is a little information on Burano. It is not to be confused with Murano where they have all the glass making factories and showrooms. Burano is a quaint little fishing village island. All the homes are on canals with bridges, so there's no cars. Personally, I think Burano is a great place to go shopping if you want to save some money on glass jewelry items. In order to get to Burano you need to take one of the vaporettos and it takes about 30 to 40 minutes to get there. Check out the photos and don't forget to make a reservation if you decide to go.

On a warm day in Burano, Italy, and after some sightseeing, we wanted to stop for a late lunch and of course a cocktail. Burano is a colorful fishing island among the Venetian Lagoon so seafood was a must. We made our way to the Piazza Galuppi, named after Baldassare Galuppi (1706 - 1785), an italian composer born on the island. At the Piazza Galuppi you will find a statue of Galuppi in the main square, the Museo del Merletto or Lace Museum, the leaning tower and Cafe Vecio Trattoria. Try the fish platter. It was fantastic as you would expect. And, an Aperol Spritz.

Exelent service! Food was delicious too. The Owner was very friendly and kind. He was making sure all the costumers were treating right and the food was as they were expecting it. We also had a very nice conversation with him. It was our first time and if I ever back in Venezia I'll go back to his restaurant. Food quality was Outstanding!

Seafood Risotto (it might just be shrimp risotto though)

The seafood is served in a cracker bowl which is both super sustainable and a fun way to eliminate waste. The service was so nasty toward the tourists that I was really close to stepping away from the venue during the initial interaction. But we were tired from a long day of exploring and were opting for something more casual before heading on the ferry back. Prices for the dishes aren't exactly cheap. For a pile of seafood and a drink I believe the cost was close to 20 euros. Overall, if you can go to another spot that offers fresher fritto misto you might be able to enjoy it and have a better experience than this location.

I bought a water because the kitchen was closed. The man that I spoke to was pretty rude. My mother also needed to use the bathroom. While she was in there and the worker saw her go in there he proceeded to start banging on the door after her being in there for 1 minute. Because of the worker banging on the door my mother peed everywhere. NOT COOL! RUDE PEOPLE WORK HERE! Water bottle was good that's why the 2 stars not 1.

So glad I didn't dismiss this place! The Gnocchi scampi was absolutely delicious! The vegetables (yellow peppers and zucchini) were perfectly cooked i.e not too soft and not too crispy where the flavor is overpowering, and shrimps that were so fresh, you swear they were caught in the moment. Finally, it had the perfect amount of sauce and olive oil bringing it all together for a perfect blend of flavoring. I damn nearly licked the plate (no seriously, I took all the bread from the breadbasket and wiped that plate clean!). My friend had the margarita pizza with French fries which was a unique combination for the eyes lol, but he enjoyed it. Lastly, I had a glass of Sauvignon Blanc which was nice and fruity, while he had a beer. Nothing to brag about here. The place is small when you walk in but they have additional seating up stairs and outside (beware! Like all restaurants in Venice, they charge and extra fee to sit outside) Service was very friendly and fast. Overall I would definitely recommend you stop here if you end up on Burano island.
