I cannot recommend Ai Cacciatori highly enough - superb food, lovely but unfussy experience, great service. I went for dinner with a girlfriend who had already spent some time living in Venice and was wowed by the squid ink pasta with clams. My friend is a huge lasagna fan - me, not so much, but I tried her dish and was so blown away that I insisted we go back the next day so I could order the lasagna too! It's that good. read more

Patrons Beware! While the food is good, Cacciatori is well aware that most of its customers are tourists. Consequently, when it is time to pay for the meal, the servers assume that those customers automatically want to pay in their home country's currency. On the night we ate there, the server took our credit card and immediately charged our card in U.S. dollars, without even asking if we were from the U.S. This act enabled Cacciatori to make more money off the exchange rate. We would have absolutely preferred to pay in euros. A credible establishment should ask the customers whether they wish to pay in euros. Giving the consumer the option of what currency to use is the standard procedure throughout Europe. It is sad that Cacciatori did not follow this practice with us. read more

This place is fantastic! We were seated within 5 minutes, even though all tables were taken. I think the staff brought extra tables from inside the restaurant to get us seated, which was amazing. We got a spot right next to the water, and it was just perfect. The food was delicious, we got pastas and the fish of the day (grilled seabass, really flavorful). We are in Venice just for one day, but if we stayed here longer, we would eat here again. read more

Came recommended by the concierge at the Waldorf and the food was great. Pretty setting next to the canal with great views of San Marco and Venice. We split and order of the traditional sardo which are served with pickled onions. They were light and not fishy at all. We also split the tuna tartar which was one of the best I've had, super fresh and perfectly dressed. For our entrees we had the squid ink pasta, shrimp and calamari misto, swordfish steak and spaghetti a la vongole. All were wonderful and full of flavor. This was all accompanied by a reasonably priced and very delicious Friuliano Bianco. Service and prices were both very good. read more

The service is exceptional! We were able to get reservations for 8 PM. The dining room only seats about 26 and it looks recently renovated with new flooring, white walls (instead of old brick I saw from their website photos), white table linen (very classy) and well-lit (perhaps a tad too bright to dining). The food was delicious - fresh, served at the right temperatures and satisfying portions. A bit heavy salted for this diner's tastes, but wonderfully tasty. The servers are friendly, attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. Wonderful dining experience worth a repeat should we ever return to this side of the canal in Venice! read more

Fabulous!!! This place was great. We are staying at the Hilton and they suggested it. Great suggestion. The place is a quaint restaurant right on the main canal, so the scenery is awesome. The server suggested an aperol spritz cocktail that was awesome. I had a wine from Tuscany that was also great. We started with the Baccala, a salted dry cod. OMG. Fabulous. Then we had the calamari and prawn plate. So full of flavor. As a bonus, it came with a couple of sardines. So good. The dishes came with polenta that was also great. We found this restaurant come up well reviewed in our searches, and decided to visit since it was so close to the hotel we were staying in. Glad to say we weren't disappointed at all! The place is open late, and thankfully, didn't need a reservation either as we visited during the off-peak season. My wife had the baked chicken and grilled vegetables, and I had the pasta with pesto sauce and calamari, and all of them were amazing! This was going to be our last meal during our Italy trip this year, and we are so glad we finished the trip on a high note! The price was decent, the service is prompt, the water is free of charge (which is truly hard to find in Italy), and the food is delicious. What's not to like? La Guidecca is such a great escape from the crowds of the main part of Venice, and this restaurant sits on the waterfront, so is a beautiful location, as well! The service was impeccable! They made us feel like family! We ended up going here all three nights we were here for dinner and were impressed every time! The grilled calamari with pumpkin cream and amaretto sauce is a must try, although all of the pastas we tried were superb! The prices are very reasonable for the Venice area! read more

Our favorite meal in Venice! We were waited on by a fun group of guys. The restaurant was right on the bank of Giudecca, across from the bustle of Venice island. Our appetizer tuna tartare was mouth-watering, lightly seasoned and well-balanced. My Bigoli was simple yet so fresh and bursting with flavors, same with my friend's seafood risotto. There were so many other dishes we wanted to try on the menu. But we had to save room for refreshing proseccos that we ordered rounds of as we watched the sun set over Venice on another beautiful late summer day. Oh and do get a dessert! Any dessert! WOW I loved this place so much I went back twice in two days. The location is perfect, far far away from the hustle and bustle of the centre, yet just one ferry stop away. The restaurant has a wonderful terrace with amazing views over Venice. I loved their Venetian style fare, the polentas, the spaghetti in cuttlefish ink sauce, the scallops with green pea puree, the fried cuttlefish. Simply excellent. Sunset on the water in Venice. A table for two outside right at the edge of the water. Wine chilling, the lights across the canal coming on as night falls, attentive waitstaff, wonderful risotto. A pretty perfect evening. There are just so many restaurants to choose from in Venice. We wanted one away from the tourist area, so we came here. It is located on Giudecca with fabulous views. Less hustle and bustle than anything near St. Marks which pleased us greatly. We took the Vaporetto over from our hotel and walked over a few bridges to the restaurant. Easy to get to and find. We had an excellent meal here! There were six of us seated at a charming table overlooking the canal. We started either the bruschetta - delicious with lots of fresh tomato and garlic! I had the gnocchi with a lovely grilled prawn on top. Others had the lasagna, spaghetti with clams, pesto pasta with calamari, and risotto with shrimp. Service was delightful-hope to return soon! Well rated on yelp we were expected nice Italian food. I wanted to order the risotto with scallops, however only available for two, which was not mentioned on the menu. So we both ordered pasta with tuna - it was very nice. Secondi piatti were a beef overcooked (not asked for cooking) and blandly presented with tired salad leafs, the black squid was tender, but served in a poorly presented manner. The classic tiramisu had way too much cocoa powder on. Just too sloppy I must say . Service was quick, well organized and paid attention, so much appreciated that! read more

I came here asking for 2 bottles of frizzante water - and they explained that they use a home-bottling system so they could only give me their own glassware. Because we're staying right near by, I asked on a whim if I could borrow it. They asked the manager who surprisingly said yes! So I added two desserts to the order, and had the best tiramisu that I've had in all of Italy, and the creme brulee was exquisite. We ate it upstairs in our bed, and half and hour later I gathered the dishes up in dish towels and brought then back down. Great price, obviously over-the-top service, and a great vibe to the place. I was told to try this restaurant while visiting. We arrived at 730 on a Saturday with no reservation. They said they could sit us until they had a reservation coming in at 9. The place was small but cozy. We ordered pretty shortly after sitting. We ordered an appetizer however 5 minutes later our meals were being served. No appetizer was brought. I asked and they said we never ordered one. The food was amazing, service was ok but I felt rushed. We were out by 820 which left plenty time for next reservation. read more
