This was a very weird escape room experience. I've done over 30 different rooms around the US and Canada, and this one stood out for a variety of not so good reasons. The first thing to note is that you only have 45 minutes for each room, not 60. The second was that the staff wasn't very professional. Our group did the Claustrophobia room and wasn't aware that it was a "horror" room. We kept asking just how scary it was or what the images were like, and the staff just said "I don't know", finding our discomfort funny. Next, when you ask for a clue, a staff member just comes into the room (which really lessens the experience in my opinion), and never actually gave a clue. They would say something like "that's not the right code" which obviously we already knew. We ended up being on the very last puzzle when the timer went up. We spent so much of the time in fear of what we would encounter that we didn't really enjoy it. If we had been given a heads up that it was mild (because it was), we would've felt better about it. I'm giving 3 stars because the room was well designed and the other themes seemed great. However, there are definitely things that could have made the experience better. read more

Did the Diamond Heist room - really enjoyed it, one of my favourites in Toronto. Good mix of puzzles, challenging but definitely doable.. and the tech was pretty cool! We did it with only 2 people, I wouldn't have wanted a group larger than 4 because you solve the clues sequentially and I think it would have felt too cramped with a big group all working on the same thing. read more

I did Claustrophobia with 3 other people, and we really liked it! Definitely creepy, especially at the beginning. Wasn't quite as difficult as some escape rooms I've been in, but it may have been that it was easier to coordinate and think through puzzles with fewer people. Our only complaints were that the room was really warm to the point where 2 of us felt a bit nauseous afterwards. read more

I've done two other escape rooms with other companies, and this was definitely in third place. The staff were very friendly and the facilities are nice, but the room itself (Pandemic) was too simplistic. It was not as elegantly thought-out as other rooms I have been to, and the room and props seemed a bit "budget". There were only about three main puzzles to solve. read more

The people here were really nice and professional. We started with the Jewel Heist and had such a good time that we stayed and did another room. We've been to a few other escape rooms and sometimes they aren't a good balance of challenge, puzzle solving and fun...this place does a great job at this, though! Favourite escape place so far (and I've tried four in the GTA) 4 of us, all in our twenties, played the Claustrophobia room. We all loved it. The briefing room provided a creepy/fun start to the game and got us pumped. The prep and setup was very intricately done and most importantly THE CLUES MADE SENSE! Even though we didn't finish we were really close. You have to listen to your teammates which makes this a great team building outing. There's also the option to break into smaller groups, which is important when you're on a time limit (other escape rooms are much more linear and result in a lot of twiddling thumbs). Production value is very high and you can tell the team has worked hard to create an effective ambience in the room. Staff was super friendly and down to earth. They were understanding about us being a little late due to traffic. Their deal for players to play for free on their birthday is also awesome. At $20 for students, it's definitely worth it. This is my first ever review for anything. I had such a great experience that I just have to share my thoughts. I've been to a few escape rooms and have learned that the downtown core rooms are a hit and a miss in terms of overall experience... Trapped! officially has blown them all away and has set a standard... Although my experience has more meaning than a typical review I will start by saying that I had gone here for a personal plan (can't divulge anymore because it can take away the fun for others who may come up with the same idea) which the amazing staff kindly and efficiently supported and helped to make it happen. Staff - Again, I can't say enough for how accommodating the staff (Duncan, Jenn and Joanne) was for my requests. On short notice, I shared my plan with them and Duncan replied quickly. Then before I knew it. He had the others on it and was ready for me to come in. When I arrived that day, I was greeted by Jenn and Joanne. My gf and I were greeted with friendly faces and a warm welcome before they even knew who I was. Before and after the experience they treated us like acquaintances rather than customers. Needless to say, the customer service was five-star service. Facility - I know you shouldn't judge a book by the cover (in this case, the website), but from the quality of their website it was a clear indication of what to expect in person. The moment we walked into the front door I noticed how clean and detailed the staircase alone was. You already get the feeling that your adventure will only get better. Upon entering the main area, it was well decorated. Not just posters on walls and tables and chairs like most places... it was actually like they had a professional designer put thought into how to arrange everything. Ikea furniture it seems. The place was spotless and comfortable for a downtown building. I couldn't wait to get to the room. Puzzle Room - The room I chose was the Diamond Heist. The usual "intro" room where they have you wait and give you a quick intro was even set up properly to get you into the mood and hype you up for the Room. The puzzles were thought of well and challenging. We had to use 3 hints. The quality of each room and prop were nothing short of a professional film shoot which helped to really get you immersed into the experience. *The bonus for this Room was that it accommodates 2 players. Usually, rooms are for 4-6 minimum or you have to fill the required number of participants to play. All in all Trapped! deserves accolades. Really nice place! Students get a discount which is great. The Diamond Heist is really fun and creative. Best to go with a group of 5. Apparently had some technical problems for some puzzles and, using our hints, they gave us more time to make up for the time we spent trying to solve some puzzles when they were just not working. Went to a few escape rooms before going to trapped, and this one was definitely a good one! I started off doing one of their rooms - Pandemic, which is comparable to some of the other escape rooms out there. Had such a good time that I stayed for round 2 and did the Claustrophobia room - did not expect this! Claustrophobia required team work and was actually kind of scary - picture this being a saw-esque kind of scenario. Very well done and unique room. More recently, trapped opened their diamond heist room, and my friends couldn't wait to organize our group to try that room after our good experience in the other 2 rooms. Our favourite element of the diamond heist room: LASERS! A different kind of challenging, but just as much of a good time as the other rooms. Very convenient location, good prices (discount for back to back rooms), very personable service, a popcorn machine! The 3 rooms are different enough from each other that it's a different experience every time. I have recommended this to friends and they've all enjoyed their time a trapped, so I'm going to say it's safe to recommend Trapped to strangers as well. read more

This escape room company is well run and well organized! I've been twice now and really enjoyed both experiences. The rooms were fun, intricately designed, and made you get into the action. Both times I left sweating from being so worked up about winning. The staff are really nice and want you to have a good time. Definitely recommend! I've been to several escape rooms in the city and this is the first one I did not enjoy. We did the zombie room. It was small and there were very few puzzles. The puzzles did not make sense contextually or create any kind of narrative. We escaped in time but I didn't feel like I got anything out of it, and felt it was a waste. I would not come here again or recommend it. read more

The clues in the room where worn off to the point we couldn't read them, a CD we had to use to get to the next stage was so scratched we could not use it, just everything was just so over used and worn out to the point where it completely ruined our game! We were so upset. They tried to rectify it with a half off game next time, but I will not be returning! Though the staff was very nice, I was there for the room and I definitely did not get what I paid for. DO NOT RECOMMEND!! read more

Went online and apparently they close at 1am. Called to double check and inquire about the time of the last slot for today. The guy told us 11pm so we went down there and got there at 10:30pm only to find they closed on us. If we had to book that wouldn't be a problem but the guy on the phone never mentioned anything about booking in advance. Went down there for no reason. What a waste of time!! We ended up at Captive which we were able to get in. It would of been nice if the guy could of mentioned to book it now on the phone to ensure our time instead of going down there. anyways just got home from captive although I went there for the second time it was still fun. read more

Great escape facility. We did the claustrophobia room which was an interesting set up with fun puzzles. The staff was very friendly. Not much of a lobby area to hang out but that's not surprising for a downtown facility. I only wish they had one hour rooms like most uptown places as the game seemed very short. read more

Very Fun and challenging!! This was my first time ever trying an escape room so i was very eager to try this one out. We tried the pandemic room, it was a lot of science, but it still ended up being very entertaining. The staff were very nice and friendly also! There were just the 2 of us when we went to Pandemia room. Unfortunately, this number of people is just not enough to solve all the puzzles on time. The set up is amazing. They definitely put a lot of effort to create a believable atmosphere. It can get pretty creepy inside, so if you're not a big fan of horror movies, maybe start with a more neutral room. They also have all sorts of clues and puzzles hidden in some unusual ways. Highly recommended! read more

We did the pandemic room- it was the perfect level of difficulty and the decorations and clues were really believable.I'd recommend at least 4 people for this room thought. I played and won both Pandemic and Claustrophobia, both times with a group of six people. If you are not into scary, you might not like these. A lot of people like that creepy element of the game, but if there are people in the group who are uncomfortable it kind of spoils the experience. The facility is clean and everything looks custom built from the moment you enter the staircase leading up to the front entrance. I researched several escape rooms in the Toronto and Burlington areas and can say without a doubt that Trapped! was the most responsive, professional and easy to work with! We were able to work a large group through two sessions in the three rooms available and it worked very well. Although Trapped was my first experience in an escape room, I was thoroughly impressed by the quality of its rooms, its puzzles and its phenomenal staff! We first tried the Diamond Heist room and I felt like a real burglar! It is intricate, well thought out and challenging on top of incorporating crazy cool technological components. I loved the room and the experience so much that I went back the day after to try out the Pandemic room. It was very different from the first room but just as fun, challenging and realistic! If you like a good brain challenge, Trapped is for you! Overall, we were most impressed by the staff working. Lisa, Carmen and Priscilla were incredibly nice and welcoming. It was clear that they feel passionate about the rooms and they communicated their excitement very well. I will definitely be back to conquer the Claustrophobia room and look forward to new rooms. Original and innovative, Trapped offers authentic escape room experience in the heart of downtown. Waiting area is very clean and well designed, with plenty of light and custom built furniture for reception and storage areas. This was my second experience at a break out room in Toronto and it wasn't as good as my first. The biggest problem here was that the room was too easy (too short). We were only given 45 minutes but we solved the pandemic room with 18 minutes to spare and without any hints! The individual puzzles were interesting but the whole thing was really short. We were happy to solve the puzzle but it felt like a bit of a rip off to spend $22 each for 23 minute experience. This was made worse by the fact that when we emerged with so much time to spare the employees didn't seem very excited or enthusiastic at all. They seemed bored - a stark contrast to our other experiences. I will say the clues here made sense and the story was fun. The effects were pretty good and there were some elements which were quite creative. Overall it would be good for two people or perhaps a group who has trouble with puzzles, but if you want a serious challenge, I'd skip this place. read more

This was such a fun and amazing experience! Three of my friends and I went for my birthday and had an amazing time! We did the Claustrophobia room, which had tons of different twists and turns. It was the right amount of creepy and spooky without being downright terrifying. The staff were super nice and helpful, and I got a free pass for my birthday, and they even offered us some extra time - which was really nice because it was a totally new experience for most of us. We're definitely gonna go back to try the other rooms! read more

This was my first time going to an escape room, so I wasn't quite sure what to expect. It was four of us, and the staff was really nice and helpful. They made us sign a waiver which basically is meant to protect them against idiots hurting themselves in the rooms. They gave us the necessary equipment (some blindfolds and handcuffs for the team leader) and led us into a room to explain a few things. The blindfolds are so that you don't get an unfair advantage and know what is going on. We did "Claustrophobia". I won't reveal what happened in the room, but you have to be quick and really communicate with your team. There were buttons in case we needed a hint, and we only needed it once because of miscommunication. It was great, and twice I got stuck because I was an idiot with the locks so we ran out of the given time but they have us an extra 5-6 minutes and we got out!!! I have to say, compared to another escape room we went to prior writing this review, this one was most enjoyable. The atmosphere, sound effects, and room concept was amazing, would easily come here again. read more
