I've always put up with lackluster service and non competitive prices, with ok work to support local businesses but this last visit was the last straw. Typically, the proprietor is short on words or chatty with offending comments. I mean dude is ALWAYS asking me if I took the day off if I show up on a week day during business hours, like "why?". Never fails, it's like he can't believe I have a job where I can run errands during the day. Every "chatty" day, he always wants to know what I do for a living. But I digress, on this occasion dude meandered to greet us after about three minutes of looking up, making eye contact, finished whatever he was doing for another 3 minutes or so and was like "what can I do for you?" In the most annoyed tone. I stated my daughter needed to have a hem altered and my wife needed a zipper fixed. Dude said "ok' and walked away. I instructed my daughter to go change, he came out another 5 minutes later and hastily marked her gown and again disappeared. When my daughter finished changing dude annoyingly asked if a week later was fine and rudely instructed me to "pay now."after finishing the transaction he took the pants that needed a zipper and hung them up in the walkway with the ticket for BOTH garments and left to finish whatever he was doing again without a single word. No "thank you", no "good bye" not a fucking word. Keep in mind my daughter was still standing there holding the SECOND garment. I had to grab, the pants and hang the gown with the pants to lessen the chance the two would be separated. He watched me do all of this and didn't even feign concern. I returned a week later to receive the $60 of work with pretty much the same attitude. By now I knew not to expect a shred of decorum or respect so I just handed him the ticket had my daughter try on the dress(he disappeared after handing me the garments), and walked out without a word after seeing the fit. I'm done with the place, the work has always been average at best, and the cost has always been exorbitant. Dude clearly doesn't want to work anymore and needs to sell the business and hang it up. read more

I brought my wedding dress in for alterations and they did such a wonderful job transforming it!!! I needed my straps shortened, a front panel put in and a bustle added. I brought my middle school aged daughter's choir dress in because it was way too big for her. She had been measured at school, but the dress size they suggested I order was massive and the replacement dress (half the size) was still enormous. The dress required a tremendous amount of alterations to get it to fit her, but they did a beautiful job on the dress and had it back to us in plenty of time before we needed it. I needed my wedding dress to be altered and lengthened. I was told by my wedding dress shop that there was additional lace under the dress for me to lengthen. Turned out there wasn't. The lace from the dress company was way too expensive and so Mr. Trans said he would look at it and see what he could do. He was able to find lace that was identical to my dress--I honestly couldn't tell what was original and what was new. He was able to extend the dress length flawlessly. I brought in my wedding suit to get it altered because it was a standard fit. The Trans were very accommodating on the date when I needed it done. On the wedding day, I noticed that the leg opening was tight. I brought it back to get it altered a few days later and they were able to fix it at no cost. I needed to have alterations made to my wedding dress less than a month before my wedding - new loop for hook at the top of the back zipper, taken in around torso and hips, and add a bustle. They had it done in plenty of time and when I went in to try it on after alterations, the bustle left the back of the dress just a tad too long still, so they picked it up a little bit more - no problem - and I picked up the finished dress a few days later. I have somewhat mixed feelings about this tailor. I purchases suit from J.crew that was in major needof tailoring. They lengtened the sleeves on the jacket for less than 20, tailored re vest precisely, but completely notched the pants. I bought size 30 pants, but needed them to be taken out to a 31. After 4 TRIES, all of which i had to pay for, they finally fixed it. What was supposed to be a 20 dollar job went to being 60 amd they still don't for very well because i got tired of going back to tell them to take out another inch. Plus, the customer service is atrocious. Go at your own risk. read more

After reading stellar reviews on this business, I decided to bring in a pair of jeans for alteration. The jeans (ICON) are constructed for motorcycle riding and I needed them taken up. I asked the owner to take up the waist, legs (circumference) and crotch areas. Also, I asked if he could add pockets inside the knees so I could insert knee guards, which I brought in, for extra protection while I ride. He made all his necessary markings, consulted with a lady who worked there, and agreed to everything I asked for a total of $65. I knew I had asked for a lot, so the price seemed fair. When I returned to pick up my jeans the following week, I put them on and they fit exactly the same as before. The extra room in the waist, legs and crotch was still there. I could not tell if ANYTHING had been done to them to alter the fit. Pockets were added in the knees for my knee guards, but they were very crude, large, and nowhere near the chalk markings (still showing) he had marked on the jeans. I stood in front of him with the jeans on and held the extra fabric in the areas where he had done nothing and pointed out that we had spoken about taking those areas up. He made excuses as to why those areas could not be altered, smiled and said I owed him $65. I mentioned that he did not do everything we had agreed on and he said that was all he could do. The fact that this business owner agreed to do work that I requested at a fair price and NOT complete the work is one thing, but to charge me the original price for partial work is unfair and unjust. A simple phone call to inform me that he could not perform the requested work, or at least to let me know that he could only perform part of the request would have been professional and ethical. The miniscule amount of work that was performed wasn't even up to tailoring standards that anyone would expect. My knee guards, that he used as a template, move all around in the large pockets he sewed. I don't have high standards to adhere to. I just wanted a baggy pair of unfitting jeans to fit me better. Now I'm $65 lighter along with the cost of the jeans. All things considered, this is one of the worst business service experiences I've ever had. read more

During the horrible Harvey flooding, my bridesmaid dress was at Trans Tailor. I went to the store and was saddened to see the store was very damaged. I was very nervous that I would have to back out of the wedding last minute and that my dress would be ruined. However, when I got a hold of Tim he hand delivered the safe and tailored dress to me even though they were closed that day.
