We were looking for a Vietnamese restaurant that serves cơm thịt nướng and we found our new spot. Get the fish sauce wings, they were perfect!
What a great find in an old shopping center in Folsom. As soon as we walked in, we were seated and served waters.. The place is clean and I love the woodwork on the tables. There are three TVs playing different content. We shared our dishes to see how our favorites and something we hadn't heard of stacked up against our years eating Vietnamese in the Bay Area. Here's what we thought of the food: Thai Tea - 9 Flavorful without being too sweet. Probably the best balance I've had! Shrimp & Pork Spring Rolls - 9 Fresh shrimp (no fishiness) and wonderful herbs with a warmed peanut sauce. Grilled Betel Leaf Beef over rice - 10 Wow...so much flavor in these meatloaf sausage wrapped treasures. The salad is kinda of plain but the rice is well cooked and fish sauce is pretty good (could use more flavor but I love that it isn't overly sweet). Grilled Meat over Vermicelli- 9 Very flavorful pork that was perfectly cooked. Mixed with vermicelli, lettuce and fish sauce makes this light and flavorful. We were amazed at the quality of food here in this nondescript strip mall restaurant. They will be taking a lot of business from the other Vietnamese restaurants in Folsom. I highly recommend a visit!
Tran Kitchen is one of the better Vietnamese food options in the area, and I'm giving it 4 stars for the exceptional service, clean restaurant, convenient location, and ample parking. The food is good for the local clientele, so expect flavors that are a bit milder and more approachable. Authentic Vietnamese cuisine can be bold and complex, which may not appeal to everyone who is new to it. The egg rolls were a standout. They were seasoned well and won me over from the very first bite. We ordered several classics: Pho Dac Biet, Bo Kho, and Bun Bo Hue. The beef broth was well prepared, but all three soups tasted very similar to me. While that worked well for the pho, it was somewhat disappointing for the Bo Kho and Bun Bo Hue, which traditionally have their own distinct flavor profiles and seasonings. The dishes seemed tailored more toward American palates, and I found myself adding extra saté while still craving more lemongrass and traditional mam-based seasoning. The Bun Bo Hue, in particular, would benefit from optional authentic additions such as pork blood, cha hue, and pork shoulder. I spoke with the owner about this, and he agreed that offering these ingredients upon request could be a great option. I believe this would attract more Asian customers looking for a more authentic experience. There is a sizable Asian community in the area, and many of us are often hesitant to try new Asian restaurants because authenticity can vary widely. That said, if you're new to Vietnamese food, Tran Kitchen is definitely worth a visit. They offer all the classic favorites, the service is excellent, and you won't have to travel far to enjoy a solid Vietnamese meal.
FINALLY. Folsom has a Vietnamese restaurant that gets it right! Wow, did Folsom need this. I was honestly getting pretty disappointed with some of the local Vietnamese restaurants. It felt like the focus was on pumping out huge quantities of pho rather than actually caring about the quality of the food. Then Tran Vietnamese opened its doors, and it has completely changed my opinion. First off, the staff is genuinely friendly and welcoming. You can tell they take pride in their customer service and actually care about the experience they're providing. But let's talk about the pho. I've ordered the rare beef pho multiple times now, and it is outstanding. The broth comes out piping hot, the noodles are fresh, and the steak is actually fresh rather than tasting like it came straight from the freezer. The basil is incredibly aromatic, the limes are always juicy, and all those little details make a huge difference. I usually stick with pho, but Henry, one of the owners, convinced me to branch out and try the shaken beef. I'm glad I listened because WOW. The beef was tender, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. Definitely worth ordering. The Vietnamese egg rolls are another winner. Super crispy on the outside, with fresh carrots and lettuce, plus the dipping sauce ties everything together. More recently, I started ordering the grilled pork spring rolls, and WOW again. Fresh, flavorful, and packed with great texture. Another easy recommendation. And then there's dessert, something I've honestly never really ventured into with Vietnamese food before. I tried their Vietnamese flan with coffee on top, and I didn't know what I was missing! The coffee is rich but still smooth and creamy, while the flan is silky and packed with flavor. The combination is seriously delicious. I'll definitely be ordering this again. What I really appreciate about Tran Vietnamese is that they clearly take pride in what they're serving. The food tastes fresh, the flavors are there, and the whole experience feels authentic rather than mass-produced. Folsom has needed a place like this for a while. I'm genuinely thankful they opened here. I'll definitely keep coming back. If you haven't tried Tran Vietnamese yet, put it on your list. Start with the rare beef pho... and then let Henry talk you into something else.
New place in Folsom and we were not disappointed! Everything was fantastic. Food came out quickly and fresh. Their fried egg rolls are the best in town, and I've had others at many Vietnamese places. Nice friendly service. We will be back and highly recommend trying them out.
We visited the restaurant during Grand opening for lunch. It was packed and it took a while to get our food. The service was friendly and they checked several time on us and to refill the water. We visited again the following week for a to-go order. The restaurant wasn't busy but we still had to wait quite a while for our food. - H4. Bo Kho with bun: the soup broth was good (tomatoey with a hint of sweetness). The beef pieces were tender and they were lots of pieces. The bun was super good: crunchy on the outside yet soft inside. It was the perfect combo to dipped into the broth. - P2. Pho Tai Bo Vien: the portion was generous. The broth wasn't too fatty and tasted clean yet savory. The noodle was cooked perfectly and they were quite generous for the meatball & sliced steak. - S1. Bahn Mi Thit Nuong chicken: it was okay. It didn't have the pate as in other Bahn mi places. However, the pickled vegetables were crunchy and fresh. The chicken pieces were tender and flavorful. - R2. Com Thit Nuong chicken: the portion was good. The chicken was juicy and flavorful but I wish it was more charred.
I ordered the combo noodle plate with chicken. I wish I had a better picture, but it was so good. I could not stop eating.! I called the order over the phone. The guy was very nice and patient with me. I did a pick up and the food is 100 out of 10. Extremely good. I would not fix anything about this plate. I also got a side of eggrolls the rice bowl, aside of egg rolls and. Pho was $49! But everything is expensive these days so I'm OK with it! Great food, and amazing service

Served on a bed of lettuce with tomatoes and sautéed onions, plus pickled onions on top. Egg rolls were average but the bread that came with my cohort's beef stew was delicious with good texture.
Ordered the spicy lemon grass beef soup to go and it was tasty. Very good customer service and has a nice and efficient menu to tailor all taste buds. Come hungry. They also do dine in too.

Very good will be back! The hospitality was great they were checking up making sure service and food was good. The place felt clean and has a good ambiance. The pho and wings were very good. The food felt home cooked and not processed. I really enjoyed my pho. This place is really new so I took a chance and happy I went. How does one express pure joy and satisfaction that there's finally a LEGIT, local Vietnamese kitchen that prides itself on 24-hour slow cooked broth -that is so well balanced and not overly salted that it brings a watery-eyed level of gratitude?? I'll try to do them justice but do yourself a favor and pull up ASAP. Everything we've had thus far (3 visits in 2 weeks and counting) has been phenomenal. My kids and I love the steak pho because that broth is a proper slow cooked, full-flavor bowl of goodness and the generous protein that it's packed with actually has my son say next time he'll do kid's portion (and he can put it away!). The bahn mi sandwich is a knock out with tender charred meat, all the picked veggies and crunchy yet soft French baguette. You can taste the family tradition in their egg rolls (and I learned the owner's mom makes them), that's the secret ingredient, made with love. The team is so welcoming and warm and attentive. We celebrated our son's bday and they had a fun spinning wheel to gift him a little treat. Guys, I no longer have to make the trek to deep South Sac or wait for the next trip to San Jose to satisfy the craving. Tran Kitchen fills a missing piece of Southeast Asian cuisine that's been missing in the Folsom/EDH area. Please patronize them soon! Don't let the dated strip mall fool you. It just means lots of parking! It's nicely updated, clean, modern and ready to delight.

The fish sauce wings are some of the BEST wings I've ever had!!! They are super crispy and umami, but not too sweet or salty. I'd say it's their star dish and if you go it's a must-have. The fried spring rolls are also surprisingly good; the meat tastes natural and not like the "mystery meat" you get from other places. Also super crispy. They have a lot of competition opening up right next to Pho ABC. And to be honest I don't think their pho can match the quality/price/speed of ABC. However, it was still quite good. My only other critique would be to char or crisp the pork more before adding it to the vermicelli bowl. The service is good and it has a simple but clean ambiance. read more

Tran Kitchen hits a few high notes, but sloppy details and an inflated price tag keep it strictly in the "middle of the road" territory. On the plus side, the hours are great (open 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM), and the atmosphere is relaxed, complete with a tv showcasing traditional Vietnamese cuisine. Our waiter was another bright spot--warm, friendly and quick on his feet. Unfortunately, the food didn't quite match his level of polish: Vietnamese Iced Coffee was a letdown for coffee lovers. Instead of arriving with a traditional phin filter dripping slowly over sweetened condensed milk, it came premixed from a batch. It was overloaded with cream and sweetness, completely masking any actual coffee flavor. Vegetarian Egg Rolls are purely baseline. Hot, crunchy and harmless, but entirely unremarkable in flavor. Combo Beef Pho was easily the star of the table. A rich aromatic broth floating over a hearty mountain of noodles and tender, generous cuts of beef. Pure comfort in a bowl. Pork Chop Rice Plate is a mixed bag. Ordered without peanuts or fish sauce, the kitchen nailed the modification, the pork chop itself was cooked well, and it came with a big, generous scoop of rice. But the salad felt like an afterthought -- a sad tiny handful of haphazardly chopped lettuce with quartered tomatoes, sliced cucumbers, slivered carrots and daikon with barely a ghost of dressing. When the check arrived, it stung a little. While the pho and rice fill you up, paying top-dollar prices for pre-batched, overly sweet coffee and a rushed side salad makes the overall value feel off. 3.5 stars. Go for the friendly service and a steaming bowl of pho, but manage your expectations on the rest. read more

Went to try this spot for dinner last night, and I was super impressed. I got beef and meatball pho, and chicken spring rolls. The service was super attentive, not what I would expect from a pho shop for sure. The broth was delicious and the portions were huge. I've never had chicken spring rolls before, so I thought I'd try it and I'm pretty sure they cooked it fresh. Like cooked the chicken and then rolled the rolls. It was substantial and I probably could have had that as a meal by itself. Really great place, I highly recommend and I will go back. read more

This place exceeded my expectations! If im being honest, nothing in the food scene of folsom has really wowed me except this place. I ordered the spicy lemongrass chicken plate and my fiance got their signature pho . The pho broth was amazing- one of the best ive had. I really liked that i could taste the the star anise-it wasnt too potent or anything but had a nice aroma and made this broth more unique from others because normally I can barely taste it. My chicken was still the highlight though. It wasnt spicy at all though but still juicy tender and delicious. I would def get both dishes again- the shrimp spring rolls were a good appetizer but nothing special. Service was very nice and they came and checked on us a few times. In terms of the Ambiance its not too busy at all and I like thats they have videos of diff viet dishes playing in the background lol read more

4.5/5! About damn time there's a solid Vietnamese restaurant around here! Would like to have more meat or thicker slices but then again I get it times are tough. Let's talk broth: this was solid. You can really taste that beef bones were used and simmered. We're talking clear broth no corners cut. My bowl was pipping hot when it came out and stayed hot for a very long time. So glad I saw the posting about the soft opening for a new Vietnamese restaurant in town. Typically I'll wait a few months before trying a new business to give them an opportunity to iron out any start-up hiccups, but a piping hot bowl of noodle soup sounded like the perfect comfort food for the evening. I was thankful for our server's recommendation. My go-to when frequenting other pho restaurants is usually chicken pho, but I ordered the Bo Kho (House special beef stew served with noodles) which was packed with flavor and a generous portion of noodles to satisfy this foodie's craving for Asian cuisine. My friend ordered the Bun Bo Hue (Spicy lemongrass beef noodle soup) and enjoyed her meal as well. The service was prompt and our server, Henry was attentive. We wish this new local business much success and looking forward to future visits so we can slowly make our way through the rest of the menu! Tried this location out during their opening and on a rainy day. Soup broth was clean and bean sprouts/basil were fresh. The broth did not seem very hot, it comes in a large bowl. I could only eat half and brought the other half home. The noodles are plentiful and seemed slightly under cooked but later softened in the broth. The service was attentive. Great new Vietnamese spot in Folsom. Solid Pho and excellent Bo Kho. Easily the best pho place in a town with limited choices for decent Vietnamese. Pho was on the sweeter side, but solid. Good cuts of beef in the soup. Was a bit stingy with the bean sprouts, but was only second day open when we went so I'm sure minor things like this will improve. The Bo Kho was the highlight. Very flavorful broth, tender meat and the banh mi bread it came with was perfectly crispy on the outside and soft inside. We also tried the chicken pho, it was the weakest part of the meal. Not bad, just C level. Service was good and owner stopped by the table to make sure everything was good and offered the kids free ice cream since it was their soft opening. We'll definitely come back when looking for Vietnamese and in the area. read more

The food and service are good. We were immediately seated and given waters, and the food did not take especially long to come out. There is ample seating and the place is clean. We ordered the kids vermicelli with tofu and the tofu bahn mi, which was $20 combined. The vermicelli was light with good lemongrass flavor and slight spice. The bahn mi had a good creamy mayo sauce, but was slightly bland--the pickled veggies could have been more pickled. However, we added the siracha chili sauce at the table and it was delicious. I really appreciate the way it was cut, the very back was not cut so nothing came squeezing out as we tried to eat it. Overall, everything was good and easy to eat. I shared the food with the other person in my group and it was the perfect amount of food. Great vegetarian options and large menu! I hope this place stays in business. read more

With Saigon Alley & Pho n' Roll closing on us, I was excited to see a new pho restaurant in town! I was very impressed with their excellent customer service. The staff are very kind, patient and helpful. We ordered pho ga for our kids and they loved it. The broth was amazing! You don't need to add a thing. Bo kho was also so flavorful and delicious. The place is a bit on the smaller side but it's a decent size. The bathroom was nice and clean as well. I also love the decor they have- flowers and pics of Vietnam. This will be our regular pho spot from now on. read more
