Hailey,our waitress, was really sweet and quick with the customer service. The salad bar was wonderful. My wife ordered a chicken fajita which was very good. The chips and salas plus the sweet tea were all very good. Hailey kept our drinks refilled and we never had to ask for anything except for a water (which is on me). I first ate at Trail Riders some years ago for lunch, and remembered it fondly. This last week, after camping a frigid night up by Greer, I was ready to descend from the heights for a hot (and comfortable) breakfast. Trail Riders seemed the obvious choice. Nor was I wrong. The feast of chicken fried steak with sausage gravy, scrambled eggs, hash browns, buttered English muffins and orange juice did the trick. It's classic diner food, served in impressive quantity. They will fill you up pleasantly, and in my experience not keep you waiting too long for it. In future trips to the White Mountains, I expect to eat there again. read more

Worth a return. They were busy for lunch and in a town where bad news travels fast they couldn't last long with bad food or service. Had a trail burger cooked exactly as ordered. Not a lot of fries which makes healthy eating sense. Will go back again. And talked to locals in other stores that said this was there favorite place. A hard task in any small town. read more

After a day of skiing, we went to check in to our hotel the Best Western. I was disappointed when checking Yelp and I saw only one restaurant in town, which was American, Mexican. However, after getting there the drink selection was good and the menu had everything! My table ordered prime rib, fried chicken steak, hot beef sandwich, and a burger. All were great choices and included a trip to the salad bar! The service was on point even though the servers said 4 tables sat at once, we would not have noticed, we were in the bar area. If I'm ever in the area again I will go back, there were so many options and I would want to try more of the menu! read more

Visiting the White Mtns for the weekend. Asked the young hostess for stable, not a booth. There is a table open right as you walk into the restaurant. Young girl says "as soon as a table opens, we'll get it cleaned down for you." Sit and wait 10 minutes. That front table is still open. We left. Rotten service at this place. My family and I were visiting Pinetop from Gilbert and ventured over to Eager. It was just after lunch time and we found this place. Upon walking in we had a warm greeting and got to sit right away. Great menu with lots of options! They took our orders quickly and the food came in no time! It was all so delicious. I had a bean and cheese burrito enchilada style, great tasting sauce! My husband and I went geocaching in this area. Decided we wanted lunch stopped in here wish we didn't. I ordered a bottle cap burger MEDIUM RARE!!!! It came out well well well done I mean no juice at all. The bottom part of my bun was so soggy with what ever butter that was on the grill, The fries tasted like they were re-fried no taste at all. My husband ordered cheese enchiladas that was also a mistake his rice was yuck the enchiladas was more sauce then cheese. I really wanted this to be good cause people seem to like it. This place is amazing! I have family that live in Eagar and when we are in town we love going here. The service is amazing and the food is out of this world. If you are are there for breakfast I highly recommend the breakfast burrito with green chili. The hash browns with green chili are also amazing. We love stopping here after camping at Big Lake. The food is 5 Stars. The service can be a little slow when it's busy and they store toilet paper and paper towels right up at the front for all to see. Other than that, the food is excellent, from scratch. I can't get enough of their tacos (breakfast tacos and crispy tacos). They have great biscuits and gravy and delicious sandwiches. I highly recommend Trail Riders! read more

Went here for breakfast. I had the egg burro with bacon, I loved it. The red chili sauce was great. Ordered some pancakes on the side with buttermilk syrup. First, let me start off by saying you don't even notice this place because it's in the front of a Basha's Supermarket. When we entered, my wife and I were warmly greeted and offered our choice of tables. The theme is Western because on the streets of Springerville, AZ, in the Round Valley, is where the Arizona Ranger sent Texas Red to meet his Maker. There is a well stocked bar off to the right upon entering the front door with ample finger food on the menu. The layout of the dining area is unusual because it was well thought out. Warm pine tables line the windowed wall, and separated from this area was another area with tables that serviced large parties keeping the main dining floor quiet to the point that we could communicate at little more than a whisper. The large high backed booth seats kept conversations private. Our waitress, Maria, was very pleasant, and you could tell it was not a put on face. She enjoyed what she did and very proudly told us our meal would be prepared by her husband in the kitchen. The salad bar was the normal fare but it had a sneeze shield constructed and installed to be effective when needed to protect the contents. I, being an ex-Army cook, liked that. Now, on to the meal. I ordered Chicken Fried Steak and my wife ordered Talapia. Now ordering fish in the White Mountains of Arizona takes a lot of faith in the recommendations we were given by our local friends. In retrospect, their advice was spot on. The fish was cooked perfectly and my vocabulary can't justify the seasonings applied. Both my wife and I are carbohydrate limited so potatoes were not ordered, but a double order of veggies was. If I were told the veggie of the day was carrots, I would've asked for an alternative but I didn't ask. I don't know how the carrots were cooked and they wouldn't tell me, but they were outstanding. As for my meal, what can you say about Chicken Fried Steak? It was not overcooked and the cream sauce was seasoned and definitely not out of a can. Why the 5 star rating? Well if this was an establishment you had to make reservations for two weeks in advance, and you were met at the door by some guy in a Tux with too much starch in his shirt, and you had to tip just to get seated, and the waiter also had a tux and a diaper over his arm and the check equaled a week's wages, it might be a 2 star but considering the modest cost, it is a 5 Star deal in my book. read more

We stopped in for lunch and were surprised at the size inside. Nice decor and plenty of staff. My wife had the patty melt with onion rings. I ordered the Hatch chili burger with fries. Both were cooked perfectly medium rare. My wife love the patty melt but could only eat half. My burger was juicy and GREAT. I loved it. We enjoyed the place so much, we went for dinner a few night later. My wife had the French dip sandwich made with sliced prime rib. She loved it. I had the chicken fried steak dinner. Pretty good too. The steak was a bit over fried but still good. The gravy was a bit under seasoned but I was able to fix that too. Again, good food, good staff and a good time. My boyfriend and I went in for breakfast. The food was okay. The cook does not know how to cook eggs. The service was terrible. We were seated quickly but it took about 15 minutes to get our drinks order. It was not even busy. There was probably about 3 or 4 other tables. We just sat there looking at the servers as they were chatting and avoiding eye contact with us. A busser finally took our drink order and we had to wait again for a real server to take our food order. No smiles from either person. They looked so unhappy to be there. Our food finally came and we never saw our sever again till she dropped off our check. She never came back to refill our drinks, give us extra napkins, which we needed, or ask how our food was. We were finally leaving and trying to pay for our food, but of course, no one was there to take our payment. We could have easily just walked out and no one would have noticed. I went in for dinner tonight and it was horrible! There were just as many wait staff as patrons (we went in around 8pm). The servers were more interested in socializing than helping customers. Our food came and was cold. The food didn't have a very good flavor either. The waitress forgot to bring out what our daughter had ordered. I love Trail they have the most amazing red chilli. Their burgers are real burger not pre formed crap which are amazing. Not only that Their ribeye steaks are the best on the mountain hands down. This restaurant is by far the worst restaurant I've ever eaten at. When we first arrived, we were seated fairly quickly and then waited at least 15 minutes for the waiter (and the restaurant was not busy) to take our drink orders and another 15 minutes to brink the drinks. I ordered the French dip and my father ordered the tacos. When the food finally arrived about 20 minutes later, it looked terrible from the start - the sandwich looked incredibly shiny from grease and the sweet potato fries looked dry and old and the tacos only looked moderately better. The French dip was so greasy when I bit into it that I hardly wanted to swallow it and I only ate about half of it because it was so disgusting and the fries proved to be no less greasy. The tacos were bland and also very greasy and the tortillas on the side came buttered. Not only was the French dip very greasy that didn't even turn out to be the worst part about it as afterwards I experienced a moderate to severe bout of food poisoning from the sandwich meat. This place is absolutely awful in every regard. Stay away! read more
