St Johns is a very small, quaint town in eastern Arizona along Route 180. Most of the local restaurants and shops, including Village Cafe, are located right along the main road through town. This place is delicious! We ordered the Dutch bunny which was tasty, but the real star was the German pancake. It's more like a thick crepe texture and comes served in a skillet. It was so good I will be back just to have it again! We also ordered crispy bacon and breakfast potatoes, both of which were delicious. The ambiance is very small town yet clean and upscale. This place is an absolute gem! Normally when we are up this way, it's outside of their operating hours but we got lucky enough today to catch them in the morning on a day they are open. The food is great and cooked from scratch. It's a small operation and retains that small town charm and hospitality. The portions are large and cost is very modest. This place is really amazing. We have eaten here twice when we have been in town. You can tell the place is a family run restaurant. They make real homemade food. We ordered the turkey avocado sandwich, the bbq sandwich, and a side salad. They have rotating specials on the board that look like they change everyday. We have had friendly service both times. My friend and I were in town for my band to play at the Pioneer Days festival, and we found this amazing little place for breakfast before heading back to the Valley. I saw on Yelp that it had "coffee drinks", and my friend being a coffee drinker, we decided to try it out. The service was great from the get go. There was only one other table full there, so we got to pick where we sat. I decided to try the breakfast flatbread, and my friend opted for the frittata and a latte. My breakfast flatbread was unreal! Baked, not fried, crispy on the outside, tons of cheese and toppings. It was cut into 3rds and I had could only eat half. It was so good I decided it was worth letting it sit through the 4 hour drive home just to have the leftovers for breakfast the next day. My friend is a professional chef (like, trained at L'Cordon Bleu pro chef). She was blown away by how perfect the frittata was. Served in a cast iron skillet as it should be, it was not overdone on the outside and runny on the inside. It was PERFECTLY cooked and HUGE. She also took half of hers home. The owner was handling the register and seating/serving and she was a very nice lady (whose name I cannot remember at this time) but she informed me when we asked that her husband is actually the chef. They are from Kosovo. How they landed in a little nowhere town like St. John's is beyond me. A place with food this good would be crazy busy in Phoenix especially on a Sunday morning, but up there it was quiet and calm. We look forward to going back there if we get hired to play up there again. I wish they were down here in the Valley!!! read more

Horrible customer service! After many clients recommending we try it, we stopped by while driving thru town. We arrived well before their closing time and had the door shut in our face before we could enter. The man was extremely brass and said they were closed and out of food. It's definitely our go to place whenever we are in or near St. John's. Owners are very warm and friendly, and the food is always excellent.

Holy crap. A place with a espresso machine in this area. And my Carmel Latte was GOOD!

Terrific food. My husband said it was one of the best Reuben sandwiches he's eaten. I would definitely eat here again.

Am sad to give this place a meh rating, but inconsistency is not a good trait. We LOVED it the first time we had breakfast there a couple of months ago, so I took a friend a few weeks later, also for breakfast. It was awful. Limp, greasy bacon (perfect the first time) a laughably bad 'Belgian Waffle' nasty scrambled eggs, I mean, everything was dreadful! The same waitress who had been so friendly and efficient the first time was brusque and slow. Doubt that we'll go back.
