Great American/Mexican comfort food spot with a full bar and dog-friendly patio. Super clean bathroom. Food came out very fast -- I had a bean burrito that was tasty and satisfying (ate the whole plate!). The patio was a little warm in direct sun, but we adjusted and my dog stayed cool. We stumbled upon this place because it was Sunday late afternoon and all the other restaurants in town were closed. I'm so happy we did! We ordered the San Juan style tacos, which were delicious with their homemade salsa. We also had a black & blue burger, which was one of the best burgers I've ever eaten. The blue cheese was so delicious and the meat tasted like it was locally sourced. So good!!! Food came out quickly. The service was decent. Cannot wait to go back and get another burger. read more

Wouldn't go back, food was lacking in flavor, I watched staff standing around, talking with each other and had to wait awhile before they decided to bring me a menu then wait just as long before they came to take my order, wouldn't have been bad if they were busy but there were only 3 other people in the place and they already had their food. Once I got the food they never came back by to check or even refill my water just stood around talking like a bunch of girls in high school. Atmosphere didn't seem bad and the place was clean, I'll give it that, but I'll never go back. read more

I had the taco plate with shredded beef and it was tasty. They offer tacos San Juan style, which I am told is like a hamburger patty, or solid chunk of ground beef, instead of crumbled, but I decided shredded was best. This place looks like your best bet would be a steak, but our food was hot and tasty, the atmosphere was upbeat and the service was friendly and efficient. I would return next time I stay in Springerville. read more

Blah! Arrived to dinner at 545pm on a Friday waited 20 minutes after sitting to get a drink order, then another 10ish for food order. Waitress seemed annoyed and said sorry they are busy. Busy? What is the definition of busy? Where we were sitting next to the buffet there were 8 tables 2 we're already eating, 1 was paying and 3 were empty then us .... So not sure Price was alright $60 for 2 people for dinner and drinks seems to be standard price. Food not to exciting I guess for the price I wanted a little more not sure what it just wasn't a thrill. Now since I can't pin point an issue a 3 star seems appropriate as it might have been an off night or it might be the norm I dunno. Maybe I'll try again maybe not not sure. read more

We purchased dinner through a phone order on Father's Day, 202, been to safire multiple times. it's always been kind of a rough experience. But it is what it is when you live in a small town. This will probably be the last time we go there, though. My daughter started feeling sick after eating the fish and Chips so I took a bite now I feel ill. I think it's because the oil used to fry was just too old and used too much ignoring the other facts that the food we picked up was ice cold when we got it after only 10 minutes of waiting. They lost our ticket and had to rewrite the ticket before we could even pick up our food. Which had already been paid for. the cold slaw, that came with the fish and chips had no Mayonnaise on it. The bread for my daughter's Turkey club sandwich was not toasted. Everything was very subpar, putting all that aside service has always been terrible. There you go in, you get attitude. You learn to deal with it. You learn to accept it. It is what it is, like I said small town, so very hard To hire and retain anyone up here. But since we feel ill, we are not going to return to safire. Sad to say. read more

We waited 15 minutes to be seated. Then we waited 30 minutes to come to our table and at least get a drink order. We finally decided to go find another place. As we left three waitresses were standing around talking. The buffet looked like it had been there a while and not much was left. The salad bar didn't even have lettuce. Stopped by after hiking in the white mountains and we were pleasantly surprised by all of the food. We sat on the patio with our dog and the water bowl for him was a nice touch. Service was attentive even at a weird time on a weekday. The chips and salsa were really good, which is always appreciated and our server was quick to top off both. We got a double cheeseburger, the chicken tenders and a Chile relleno on the side (we just hiked so we were hungry). All were quite good but the relleno was much better than expected and we agreed that we would try their Mexican next time we came back. Very reasonable prices with large portions and a sensible menu, all good signs for a classic restaurant in a beautiful town. Can't wait to come back. read more

Interesting little place with lots of American decor... service was nothing special. I got the buffalo chicken salad and my husband got the fish and chips. He said it was pretty bad but still ate it. My salad was so saucy it was inedible. I took two bites and politely let the server know that I didn't like it and requested to send it back and have it taken off the bill. She said that they couldn't take it off the bill but offered to give us a discount. The "discount" was $1. Terrible experience and food. read more

I could have sworn that I took a picture of my beautiful enchilada plate but it is no where to be found in my camera roll, so apparently I smashed my food so fast, I forgot to snap a picture. Anyhow ... the food was good. I had a red and a green chicken enchilada with with a side of rice and beans. While it was good, the enchilada lacked the spice/heat I might expect. They were also a little light on the chicken but that could be a cost savings thing due to Covid. I know a lot of businesses are taking a hit and need to make it up somehow so no harm no foul there. The beans and rice were authentic. The Steak was AMAZING! Who would expect delicious steak from a little place like this. I am not sure if it was a fluke but there was certainly no need for A1 sauce here, the seasoning was perfect. The waitress was super sweet and witty/sarcastic in a good way. She made me chuckle and smile quite a few times. The sad truth is more often than not, the weight staff sucks and you can tell they just want to get in and out but could care less about you. That was not the vibe I got from this place, so kudos to them for hiring someone with respect and a personality!! My husband and I stopped in on our way from Denver to Tucson. When Jimi greeted us, we knew it was going to be a great experience. We were there mid-afternoon and so were pleasantly surprised at the traffic that came in at that time of day. It seems a lot of locals go there (the waitstaff knew them), which is always a good sign! The menu was extensive and the prices were reasonable: hubby ordered the beef chimichanga (which he raved about) and I ordered the taco salad (very good) - they make their taco shells fresh every day. The service was exceptional. Jimi was able to give us menu recommendations and she was very engaging. We are now trying to figure out how we can make a trip back once we take up residence in Tucson! We ate at Safire, ordering the Huervos Rancheros which was both plentiful and exuding a wonderful flavor. We decided to split this dish since it was a huge portion size and the green chili sauce was so flavorful and just the right heat for breakfast. I got the morning melt, which was a delicious egg, tomato, and cheese sandwich served on sourdough. It was very tasty. my husband ordered a breakfast skillet. He thought it was good, but I think I had the better dish. The coffee was pretty good and our server was very nice. The food came out really fast too! When you visit, don't be tempted by the cinnamon roll. It is a sweet treat, but I think most might be disappointed. It was dry and lacked that hot gooey center that make a cinnamon roll irresistible. I'm sorry but after driving out for your Friday night seafood buffet last Friday the 4 of us was all very disappointed. We showed the waitress that the shrimp and both other fish were cold! She did not even offer to get us any fresh made or hot. With high concern of the temps on the fish we ended up leaving all of us still hungry. This was too the tune of $120 which we paid for that food, 3 wines, 2 sodas and tip. I hope that the public does not get sick due to this health code violation. Raise the heat up on your buffet. Our family has a summer house near Springerville and any time we go up north, we look forward to eating breakfast at Safire Restaurant. We were bummed out when this location closed a few years ago so we were excited to see Safire Restaurant has re-opened! We stopped in for breakfast on a Saturday morning and things appeared very much the same (good thing). But would the food be like what we remembered?! - YES! Huge portions & fresh tasting ingredients for a low price - who doesn't want a breakfast burrito smothered in New Mexico style green chile? All while sitting in the same room John Wayne used to stop in & eat. Mother in law had a horrible experience. She was just trying to have a nice Birthday breakfast for my father in law. This morning we went to Safire restaurant. The waitress informed me that her father the cook was MAD because I changed my order to. Beans instead of hash brown and I asked for 1 egg NOT 2 and I asked my Ham to be cold not warm. Oh and she tells me " your picky " FYI if I am paying for it DAMN rights I should ask for it the way I like it. Even if the WAITRESS IS THE OWNERS DAUGHTER. Wow, was advised by local motel desk clerk that this is a great place to eat, NOT! The one star is for the fresh salsa with the chips, not fresh. One star for the waitress, she was cute and and answered truthfully. Okay, fried chicken, DRY and well Dry! My chili relleno was not made fresh, per waitress and my experience, no flavor and the beans, soupy and flavorless, rice same ole stuff from any not fresh kitchen. And that was dinner! Skipped breakfast next day, went to Mac dons, got egg sandwich, hate Mac dons but better than Safire! I was looking forward to the trip and way so disappointed! Staying in Greer for the first time and ate at the local joint in town. It was ok. So I turned to a Yelp on day 2 and found Safire ! So worth the drive . Eggs, country fried steak and French toast all cooked to perfection. Largest plates I've ever seen at a restaurant!! The coffee kept flowing and the atmosphere was chill.
