I'm sorry but after driving out for your Friday night seafood buffet last Friday the 4 of us was all very disappointed. We showed the waitress that the shrimp and both other fish were cold! She did not even offer to get us any fresh made or hot. With high concern of the temps on the fish we ended up leaving all of us still hungry. This was too the tune of $120 which we paid for that food, 3 wines, 2 sodas and tip. I hope that the public does not get sick due to this health code violation. Raise the heat up on your buffet. Staying in Greer for the first time and ate at the local joint in town. It was ok. So I turned to a Yelp on day 2 and found Safire ! So worth the drive . Eggs, country fried steak and French toast all cooked to perfection. Largest plates I've ever seen at a restaurant!! The coffee kept flowing and the atmosphere was chill. On Sundays we have our music ministry with our members from St Peter's Catholic church we meet together after mass and talk about our next events with several of our members! Arrived one hour before their set closing time. Upon our arrival we mentioned to the host we would like to order asap. The host sat us and took our drink order. Once she left we were not helped by anyone else. Sat there for a solid 20 minutes receiving no service. All while being seen by multiple people. We helped ourselves to the salad bar then paid our tab and left. Service was definitely a no go. read more

I ordered the steak and shrimp. The mashed potatoes were good and creamy. The steak had nice flavor. The shrimp were chewy and greasy. The salad bar had wilted lettuce but had other good offerings. Came here for dinner on a recommendation from our hotel. We were seated quickly, and service was terrible at first, then quickly picked up. Our servers were a bit forgetful, and had to come back a few times to ask again our orders. The salad bar was stocked nicely with fresh vegetables, except the salad lettuce, which was very brown. After I asked the front to please get new lettuce, they did so, and were apologetic. Their green chile fries were so delicious, as is the green chile in general. Everyone very much enjoyed their food- however my son did end up getting pretty sick hours later from only what we could assume was the hamburger. read more

This was a great choice for dinner! We both had Mexican food. The green chili sauce was amazing! Definitely had a kick to it. The taco I had was one of the best because of how they make the shell! I am not sure what caused the long wait for the food after ordering because it was not that busy. In any event it took way too long and when the order did come the mashed potatoes and vegetables were cold or at least lukewarm and my wife's order was wrong as it had mashed potato rather than baked. The waitress did catch it and asked if she wanted the baked. Considering how long it took with the order she settled for the mashed. The staff was pleasant and helpful but it was just too long for the order. read more

Childhood nostalgia always leaves me itching to stop by this place. Today (11.21.19) I stopped by for the first time in 10+ years. I sat in a booth near the back and found myself thinking about this old building. When I was a child I would frequently come to the Safire with my grandfather. We'd sit at the counter and he would share stories and reminisce with his rancher friends. I'd sip my cocoa or my tea. The waitresses knew all of the regulars by name and would converse and joke with them. Today, the restaurant is quiet. Me and two other small groups of patrons. They've changed the decor from the more western style they had when I was younger. My waitress was friendly. I know I stand out like a sore thumb in this town, so I don't expect much from the local community. But I didn't feel much animosity today. It was nice to sit and have a simple lunch and reminisce a little. When I was younger I really loved the food here. I would always order fried mushrooms and a bean burrito. I skipped the mushrooms today, but I did order a burrito. It was still as good as I remembered. If you find yourself passing through this small town, I would definitely recommend giving this place a visit. It seems a lot more quiet now, but it was definitely worth the stop. It's not super expensive. The food is good. And the waitresses are friendly and will make sure everything is satisfactory. Make sure you tip well. We were vacationing in nearby Greer and looking for a place to get a good dinner on our last night. This place had good reviews so we decided to give them a try. The place was clean and nicely decorated. The staff were really friendly and attentive. The food was good too. My wife had a Philly Cheese sandwich, I had a burger and my 9-yr-old son had the kids' chicken strips. It was all really good. Our server was very friendly and refilled our drinks regularly. She brought us whatever we asked for. The only downside-- not a big deal-- I expected to be able to get a beer with my burger but the server informed me "the bar is closed now", which surprised me because it was 6PM. Not sure what was going on there. Anyway, we'd recommend this restaurant for good American food! (Also we did use the restrooms and they were clean and appropriately equipped.) read more

We're new to the area, and wandered in here on a Saturday evening. Not crowded, but not empty either. The service was good and prompt, the environment was nice and not noisy, prices were very reasonable (coming from California pricing). My burger was outstanding, one of the best I've had in years and I will definitely be back for more. My SO's fish and chips was ok, understanding that fish and chips is difficult to be more than ok. No beer/alcohol available, but unlike some other reviewers that is not the end of the world for us. Nor would we judge a restaurant based on the type of beer served (looking at you, Pacific Grove...) Was always a favorite of ours..but now since my kids have been sick twice from their chicken strips I would no recommend anyone going there. They are nice people, but to serve undercooked or tainted chicken is unacceptable. There's 5 restaurants in this whole town, and I would suggest buying your food at Safeway or Bashas and cooking it yourself. read more

Their Sourdough burger and their fried chicken salads are my absolute favorite here. The burgers are so juicy and flavorful. And for breakfast, no one can beat their Biscuits and sawmill gravy. While working in Springerville, decided to check out Safire that is at the back of a small parking lot. Walked in, and a kind gentleman told me to pick a seat. Waiter was also the bus boy, cashier, host, and generally a well oiled machine. Ordered the Black & Bleu burger. Additionally, had a salad. Salad bar was small, well chilled, and well stocked, dressings were standard restaurant fare, but A-OK. The burger was delivered fast, fresh with pickles, lettuce, onion on the side with piping hot fries. The fries were crispy,just like I like them, and the burger was great too. Had a nice Chipotle sauce along with the Bleu cheese. A little kick, but subtle. Overall, a nice experience, and will go back. read more

Ok so we were up here on business and decided to do lunch. So the service is kinda bad, pretty sure it was our server because there was another girl working tables and she was killing it! Refills like crazy asking her tables if they are good, brought out the chips and salsa quick she was on her game. I don't know her name but wish I did so I can let her know what an awesome job she was doing (we had a younger Hispanic girl). So she came to our table once for drinks, twice to get the order, third because I flagged her down to get chips and salsa for the first time and four to give us our food oh and five because I flagged her down for our check! Yup!! This place has decent food, it's good but not a big fan of the rice. The taco's were good they could have let them sit a little longer to drain they were extremely oily and after a bit of salt, pepper and salsa they were ready to be eaten! If I was ever in town again I might go to give it a second chance and only if I didn't get our waitress. Over all experience a 3! I tend to base most of the restaurant on service and the mood they put in when your eating! But hey go try it make your own decision and enjoy your food! Happy eating! read more

Decent food at reasonable prices. The corn and flour tortilla chips were awesome, definitely something I've never had before. The staff was super friendly, if nervous because they seemed to be getting trained but I'm sure they'll make great waitresses. Also had the added entertainment bonus of getting to experience first hand a mentality I thought had died out. As my boyfriend and I were eating, an older gentlemen at another table began to examine us for a disturbingly long amount of time, long enough to notice a small tattoo of a jellyfish I have on my arm. He then began to get louder in conversation and stare directly at me while preaching that tattoos are a sin and he wouldn't have his "lady love" to have any tattoos. This went on for quite a while. An honestly creepy long while before changing conversation to mock how my boyfriend was cutting his steak. As a kid, my grandfather would bring me here and one of the other patrons was John Wayne, who owned a local ranch. I've loved the Safire for decades. It offers pure comfort food, things like chicken fried steak. The prices are reasonable, the service is friendly and attentive, and the patrons are friendly. My personal favorite is the San Juan style taco plate. Nothing fancy, just good food. A Springerville institution. read more

This is a great restaurant. Good food at reasonable prices and great service. Located on Highway 60 in downtown Springerville, there is ample parking. Many locals eat here including a police officer during the time we were there. We must have breakfast every time we visit the White Mountains. read more

The service was somewhat lacking this last visit, and the beer selection is dreadful; but the food was still excellent. I always get the pork chops as they are excellent, as is the brown gravy, mash, carrots and applesauce that comes with them. A friend got the chicken fried steak and it was HUGE. Classic country music soundtrack in the background of an authentic small town restaurant. You can have Subway, Popeyes, Etc anytime.
