Traditas Pizza in the Financial District is a solid spot when you are craving a quick slice downtown. The pizza hits that classic New York style. Thin crust, good crisp, and easy to grab on the go. It is the kind of place that does not try to be fancy, just focuses on making a good, reliable slice. Great option if you are in the area and want something fast and satisfying without overthinking it. Definitely a convenient stop when you are walking around FiDi.

vodka pizza

we always come here when we're in nyc! they have the best vodka pizza!!! staff is super friendly and restaurant is always clean

Came here for a quick dinner after a long day out and about. Very casual ambiance. Perfect place to grab a slice or 3. We ordered a Sicilian cheese, grandpa slice, buffalo chicken slice, grilled chicken caesar salad, and an order of garlic knots. There is a slice read for you (unless you are vegan or lactose-free). The salads are very fresh. The dressing was SOO good and flavorful. Service was super quick. Love this place.

Just landed in my old stomping grounds and wanted a quick slice of pizza. The truth is I didn't do much research because I was hungry lol. Bumped into this cute place, and figured it would be good. Walking in the door, I immediately knew I was in a NY pizza shop: an open display of multiple pizzas and pizza rolls with hot ovens in the background. The two gentlemen working were very kind and helpful. We ended up getting three slices: penne pasta, lasagna, and a meatlovers slice. I also ordered a side Greek salad. The food was OK. I think the crust and sauce could have had a little more flavor- maybe a little more salt? I did like the lightness of the bread though! Perfectly crisp. It was a little on the pricy side as well, at $6+ a slice and $11 for the small salad versus some of my other usual spots that sell slices for $3-$5. I do want to try their square slices as they looked delish!

grabbed a vodka slice & margherita slice here at night when we had the munchies and this spot was closeby! Slices tasted like they were made fresh and the sauce had plenty of flavor, however the crust had snapped while folding it to eat lol I get the crust is supposed to be crunchy but not that crunchy. Other than that the pizza was great and reasonably priced

We ordered a half pepperoni, half cheese pizza pie and it hit the spot perfectly. The crust had that great balance, it was crispy on the outside but still soft and chewy inside. The cheese half was simple and classic, with just the right amount of sauce and a generous layer of melted cheese that stretched with every bite. The pepperoni side brought a little extra punch: salty, savory slices that crisped up around the edges and paired beautifully with the tangy sauce. It was a great way to please everyone at the table. We got it after a night of heavy drinking so it was perfect. It's definitely something for those who love the timeless plain cheese and something for those who want a little extra flavor. Overall, it was a delicious, well made pie that I'd happily order again.

Wide selection of tasty treats. Great service, with a smile. Tables are clean and chairs are sturdy. This is a working folk's pizzeria. No pricey frills just good pies(they have salads and beverages). There are many places to get good pizza but I like it here because of the sauce & care they take to make each pie.

Disappointment...
Tom F.

Ordered a large cheese pie for delivery for $25 ($4 tip). Arrived promptly & warm (not hot). Visually the cheese color & cook (brown patches) as it outta be & looked fine. But I was suspicious when I saw the crust edge. No cornicione bubbles AT ALL! The dough was flavorless, dry and unworthy of a true NY pie. Definitely no fermentation in the dough resulting in a pretty mediocre pie. Really disappointing as I'd hoped I could find a new contender in the "quality pizza in the neighborhood"department. Traditas is a pretender. Trust me, I'm not just a native NYer but also a retired chef. The search continues...

Maybe it was the choice, late at night not that hungry just wanted a slice of pizza basic not too fancy. Lots of choices, but took the meat lovers-lots of sausage and the dough was not the best. I'll try another pizza by the slice elsewhere

Variety

Tried this place because it was the closest to my hotel when visiting and so happy I stumbled across this gem! Absolutely loved the variety! The Caesar Salad Pizza was novelty for me as well as the Chicken Parm one so I had to try them both. Every slice was good BUT the white slice was my favorite. Simple but so tasty. The ricotta was complementing the crispy dough of the pizza itself I was so surprised. My second favorite was the Vodka one. Another simple yet tasty option. I'm a huge fan of thin crust slices and this is definitely top 5 for me.

While in route to Times Square we stumbled crossed Traditas. The pizza was fresh & yummy. The crust was airy & thin which was my favorite. Service was prompt! Would recommend!

The crust was very thin, even for a NYC slice, and was alright, being a bit doughy at the top. I found the sauce too sweet for my liking, which almost reminded me of the rather terrible Little Italy chain. There was plenty of cheese, and it had a good pull, even if it looked a bit overcooked on top. I'm presuming the average ratings here and on other sites are because of their location and the fact that a lot of tourists who go here can't tell the difference between Joe's and a dollar slice. Perfectly decent slice on the level, if not worse than many slices in the city, as I disliked the sauce, while the rest was fine.

They sat us upstairs along the balcony overlooking the main dining room, and the decor... honestly, just look at the photo because I don't even know how to describe it The space used to be a church, and it is SO cool inside. Definitely not your average pizza joint. This place is popular -- there were plenty of people eating -- but surprisingly, our wait wasn't long at all. And even with all the bodies in there, it never felt crammed or uncomfortable. We ordered a small pizza and did half Shrimp Fra Diavolo and half Margherita. The Fra Diavolo had a little kick, but nothing crazy -- and this is coming from someone who cannot handle big spice The Margherita had just the right amount of basil and mozzarella, and that crispy crust was exactly what I wanted. Although there was no major cheese pull, it was still perfect. The small was plenty for the two of us and honestly just perfect. We also had a couple cocktails, which were delicious too. I always say NYC food pricing is kind of deceiving. You look at the price and go, "Ummm..." but then the food comes out and you realize they give you A LOT. Definitely felt like we got our money's worth here. Great pizza, really cool atmosphere, and a fun first NYC pizza experience for the husband. Happy Eating, Chass

John's Pizzeria of Times Square is located inside a restored 19th‑century church. I sampled the a la vodka pasta. I was not over impressed. It was cold in parts and warm in others and the pasta was stuck together in places. It was also dry with not enough sauce. I had to ask for some extra. By the time the lack luster server returned with the sauce I was almost finished. I would not visit again, as now I have seen the historical element. The story began in 1995, when Madeline Castellotti, a hardworking single mother and former human resources professional, saw potential in a derelict Gospel Tabernacle Church on West 44th Street in Times Square. At the time, the area was gritty, with homelessness, graffiti, and adult‑shop culture, but Madeline envisioned a unique, family‑friendly space. She was drawn to the church's intact stained‑glass ceiling, divided into eight equal panels -- a design she likened to slices of pizza. After two years of renovation, Madeline converted the abandoned church into a modern pizzeria while preserving its historic character. The project included restoring the stained glass, adding balcony seating, and installing four 800‑degree coal‑fired brick ovens with no thermostats.

Last year, I was at Nothing Really Matters, the bar next door, with a group of friends. Someone ordered pizza, and I had no idea where it came from. I didn't realize reservations were recommended, but thankfully Ariel, the host, was able to fit us in. Ariel was fantastic - he was friendly, welcoming, and so accommodating despite us showing up without a reservation. Ariel provided excellent service from the moment we walked in until we left. I didn't take any photos, which I now regret, because their pepperoni pizza was salty, addictive, and just really, really good. The pepperoni was crisp, the crust had that perfect char and crunch, and I couldn't stop reaching for another slice. The restaurant is small, cozy, and inviting. Do people not realize that putting a bar near a door on a freezing cold night benefits no one? Good thing I did not order alcohol or I would have froze to death. The names of the pies are funny, and the staff is friendly, but besides that, the quality of the food for lack of a better word, dare I say it, sucks. Hoping to salvage the meal, I ordered their Chicken Parmesan. It was the Hail Mary pass that unfortunately did not connect. The cutlets are overcooked and dry, and the red sauce cooked with it has minimal tomato flavor. At least the spaghetti is cooked to a nice al dente and mellow garlic butter flavor, but like the sauce cooked in, it is also minimal. Part of the problem I feel is they are trying to go for a vibe that has a New York and modern feel. It does not work. Stay true to one or the other. Or at least look at other business models. I will use another pizzeria in Bushwick that exemplifies it perfectly. It is a hipster pizzeria in a hipster neighborhood. Through balance, it creates an ambiance both welcoming and warm without losing any of its Bushwick character. It does this by not beating you over the head with hipster vibes, just enough to let you know that you are in Bushwick. The band Franz Ferdinand was playing as I was wrapping up. Rather than take the pizza out, I suggest you throw it out. Overall pizza rating: 1.7/5

I have to say the centerpiece of the entire narrow room is the bar itself, and let me tell you, it is an absolute stunner of a contrast. Instead of the usual dark, sticky tavern wood, they've dropped in a long, continuous slab of pristine, elegantly smooth white stone. It glows under the soft lighting like a block of polished marble. There are no strobe lights and no obnoxious, skull-rattling bass in this joint. Instead, the room is wrapped in a blanket of incredibly chill music that matches the pulse of the room perfectly. It's just loud enough to drown out the noise in your own head, but quiet enough that you don't have to scream over the smooth white counter to be heard. People aren't here to be seen on TikTok; they're here to disappear for an hour or three. It's the ultimate underground exhale--a perfect, narrow slice of peace in a city that never shuts up. Cheers!
