There was someone playing live music at certain times of the day. The room was clean and had a simple but nice setup. The shower had great water temperature and pressure. We had an ocean view room which was worth the extra cost. Waking up to the beach every morning was so satisfying. Reading on the balcony while listening to the ocean sounds and watching the waves was everything that I needed. The hotel has beach towels that are easily checked out through a machine. Beach chairs and umbrellas are available first come first serve to hotel guests which is very convenient. There was a heated outdoor pool, a volleyball net and a few games inside. We ate all of our meals at the hotel. We ate at the grab and go food spot. I ordered the feta and spinach croissant, a chocolate chip scone and a cappuccino. We also ate dinner at the latitude 30. I ordered a ceasar salad and calamari. For breakfast at latitude 30, I ordered the French toast dish that comes bacon and I ordered a side of eggs. We also ate at the fine dining restaurant onsite where I ordered the seared scallops dish and the vanilla crème brûlée. All of the meals that we ate at the hotel were very tasty. The restaurant staff were all kind and the utensils were spotless. I believe food may have also been served at the bar near the pool, but I didn't try any food from there during my visit. I really had an enjoyable time at this hotel and I plan to return in the future.

The property was recently purchased by new owners after being owned by sand owner who opened it in 1987, which is impressive. Mervin in the restaurant was kind and friendly and been there 12 years. Glinda in the restaurant was the SWEETEST lady there. She maker the omelettes. (Get the omelettes!! Yum!) John and Greg are great pool side bar tenders. The gentleman at the lobby bar was also friendly and attentive, we didn't catch his name. The list of things we wished were different is short. Could have used speakers playing music during the times at the pool when there wasn't live music. Wait times in the restaurant were long. (Food was hit or miss...not horrible but mostly unremarkable... However the spinach dip at the casual restaurant is off the charts and the wagyu steak at Voyagers is incredible!!) We cannot say enough about the marvelous staff. We will definitely be back! We wish them luck in this transition.

(I had called earlier commenting about no coffee in the room and was told there was a coffee bar in the lobby... never any mention of a charge) Mortified, walletless, not knowing what to do, I dumped my coffee in the waste basket and went back to our room. We are staying here for a week so I called to ask how much the coffee was and was told $3.75 a cup. Now our idea of entertainment since my husband can't move around very well is sitting on the deck by the ocean and drinking coffee.... So it's kind of a big deal to us, as it probably is with other seniors and mobility challenged individuals, so thought I'd share. Aside from that the room is nice and the view great, which probably keeps people coming. Also, the pizza we had at the Hotel bar was not very good. Big buffet breakfast in the lobby, and a tiki bar outside. What more can you ask for? Except fluffier pillows - these were flat within seconds, but honestly, that would be my only negative and that's not a dealbreaker at all. Next time, I'll just bring my own.

In the end, we stayed and they refunded us a portion of our cost. I would recommend Bella. I would not recommend Sugar Beach 153.

When I say hard as a rock, I mean this bed did not move. It was like sitting on a wall. I would love to stay in the unit again if the master bedroom was a different bed. I love a firm bed with some softness on top. This could have used a mattress topper and we went to buy one, but the topper we found was $120 and we didn't feel like that was a purchase we should have made. The shower pressure is phenomenal and the rooms were so nice and clean! This is definitely the nicest Holiday Inn we have stayed at!! We also definitely recommend getting an ocean view balcony, it is so worth it! The biggest con we had here is their wifi is not that great & it won't stay connected or won't connect at all.
