Great people and prices at Tradeway Carpet outlet. I got a $1067 carpet for $144. Super awesome bargain on a wool carpet. The people were really nice and helpful to a tee!! Big thumbs up. Tracey, Berkeley read more

This place is by far the best kept secret of the bay area. I was doing research on the internet about two years back and, by sheer accident, I stumbled across a review of Tradeway carpets. Oddly enough, I had been asking around, searching the net for weeks on end, calling carpet stores listed in the yellow pages, and, despite the fact, I had never heard of Tradeway! At first, I was reluctant to make the drive to Richmond, as I live in San Francisco, however, this place was well worth the short drive. It only took about 20 minutes to get there; the warehouse is located only a few short blocks from the freeway offramp. You could get lost in this massive three-floor filled-to the rim warehouse that offers exceptional prices, amazing quality, and a beyond-IMAGINABLE selection of remnants/carpet/flooring; they carry all sizes, colors, manufacturers including bottom to top of the line synthetics/wools. Please be sure you have at least 3-4 hours of time to make it through the warehouse as there is an ABUNDANCE of inventory to choose from -- and it's often difficult to make your final selection. I have purchased several remnants from Tradeway and have dealt with the same two individuals, Daniel and Darryl. Let me assure you -- they are a PLEASURE to deal with. They are friendly, helpful, fair, and they have an incredible sense of humor! Darryl will work with you to find whatever it is that you are looking for at the price that fits your budget. I can't say enough about Tradeway -- please do yourself a favor -- and see for yourself! read more

I just popped in again last week, because we need to get some LUXURY VINYL TILE going. Yeah, we're fancy. I really enjoy this evocative store. The selection of tile options is great. I was in particular looking for something that isn't wood plank, and they have it. In a few options. But also, just wander around and touch the crazy array of carpets. It's so oddly satisfying. read more

The Holy Grail of Bay Area Carpet warehouses. Three floors of carpets, in a cavernous monolith of a building! Everything from cheesy 70's casino carpet, to plush raised "graphic" and berbers, to my personal fave, the lion in a crest carpet Scottish Rite secret masonic carpet. Rich is very nice and helpful. He'll even compliment your oddball purchases. Rich is also a huge fan of David Byrne. This Rules. Also a shout out to younger black kid that works in the warehouse. I can't remember his name, but he is way cool and helpful, and has a great attitude and is properly built for lifting 12ft rolls of carpet all day long. Check them out. read more

Honestly, there is NO REASON to shop for high quality remnants anywhere else. Tradeway blows everyone else out the water on Assortment, Quality, Price, and Customer Service. Great Great shop - from the Store Manager (Darryl Johnson) to the two young men preparing the carpet for sale. I shopped around and did the 'Frontage Road Shuffle" checking price and service from Berkeley to ElCerrito/Richmond: The carpet shop in Berkeley near the self storage place is nice (ask for Jason-nice guy). Folks further down near Central Ave/Costco - -service/personality is hmmmmmmm. I got a referral from a contractor friend asking him where he goes for carpet and he said TRADEWAY. He won't go anywhere else and now neither will I !! We got a very high quality remnant (12X14) and pad for LESS than ANYWHERE else I saw/priced - -including Home Depot. read more

When I had to update the upstairs unit of my house earlier this year, the color consultant my painter recommended tipped me off to Tradeways. Although it's in a rough industrial area of Richmond, in the kind of place where people used to, you know, actually *work*, you will find no better place in the Bay Area to shop for carpet from a selection or value standpoint. Rich gave me the lay of the land and I set off through three floors of carpet and linoleum to find enough carpet to update my upstairs unit. On the way I found a crazy assortment of carpets and I started thinking of aesthetically unwise ways to update my floor and kitchen décor. Let's just say the carpet would definitely NOT match the drapes. Found my carpet, had a chat wit the very helpful guy who wheels out the carpet to the elevator, rode the elevator and talked about the history of the place, and they unrolled the carpet to check for any issues. There was a tiny hole that they could easily repair and, now that it is installed, I have no idea where that hole ended up. They have a recommended carpet installer, Tadd, who did quality work quickly at a good price. Great experience beginning to end! read more

This place is awesome!!! Since my landlord wouldn't let me get a carpet installed I went to them in need of a carpet remnant big enough to cover my entire bedroom floor. I had just met with Empire (who is supposedly really cheap) who had quoted me $800+ just for the piece of carpet (not even bound). At Tradeway I was able to get much more for LESS THEN HALF the price! They had a great selection (3 full floors) & EXCEPTIONAL customer service! I went in on a budget & was still able to go home with my first choice rug (& padding). I was even able to get the edges bound so it doesn't curl up or fray (which I normally wouldn't have had enough for) & which they made a house call for to tailored it to my exact measurements. Daryl (the manager) is a miracle worker & everyone who worked there was very helpful (not pushy AT ALL)! I will definately be back & highly recommend this place to anyone in need of carpeting!!! read more

My parrot loves my roommate and when she locks him out of her room he sits by the door and picks at the carpet in a desperate attempt to either get her attention or dig his way into her room. Instead he gets my wrath and no more money spent on new toys until I fix the hole. First, I went to Home Depot where I encountered an arrogant jerk unwilling to help who told me it was impossible to buy a small piece of carpet, only the whole roll... peace out buddy, time to yelp it up... Today I went to Tradeway where a really nice guy knew exactly what I wanted and helped me pick out 3 possibilities and on top of it he GAVE them to me for free! Score! (And yes, mattresses and an assortment of junk come to Richmond to die, but don't let that, or the 2pm drivebys on cutting scare you away) read more

I would give Tradeway Carpet Outlet 10 stars if I could! The manager Daryl is very professional, yet considerate and kind. He cares about his employees and his customers, and it shows. The atmosphere is one of upbeat civility and I really enjoy going there. There are some wonderful finds if you take the time to look. I bought two Berber wool carpets the other day which are now installed and gorgeous. The men who work there are all patient and helpful. If you prefer to be left alone and hunt for treasures, that is fine, too. Daryl should get a prize for what he just did for me and my tenant. She had picked out a carpet which looked nice on the roll, but when she saw it installed, she burst into tears! The pattern made her feel dizzy. So Daryl cheerfully replaced it, free of charge! read more

Great service. Personal to what you are looking for. Staff are always helpful and super knowledgeable. Often if I have a question they answer it and if they don't have the answer they refer me or point me in the right direction. Also, a very affordable option when you are on a budget. read more

D&D of Tradeway Flooring, the Dynamic Duo of Tradeway! I first met Joe, the former owner, Daryl and Daniel in 1987 when we bought carpet for our home. I new of Tradeway from high school, because Coach Randolph, alias Old Dude, would gave summer jobs to boys who needed them. Also as I found out many years later, it was a job he loved, mentoring to those who needed. Every since day one, we've always received excellent service, product knowledge, which is rare these days, quality and price. When we ordered new carpet from Daryl in December and I went into his new location, it was just what I expected and even more. First class. From the warm, genuine, friendly greeting, to the refreshments served. You can shop other places, even as I and even Daryl himself will do from time to time just to see what's out there. And you're never find anything to compare to who I call, "The Dynamic Duo!" Daryl and Daniel of Tradeway. Knowledge, service, product and prices, can't be beat. Joe would be proud to see what Daryl is doing, taking Tradeway to another level! Also bringing new life to Richmond. Great job D&D! read more

Tradeway Flooring - Service, Product & Knowledge, Worth Smiling About! - Carpeting Near Me - Concord, California

Another 5 star for these guys- great selection, loved being able to walk around and see everything life-sized, make a decision and order it right away. Way better than looking at sample books... Justin and Darryl were friendly, knowledgeable, helpful, low-pressure and it was a great deal as well. Will definitely be back next time I need carpet read more

After having had an area rug made for our bedroom several years ago, we returned to Tradeway Carpet to meet a new challenge. This time we needed to have a remnant cut and bound into segments to protect our hardwood floors from our rambunctious doberman puppy. I am pleased beyond measure with Daryl's service and professionalism. He made sure we could thoroughly inspect the rug as it rolled from one spindle onto another. The binding was impeccable and durable enough to cover inside the bottom of our little beastie's crate. If you are looking for a nicely finished remnant, or wall-to-wall carpet from their HUGE warehouse, Daryl will work with you to your complete satisfaction. read more

I went in simply to get some remnants for pet cage insulation but as soon as I walked in to the enormous warehouse, I my eyes got wide. These people are not fooling around. This place is serious about carpet. They've got the goods on a vast selection of simple and elegant to wonderful and unique residential as well as high end hotel carpet. I felt a little silly for what I was looking for but everyone there was really nice and smiling, even the customer leaving as I was going in said "good afternoon!" Must've been in a good mood. Darryl took time for me and helped me out with what I needed and was genuinely friendly and fun to talk to. My husband and I are still redecorating the house we bought in Richmond just over 2 years ago. The wood floors and some new carpeting are the next project so now we know where we're going to look for something really unique. Give them your business, totally worth it. -Annie read more

Tradeway staff Daniel and manager Darryl were fantastic help to my family and I. They are very professional, kind and funny. The warehouse is huge and have so many choices. They showed my father and I lots of carpets and pointed out any flaws. We needed an odd size carpet for a closet. They even suggested a great installer who did the job quickly! Their prices are unbeatable as well. Highly recommend because of their customer service and commitment to helping their clientele. I can't thank them enough. read more

I'm not sure where to begin. The quality, service and flexibility was amazing. There was no pressure, but a real emphasis on my being happy with what I wanted. Even after my installer messed up the stairs they were there with an installer that came and made it all better! They are a great team and I'll never go anyplace else for excellent service and quality! read more

Really can't say enough about the crew at Tradeway. I've purchased three area rugs and carpeted one room through Tradeway and can't imagine going anywhere else. They are a treasure trove of carpet remnants. I love that it's in an old Pullman warehouse, I love that I can peruse two giant floors of remnants, and most of all I love the customer service. Their prices are totally fair and they're so friendly. It feels like what it is, a local neighborhood shop that you want to support. I would give ten starts if I could. read more

These guys are awesome - we just picked up sheet vinyl and carpeting from them, and their prices / selection are fantastic. The gentleman who work here are really pleasant and helpful too. Less than 24 hrs the carpet was installed by Tadd and he did a great job as well! They even put my carpet on a machine that allowed me to see the entire roll before my purchase. My young dog Tuna was a little excited when i left her locked in the house/hallway so i could go out to dinner one evening.. Well much to my dismay she tore up the carpet with her scratching and pawing... No surprise really, i did expect some sort of retribution. So i traversed to the well recommended Tradeway Carpet Outlet ...expecting to get someone there to repair the damage... After jovial salutations from the staff and pleasant talk Mr. Johnson, the man at the desk, gave me the replacement carpet gratis and a list of personal who could do the job, This Saturday morning a carpet repair man is stopping by to repair the damage... read more

This place is simply AMAZING!!! They have 3 floors of carpet remnants including HIGH END designer carpet at great discount. You can find every color, design and quality from basic to high end here. IF by chance you don't find what you are looking for, you can even order carpet from their hundreds of carpet samples/books. On top of carrying carpet that you will never see anywhere else, the staff treated us as if we were their friends. We didn't feel like we were just another transaction to them. You really get the feeling that they are there to help you in any way that they can. This will be the only place we shop for carpet from now on! read more

I have been going to Tradeway for about 20 years or so. Darryl the manager was incredibly helpful on our last visit, He saved us over $500.00 off a couple of other bids we received. This was for high end wool carpet that had to be ordered. If you are able to find a remnant in their warehouse then you will save even more. Darryl set us up with Mike and Xavier to install our carpet. These guys were great. Fast , efficient and very pleasant to work with. read more

Wait, I haven't done a review of Tradeway yet? That's embarrassing. There are other carpet stores? Why? What's the point when there's Tradeway? This review is long overdue. I put off buying carpet a long time because the expense and process intimated me. Our young son and dog destroyed the white carpet our house came with and after much research I found Tradeway. There were so many options and what I loved most was seeing my entire carpet instead of just a square of what it would look like. Darryl was so kind and helpful but not overbearing. In the end I found the perfect carpet for a third of the price I was quoted at another carpet store. I will definitely be a lifetime customer! read more

We were able to re-carpet 1k sq feet of our house for about 1/2 what other places were quoting for the same quality carpet. Hints: -Don't be shy about having them unroll the carpet for you. -Keep going back as they have a lot of turnover. -Have your installer accompany you to inspect the carpet prior to purchasing. They are able to visualize how to cut out imperfections for your home. read more

I've bought carpet from Tradeway more than once. I purchased carpet for a house I bought and they did a great job and the price was superb. I also called them for an emergency carpet need ona rental I owned, Again they did an amazing job. I highly recommend Tradeway Flooring in Richmond. They are the best at what they do and I love the rolls and rolls of remnants. One of the property management companies I worked with used them as well and we were always delighted at their quality, service and turn times with the apartments. read more

This place is one of the best home resources in the Bay Area. A huge inventory combined with some of the most personally attentive staff makes it tops on my list. My first experience with Tradeways was during reconstruction following the Loma Prieta earthquake. They did everything possible to help during that difficult time. Today, so many years later, I experienced the same wonderful service and saved a ton of money too. Their remnants offer the the opportunity to purchase high-end materials that would normally be outside my budget. I wish I could give them six stars! read more

If you love hunting down bargains then you will love shopping at Tradeway. It's got three floors of remnants and seconds in every possible color and style. Everything from tasteful neutrals to gaudy patterns that would be perfect for that Vegas-themed Rec room you've been dreaming about. We found a beautiful piece of Berber large enough to do two bedrooms and a long hallway. Probably would have retailed for around $40 per sq. yard, but we got it for $16. Last time I was there they also had a great selection of 100% wool carpeting. The huge selection can be overwhelming so take your time. I'm a "please leave me alone" type of shopper so I appreciate the sales people here. They will let you browse around on your own for as long as you want but will make themselves available whenever you need assistance. Another great thing about shopping at Tradeway vs. a normal flooring retailer: it's so much easier to pick the right carpet and/or flooring when one gets to see it full size, rather than as just a small sample piece. read more

I agree with Ben V. And I would like to clarify he and I have never met. This place is indeed the Holy Grail of carpet warehouses. What's even more impressive is the staff knows the inventory! There are 1000's of choices so if you go in and have a general idea of what you're looking for they will point you in the right direction. I've worked with both Rich and Darrel (sp?) and have to say they are both fantastic. They'll even recommend someone to do installation on the cheap if you need it! read more
